We had a lovely week.
Pros: Amazing view from Sunset Villa 112. I loved waking up & going to sleep with lake view & private feeling. The kitchen well set up and unit in good condition. Lovely pool area. Gym well laid out and variety. Games and crafting areas are spacious and comfortable. Tom, the repairman, did his beat to fix the cable. He’s a gem! Staff are pleasant. We have had a great week.
Areas of growth if going for 5*: 1) Bedding - cotton sheets rather than polyester/cotton blend. Pillow cases seemed to be cotton but sheets were not. There was only a thinner polyester spread on the main bed and 2 polyester light blankets for sofa bed. If aiming for 5’s - I would have cotton duvet cover and have the synthetic duvet in it. 2) Layout of furniture & TV in the unit. A few ideas: The long couch was awkwardly positioned right in front of the patio door swing. So change the door swing or May be putting long couch along window/patio pane. The tv could go on wall with swinging pivot whether towards couch or cooking in kitchen. 3) attention to finishing details in the base boards and casing. We know the units have been updated -again if you want 5’s - the devil is in the detail. Cable was intermittent on both TV’s. Tom really tried but it was going to be a bigger fix. It might be worth getting “smart” TVs that one can sign into their Netflix/crave/disney.
Just a reminder too to have the heat on the day of arrival. We assumed it was on and froze the first night even with all the blankets.
Thanks for a good week.

We had a wonderful time here (mid-September). Beautiful, spacious, comfortable and clean room; lovely upper balcony and lower porch; stunning views of the lake; great service; great facilities (pool, hot tub, kayaks, docks, sandy beach), close to hiking trails at Calabogie Peaks. We will definitely be returning.

We spent a week at the lodge in August.
We rented the 3 bedroom unit for the 6 of us. ( two young children included)
The place was kept clean outside and inside. (the unit was spotless and very well equipped with everything we needed)
We could make fire outside and make smores. It was a community fireplace so other people joined us by the fire. This was a nice way to meet people and chat about nearby places or other Calabogie topics.
The resort had watercrafts and we used the canoe daily.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and we can hardly wait to go back.
It is a great place for nature lovers and we can hardly wait to get back.

I am reporting a complaint with Calabogie Lodge Resort.
My name is Stephen Bourque and I am a retired CF pensioner.
I made an online booking and 50 % credit card deposit with Calabogie Resort on 06 August 2024 for 1 night stay for myself and my wife for the evening of 03 September 2024. We would be traveling from Edmonton that day by air and rental vehicle and it was my idea to find a nice place to stay overnight for us to sleep and some leisure time by the lake. We were enroute to visit family in Petawawa for a week. I got buyers remorse when I read the fine print and saw that checkout was 10 AM. My wife is ambulatory with a cane and takes pills for heart failure that are not agreeable with a 10 AM checkout (we always request a 12 noon checkout) I called to cancel the very next day. I was told by the manager they would not refund because they have a 30 day non refundable policy. If this is not illegal it should be. They had no recourse for me so OK, we will try to make the best of it.
On Sept 03 Jane and I landed in Ottawa at 630 PM. Our luggage was late on the carousel and it was 8pm by the time we got our rental vehicle. We arrived in Calabogie at 10 PM and it was dark of night and we are tired, and travel weary impaired. There is no one on duty after 9 PM to give us a room key at Lodge reception and I didn't see the instructions posted for late arrivals (travel weary impaired) at the front entrance. I called the phone number I had for the resort front desk, twice, and got no answer. By now it's 1030 PM. Luckily, we were able to get accomodations at a local hotel at that late hour. They charged my credit card for the remaining balance the very next day without checking us in even though I made every effort to get to the resort in a timely manner and they knew in advance we were travelling from Edmonton Alberta, that day. We feel we didn't receive any consideration or the customer service we needed and want our money back. My bank records show 2 separate charges from Calabogie Lodge against my credit card totalling $368.26.

Perfect place to spend time with family. A lot of activities to do (pool, boats, game room, gym, play structure, beach, tennis courts), great location on the lake, quite place. I like that you have everything you need in your room, so it makes your stay in a hotel very comfortable. Kids and us enjoyed a week of stay.

We stayed in Calabogie Lodge for the second time and it was again the same awesome experience as before. This place has very rare combination of features- beautiful scenery, clean, spacious and fully stocked units, great amenities, super friendly and accommodating staff, proximity to Ottawa and walking distance to nice grocery store in case you run out of food. This place is equally super good for families with kids of various age and for adult travelers.
This time I made a mistake and booked only one night instead of three. The receptionists found us another unit and made sure we were staying in the same villa, so it would be easy to move. Also we were allowed to check in in the second unit as soon as it was ready, so we did not have to wait outside. It was so nice of them! We will definitely return!
