First time dog owner here, my husband has had a dog before. My husband thought a purebred border collie that came from a working cattle herding line would fit our lifestyle in our home. I, without thinking ,agreed. To say I was in over my head would be a massive understatement. Thankfully we were referred to Scholars in Collars; before we had even signed up for a class, Diane was on the phone with me, helping me navigate the lunatic of a puppy we had just bought. We signed up for level 1-3 courses, did puppy play and brain games as well. We are beyond grateful that we drove from Niagara to attend these classes. The classes are small so you get individual attention and personalized training tips. Moreover, the classes are also online so you can start implementing training at home so you never miss a thing!...because if you think you're going to be able to pay full attention in class with a puppy you are gravely mistaken. Puppy socialization is wonderful, they carefully select which dogs will play well with each other and teach you safe play. A small lesson is given at the beginning of each class as well.If youre concerned about the seemingly "brief" playtime, dont be. It is the perfect amount of time to tire your puppy out but not overtire them and create a demon spawn. At the end of the day YOU need to put in the work to create the dog you want but Scholars in Collars will give you a positive environment, endless support, and the utmost caring and knowledgeable staff to get you there. You won't be disappointed you brought your dog here, it is worth every penny.

We enrolled the 1st dog that we've ever owned in the level 1 program back in May 2024 with the goal to learn how to handle training a dog. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly explaining why they teach things the way they do and how dogs behave im certain situations. They were very accomidating for all behaviors of dogs, teaching owners what to do to manage the dogs being overstimulated or misbehaving. We loved working with our dog in their guidance and saw a huge improvement in the way our she behaved. We then enrolled into the level 2 and eventually the level 3 programs which further built upon the skills we learned as well as some new and fun tricks/activities that we can do with our dog to help stimulate her brain when taking her on a walk is not possible such as when the weather is bad or other limitations.

Diane and the team are excellent. Their strategies work and the videos prior to the in person lessons are detailed and informative. Our puppy Sandy really benefited from the training and the evidence is in the behaviours she learned in a relatively short amount of time. In addition the tools like dog harnesses, leashes and toys are reasonably priced. Thanks for all the lessons, support and help.

My partner has been taking our puppy here since last year (attended the old location). They've been great with teaching us how to teach the big fluffy guy to be a real gentleman.
Many different trainers for many different types of training. Would recommend getting puppy training here for sure as they pair up puppies for play time and help answer any questions you might have about your little friend as they grow up.
Give them a call and see how they can help you!

Diane saved me when I was at the end of my rope. She made herself available to me to discuss my dog and what was best for next steps. She is genuinely invested in the well-being of you as a pet owner, and above all for your pet. I couldn't recommend her enough.

I am so impressed with Scholars in Collars.
I am not a first time dog owner, nor am I a first time attendee at dog school, but this experience is far superior to my previous experience.
Diane, the owner, is incredibly communicative, and actually encouraged me to start my puppy in classes as soon as we could - which meant at exactly ten weeks and I attended the first class by myself (with my puppy at nine weeks) so that we could participate in this session. As a result of this early start, we’ve been able to teach Duke exactly what we want him to do right from the start. He is still tiny, but already exhibiting all the behaviours we want to see in him. As a Boxer, he is a high energy dog and will be large when fully grown: good behaviour is exactly what we need.
All of the trainers we have met at Scholars are extremely knowledgeable and supportive. Between the classes and Puppy Play Time, I feel more confident than I ever have as a dog owner in my own ability to understand and train my dog.
I absolutely would not hesitate to recommend.

Scholars in Collars was recommended for our 4 year adopted Golden Retriever who was lacking in obedience. The class was small and the professional instructors very skilled giving us fun, challenging classes with positive training techniques. Questions were addressed and best yet is the ongoing assistance as needed for a year. Yes 5 stars for Scholars in Collars Dog Training.

My husband and I and our dog all had an awesome experience at Scholars in Collars. Diane and her team know what they’re doing and went above and beyond to help us solve some behavioural issues and get the best results possible. We will definitely be recommending them to all of our friends and family.

I can’t say enough about the supportive environment in these classes. They have made my daughter who has severe anxiety feel comfortable and been very flexible to allow her to participate in the classes. My pup is doing amazingly well despite being a nervous guy himself. The techniques they use are all about building relationships with your dog and use positive methods. He has very quickly learned to walk properly on a leash and to “chill out”. We frequently receive comments from strangers about how well mannered he is on walks.Highly recommend!
