Good location. Good prices. However, can you please have management clean the underground parking lot and the stairs going to the store? It is extremely dirty and it stinks.

Smells like actual poo poo by the dairy, and caught some employees literally bullying a younger employee who was clearly still learning and doing his best to help- a lady with an actual Karen haircut so not surprising. Her constant nagging slowed the employees down and a lot of the shoppers very uncomfortable as we all struggled through the one open line… Poo poo attitude and poo poo smells. Good sales this week tho!

I went around 7pm. Lines were long but I could move around and browse. Lots of great sales on staples like bread, fruits, veggies, dairy, juice etc. Small fabric bags are .33 or 3/.99

A well-run Food Basics outlet. While there’s the usual abundance of highly processed stuff, they also have nice, inexpensive produce and a better-than-average selection of yogurts at low prices. Thanks to Paul who hunted out some frozen fruit for me when there was none out front.

The diary aisle ALWAYS smells like fecal matter. I have gone to this store on 3 separate occasions in the past month and I’m so incredibly disgusted each time that I end up leaving without buying anything. I often see other patrons also looking shocked once they get to the milk and eggs section.

Is there even a manager here? There is constantly a huge line because you’re lucky if there is ONE checkout open and while I use the self service one, are you aware we live in the most densely populated areas of Toronto full of families and elderly that might not be able to use the self checkout?Items are either always out of stock or the lazy workers never bother to restock them. The place has been dirty since I moved here a year ago and prices keep going up even on items that were previously clearly labeled as “price locked down”. This is the worst quality supermarket you could possibly go to, yet prices keep rising. Where is this city heading toJune 2023: I’m not kidding if I say that some products are now cheaper at Whole Foods. And you’re getting organic produce instead of this no flavor items. It’s just becoming extremely ridiculous.Update as of May 2023: they are constantly raising prices on a monthly basis. On basic items like bread, pasta, milk. Everything is going up by 50c every single month. This chain used to be affordable. I understand inflation but we are at the point where if the cheapest (and worst in terms of quality) supermarket has these prices, you might as well pay for quality food at Whole Foods.Items are barely going on sale anymore. You will instead see orange and red tags popping up everywhere saying “price locked down” or “always great price” while the price itself went up. Don’t mistake those for items on sale. Toronto is becoming unlivable.$3.88 is the new $2.99$4.44 disappeared, it’s all $5.49 or $5.99Some items are priced so ridiculously that I laugh seeing them and walk away.I was happy to finally move closer to a cheaper grocery store, especially lately, but after I shopped here for the first time I think this will be a place where I’ll just pick up a few last minute things. Not clean, the packed meat section looked awful and for a place this size the options were very limited, not a lot of choice of products because many of them were actually missing from the shelves, to the point that I was asking myself if the store was about to go out of business. Even if products were in stock they were kept at the back of the shelves, for example big bottles of water were impossible to reach. Half of the fruits and vegetables looked extremely bad. I’ve regularly shopped at other food basics before but this is a whole other story unfortunately.

This store is always very busy and can be chaotic. The staff is extremely overworked, but are nice and helpful.Availability is random - some days there are no vegetables, or the dairy isle is half empty.Check your fruit and vegetables one by one, as there may be rotten or spoiled ones. When buying berries, definitely check - I've seen rotten and moldy strawberries there many, many times.Fresh meat: If you see a sticker with -40% on any fresh meat - don't buy it, it's definitely already gone bad. Generally meat is low quality, like at Walmart.Non-perishables are fine, always available. There is a gluten free selection, though small.

I've been shopping here for 14 years. Great sales. Produce is so fresh. Great customer service. I fell outside 2 winters ago badly injuring myself in front of burger King. The staff from food basics are the ones who helped me and when I went to food basics a few days later inquired how I was doing. Always a helpful and friendly place to shop ???.

Food Bassics on Paper Ave superb customer service from Olivia that helped me with over a dozen of cases of water. We need more people like this. Thanks to her and the self checkout, she was super helpful too.Workers of this type, hopefully are well paid and deserve to be!
