Mike, I am not sure why you responded to my review with false allegations constantly. I dealt with you on a one to one with no other parties involved. But the way you respond to your reviews on here is exactly how Klotz as a business is being ran. Absolute disaster and disgrace to actual mechanics around the world. I would highly recommend that nobody bring their vehicles to this place without doing some research from these crooks who need 5 star ratings from other companies in Kitchener because they can't fix a problem by themselves.

Long story short. I had issues with my motor, mds need replacing then a problem with a valve. $8500 later the issues supposedly solved. A warranty reflects the actual type or quality of work a company does or backs their work! A little over a year later I have no compression in 5 of my cylinders. Basically I need a replacement motor. My 2014 ram is kaput. Klotz had no positive response because their warranty was done. Like I said a warranty reflects the work/quality a company does. I strongly suggest to stay away from these wanna be mechanics. Not impressed, they probably have been reported to the BBB several times. So sad..I loved my truck!

I am the owner of Autologix in Kitchener, this is in response to the review left by Tina in regards to the timing chain issue on her Subaru. We are Subaru specialists and work closely with the Klotz Team. We had opportunity to assist in the diagnostics of this vehicle. The vehicle presented with timing correlation codes, the repair that was done was carried out as it should have been. the vehicle also presented with a completely melted and obstructed catalytic converter, which over time can cause extreme heat and damage. the vehicle was running smoothly, with no noise once the repair was completed, this is a very unfortunate situation, however as technicians we are not able to see everything else going on with no symptoms. Maintenance is also critical on the owners end. Klotz are a good team, they have done many machining jobs for us on our engine builds.

I would give these KLUTZ zero stars if possible. They reinforce every negative stereotype of mechanics that you can think of from ripping you off (especially women) to constantly finding new problems.
Right off the bat their receptionist, Donna, is rude and clearly hates her job. She told me they were so busy and have no time to work on my car when I first brought it in. If I didn't have it towed there I would of taken it back immediately. They are incredibly slow. It took them 1 week to even look at the car and 6 weeks later, I'm left with a lemon.
At first they said I needed a timing chain. I knew it was pricey, but Mike convinced me that it would solve the issue saying that was why the car had no power. That would cost about $2700+tax. After waiting about a week and half he then calls to tell me that they can't figure out why the car has no/low power and asks if I'd like him to diagnose it. I'm already committed to the previous cost but I allow him so that I can get a working car. He calls back and says that the back cat converter was blocked and did me a favor by cleaning it and he didn't know it was the cat because there's no sensor and he had consulted with another shop which then told him to check it. He did not offer me any other solution such as replacing it. Then while he was putting it back he broke a pipe and added an additional cost. By the end of it I was at almost $4100!!!
I paid the extremely hefty fee happy to have a working car. Not even 15 minutes of driving later I had my toddler and baby in the car and the car started dying. It almost didnt even make it back to the auto shop and I heard some tapping coming from the dashboard. Extremely unsafe and poorly checked by them. I called back panicked as to what happened. Mike lied and said he drove it about 15km but there's no way he did because then he would of encountered problems as I did. The next day he calls again to tell me that I need a new engine because there's a spun bearing. Mike caused the damage and then tried to blame me saying that the cat blockage caused too much pressure to the engine which caused the power loss and spun bearing but if that was the case then this would of been evident when I brought the car in. The tapping from the dashboard was a symptoms of a mistimed chain which caused the spun bearing. He then had the audacity to say if I wanted he would put another engine in for additional $1500 CASH. He wanted more money after causing all the issues.
Mike acted as if I was to blame and asked me if I had 5 years of trade school and 20 years of experience. No I don't and that's why I trusted them and they did nothing but take advantage. He is refusing to take any accountability for his actions and then trying to squeeze every dime I have. He has no sympathy for his victims.
He can't even properly explain things to his customers and always says things like "probably this" is the reason. He clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. He kept saying "how would we know?" When it's literally his job to know and inform the customer so they can make an informed decision. He robbed that of me.
He also got aggressive when my dad asked him to either put a new engine in at no cost or refund the money we spent. We didnt even yell at him. He was offended when i told him the chain was mistimed and then he was pissed that my dad wasn't buying his lame excuse. Donna was ushering him away as he was trying his best to keep from swearing at us.
Upon consulting with many other mechanics after the fact I learned that diagnosing the cat blockage would be easily done with gauging the temp with their tools and doesn't take more than 20 minutes. I spoke to about 4 mechanics who are all In agreeance that I was scammed, overcharged, and that Klotz is incompetent. The likelihood of the cat causing a spun bearing is HIGHLY UN

Keep your car away from this place! These guys are definitely running some type of money scamming scheme where they lure you in and hit you with tons of up-pricing charges. The mechanic Mark seems very incompetent when it comes to explaining things technically and the receptionist is completely rude and obnoxious. I wish I had seen the previous reviews on this place but the damage was already done. Hopefully someone will read this and know where not to bring their vechicles for repairs.

I recently had my alternator replaced at Klotz auto. A week later my truck broke down. I had it towed back to Klotz and they found that the alternator they installed was incorrect. They owned the mistake and installed the correct part without charge. This was a total surprise to me as, generally speaking, most mechanics aren't that honest. Needless to say, I believe I have found the RIGHT mechanics to perform any future work on any of my vehicles. I would strongly recommend Klotz auto to anyone indeed of repairs to their vehicle.

Klotz Auto has been the most expensive mistake I have ever made. In my opinion Klotz Auto is incompetent, unprofessional, completely untrustworthy, way overpriced, and they do not honor their warranty. The quote from Klotz to replace the head gaskets on my Toyota 4Runner was $4200, which included a timing chain kit, taxes in. I also asked to have a new water pump installed, and OEM head gaskets from Toyota, because the gaskets had been redesigned to prevent head gasket failure. I supplied the head gaskets from Toyota at a price of $232.When we picked up the completed truck the bill had bloated from $4200 to $5034. There was a $200 part needed that was not part of the original quote. Mark and another employee confirmed a new water pump was installed.Klotz failed to install the OEM Toyota head gaskets. I was told that the aftermarket gaskets we’re cheaper, and that they we’re trying to save me money. Klotz didn’t need to order gaskets because they already had the OEM gaskets that I provided. Toyota would not take back the gaskets so I lost the $232.2 weeks later the truck overheated and blew a rad hose off. I was 450 km away from home, and I incurred $1232.83 in towing fees.Klotz replaced a rad hose. There was no reason given as to why the truck over-heated. It was then that I observed that the water pump had not been replaced. Mark could not provide a valid reason as to why he, and another employee mislead us. Then Mike told me that I needed to get my head examined if I thought they would replace parts needlessly and his Dad said they could replace the water pump, but I would have to pay for it. Klotz chose to insult rather than make it right.I called Klotz Auto on Nov 2nd with 6 days and 323 km’s left on the warranty to ask them to look at the truck. It was losing coolant. The leak was not external. The top rad hose was extremely swollen and had tremendous pressure in it. Even though I had a valid warranty Mike told me that I would have to pay for them to look at it. I did not return to Klotz.I then visited my regular mechanic and asked him to replace the thermostat, and the water pump. My mechanic told me that when Klotz re-installed the old pump, they re-used the gasket and rubber O ring and also used sealant on the gasket and O ring. Mike Klotz did this work.GATES TECHZONE ARTICLE. RULE#33. DON’T APPLY SEALANT TO AN O-RING OR A DRY SEALWhen changing a water pump, replace all old gaskets and seals with a new one. Perhaps you’re tempted to apply sealant to an O-ring or a dry seal, just to be ‘extra safe’, but these seals don’t need sealant!Only apply sealant if the vehicle manufacturer recommends it, and don’t use too much of it. Put a thin, even bead along the edge and wipe off the excess before mounting the water pump. If you do this after you’ve mounted the water pump, you won’t be able to see the excess sealant on the inside, where it will damage the cooling system. The sealant will clump together into chunks that contaminate the coolant and can cause leakage or do terrible damage to the thermostat. My regular mechanic could not believe that Klotz did this. This is completely against industry standards, and shows incompetence and indifference. Klotz ignored all of my requests and the work they did has damaged the engine.Klotz could have replaced the water pump, the gasket and O ring as requested for about $125.00. I anticipate that Klotz will try to say that they didn’t remove the pump, but there is no question that they did. The water pump was the original and had never been removed from the truck so it would not be covered in fresh sealant. The 4Runner never left us roadside or overheated until after being at Klotz Auto. In my opinion Klotz Auto is a joke, and for them to say that their customers are their number 1 priority is laughable. Because the truck is still losing coolant, I have to top it up every 2 weeks and we drive it around town only. What a waste of $5034.I wish you luck if you choose to do business with Klotz Auto. You will need it! I would give 0 stars if possible.Service: Engine repair
