Rock Bottom renewed my faith in contractors. They were unbelievable responsive, available to answer all of my questions at every step. The crew was early every day and put in long hours to get the job as quickly as possible. There were a couple of surprises discovered when they dug down and none of it impacted the price I paid. The crew was friendly, happy, and incredibly hard-working. I cannot recommend Rock Bottom highly enough. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. I'm thrilled with my new basement!

Amazing work.I hired Rock Bottom Underpinning to do underpinning for my basement and I am very impressed with their work. Dion and his team were professional, courteous, and efficient throughout the whole process. They explained everything to me clearly and answered all my questions. They completed the job on time and on budget, and left the site clean and tidy. My basement is now 2' feet higher and is much more spacious and comfortable, and I am very happy with the results. I would highly recommend Rock Bottom Underpinning to anyone looking for underpinning services in Toronto. They are the best in the business!

I worked with Jamie and the Rock Bottom team to underpin the basement of my 100+ yr old in Leslieville. The overall goal was to dig out my basement to a finished height of 8' 2" (gained over 2 ft of head room).Jamie managed the project end to end, from drawings, permits, underpinning, waterproofing, new poured concrete floor, in-floor heating, and they left it clean and ready for my contractor to do the finishing. AND they did this all in about 6 weeks! which was super fast! (i.e. twice as fast as any other company who quoted my job).Jamie was truly a pleasure to work with -- very friendly and easy to deal with. From dealing with my many many calls and questions, and site visits while we were still in the discovery phase, to many conversations throughout the dig. Jamie always kept me in the loop and always made himself available when I needed him.Shout out to Jose as well, who was the lead on site during the project. The Rock Bottom team are pros and have a really well oiled machine -- I think they do something like 50+ underpins a year, and it shows in their speed, efficiency and quality. And of course great service too, which is very important to me and key in my decision making in selecting trades/contractors.Thanks again Jamie, Jose, Dion, and the rest of the Rock Bottom team that worked their butts off to deliver the project on time and on budget. I can confidently recommend Rock Bottom to anyone looking to dig out their basement and improve their home.

After meeting with several underpinning contractors to explore the option of underpinning our home’s basement to maximize our living space the choice was obvious. From our initial meeting with Jamie who oversaw the project from start to finish we knew we were in capable hands. We were kept abreast every step of the way as the project progressed. We could count on an open line of communication and furthermore Jamie assisted in expanding the project scope to ensure that we maximized our investment. In addition the work crew were respectful and always ensured that the surrounding area was clean and safe at the end of the work day. If you are considering an underpinning project, You will not be disappointed in choosing Rock Bottom.Nick and Pamela P

The team removed the old, worn out concrete and drains from my basement before installing new weeping tile, drains, and concrete.Excellent communication through every step of the process, double-checking that they understood my final layout before they moved ahead. I was out of town during the majority of the work but was constantly updated on progress and asked for clarity if anything wasn't 100% certain on their end.My neighbour mentioned that everyone was so friendly! The team also installed a 10x10 concrete pad in my back yard (future hot tub support) and took great care to ensure that it was in the correct location and perfectly level as the concrete cured.I'm already planning to work with the team on further renovations.

It has been a pleasant experience working with RockBottom on my basement underpinning. They are punctual, organized and efficient. The staff completed the job on time and minimized the interruption while we were still living on the upper floors. The sales representative Jamie has been very responsive during the whole process which I truly appreciate.I’d recommend RockBottom to my friends/neighbors if any of them is looking to underpin their basement.

Dealt with Jamie from Rockbottom underpinning. Very unprofessional, didn’t get back to me for weeks and once he did he was he made up a ton of excuses. Jamie came to the site Jan 26 and had no response until Feb 10.

We had a very difficult experience with this company.I got two recommendations for them and after reviewing the contract twice with the salesperson we agreed to proceed. My big mistake was that my two references had not yet completed their projects with Rock Bottom. I found out later that Rock Bottom abandoned both of these jobs and left many deficiencies behind.Things went poorly from the start. Dion the owner missed our initial start up meeting but told me he went to the site later. A week later when they started he tried to charge me another $4,000 for demolition work that had already been agreed to in the contract. If he had actually gone to the site then he should have seen this and we could have discussed it prior to starting instead of on the day of.When I pointed out that his salesperson had signed off on this basement foundation removal his response was "I don't care, it is my company and I decide".The work went well enough initially but then Dion tried to eliminate doing the exterior weeping tile around our new addition. I told him many times that we wanted it done but he refused to do it and they even backfilled the excavation even though we said explicitly not to do this until the weeping tile work done. His rationale was that our soil was "sandy" and we did not need to do this.As a result we had to pay another company to run the weeping tile (as required by building code and to connect a window well weeper as required by building code). They dismantled my tree protection fencing to use as bracing for their form work. They dumped the removal garbage at the back of my property in hopes that I would not notice. He claimed to use Aquabloc as a waterproof sealant but theydid not and they actually left the cheap can of waterproofing foundation paint from Home Hardware that he really used on site.Rock Bottom also tried to leave a poorly finished joint between the old and new foundation (not covered, not filled, not protected) and they installed a sump pit that also did not meet building code. They never checked the main drain out and instead connected the new basement drains to a main drain that was partially blocked. The company that I did hire to correct all of their mistakes immediately found this problem and rectified it along with the missing weeping tile, the improper sump pump pit and many, many other issues. When I complained about these items Dion said he was now done and demanded payment in full after providing a credit for the concrete floor that was 50% of what it would cost to do (we know, we got three other quotes). We refused and he place a lien on our homewhich we are still fighting today in small claims court. We felt that this was a bully tactic and intimidation on his part.It almost worked, it was and still is very stressful and frustrating and we are getting close to three years with this dispute! To make matters more frustrating their own contract that we signed states that both sides agree that any and all disputes with workmanship or payment shall be resolved with mediation.I requested several times to go this route with Dion and he refused. I even offered to pay for all the mediation costs but he insisted on placing a lien as an intimidation tactic.I am in the construction industry and this is was a very poor handled project in terms of making any effort to identify and resolve disputes. This is extremely unfortunate as it did not have to end like this.We have fought their lien and we are still waiting for our day in Small Claims court.A 2 plus year nightmare!

If you want the best underpinners out there, look no further! Rock Bottom's professionalism was impressive from the very first day, Jamie kept us up to date through the entire process and ensured all customer expectations were met.The site crew was absolutely outstanding and very skilled. They dealt with issues quickly and efficiently and were always happy to show you the progress first hand.Wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend Rock Bottom to anyone that want's to tackle any kind of underpinning project, of any size and any complexity.

I called to get a second opinion on some work that was being done on one of our rental properties. We had assumed a contract with another company for underpinning once we bought the half finished property and we moved ahead with it but along the way we started to have concerns. We needed a second opinion and Rock Bottom came highly recommended by a couple of sources. Dion was very helpful in explaining the situation to us for free. He knew from the start it wasn't going to result in a sale but he took the time to help us. I appreciate the knowledge and integrity of someone willing to take the time and help no strings attached.I'm hoping we get another project in the near future so that we can work with Rock Bottom!
