This is the worst Storage facility. The girl that was trying to upsell me said the owner is old and doesn’t care. So it’s obvious the place is runner in a certain manner. They only cater to the old customers from the original owner. In other words “Old Money”. Their customers service representative are unprofessional and don’t have any escalations skills. This company needs a complete make over -They don’t even have a head office in Canada

This is the worst storage unit. Andrea or whatever her name is a District Manager and has failed to handle my situation.. They have refused to issue me a refund for a unit that I have cancelled on stop. I used a debit card and told that their American Head office are the only ones to issue refunds. It’s been since Oct 28, 2024. I came in and Maddison was pushing me out of the store and tried to call police become I am Black. He called police and lied to police that I am being disruptive because he wants to prove a point. I called the police initial so when he called with his lies, I called back and the Police said they would cancel call as they can tell he call was baseless and racially motivated. Madison has my personal home address as he went into the account to give police and my plate number, thinking I would be arrested because I’m black! What a “KEN” as soon he came off the phone with Andrea he grew balls. He is rude, sarcastic and passively rude, has no customer service skills, he doesn’t know when to stop talking passive aggressive and has bad breath. I guess he expected me to run when he called the police. I stayed and called the police back, spoke with the original operator who knew the story and canceled his call. I’m physically disabled and he tried to say I’m not leaving store when it take time with my disability. Terrible employee and Andra the district Manager need to be fired with Madison.

Amee is an absolutely excellent employee here at Smartstop. The location is clean and well maintained. Check-in and check-out is a breeze.

Negative experience;
We called on a Saturday afternoon to inquire if the storage facility was open on a Sunday , we were told it was , Arrived there around 1:00pm to find the door locked and no one around , We were in our car ready to leave when a lady came and went into the office .
It was open, she said she had to step out for a few minutes and didn’t put the sign on the door to say she’d be back , it was on a lanyard around her neck,
We had to ask multiple questions , She did not volunteer very much , We had to ask about the one month free offer and she eventually applied it . Not impressed!

Renting for a less than 6 months, one of their smallest units and the price more than doubled for the next payment. When asked they told me it would go up every 6-7months there after as well.

Renting a 5 by 10 outside unit since Feb of this year for $99 per month. Last invoice received was for $175. A 76% increase is less then one year??
With no advance notice. Be careful when renting from them.
