Parking lot is stressful due to where the entrance and exit are. Plus very busy when I went. On the expensive side. But very clean and fresh produce.

The flower department is awesome, and the few people that I've dealt with there are very helpful.
The rest of the staff are borderline rude and unhelpful. I go out of my way to not go here because of that.

Metro Bowmanville. This store has an extremely large self checkout area and recently removed even more cashier stations and added more self checkouts. You are lucky if there are two cashiers working and the store obviously doesn’t care how long the lines are. They figure people will give up and use self checkout. I will never use those job killers. Metro gets rid of employees and expects you to do their work. I have taken the majority of my family’s business to No Frills in Newcastle where prices are far better and cashier stations actually have friendly employees in them.

It was my little one's birthday party, and I initially chose to order a cake from Metro. However, when I asked if they could personalize the cake with writing, I learned that they weren't able to accommodate that request. I inquired about alternative options, but the response was unhelpful. This led me to consider Dairy Queen for the cake instead. While I believe there’s room for improvement in customer service at both locations, I hope my feedback can encourage a more flexible approach in the future to enhance the birthday celebration experience for others.

Took back moldy sausage buns that I bought the day before. I had the bill. They took them back but man did they ever make me feel like I'm trying to fraud them out 4.50 I said omg if its that big a deal keep them and 4.50 I'm trying to prevent people from buying these moldy ass out dated looking buns. I had 2 other items.to buy 1 being another pack of buns. Do you think she rung me in.... nope. With customer service like this people wonder why their loosing jobs to self checkout. Geez

I use self checkout because I have OCD and also am an introvert. Why does the staff who moniters the self checkout think it is okay to unload my cart to the little shelf provided then take my bags out of my cart, load my groceries into the bags and then put my bags in my cart. This drives me to distraction. I am using SELF checkout because I want to do it all by myself. I can perhpas understand if I am slow and holding up a long line of people but there was nobody in line waiting. So she throws the bags in cart, everything smashed in with no degree of order and I get home and am missing a 9 dollar package of ham and my bread is squashed flat because she threw heavy items on to of th bread. I can only assume the package of ham fell out of a bag she overloaded and hap hazardly threw into the cart. How can I go back and prove that I did not have that package of ham when I got home? I can't. So Metro, Manager, if you read your reivews, please instruct your staff to keep hands off the groceries for your customers who choose to use self checkout. Rant over.

Store is more expensive than most other grocery chains and has a significant problem with spoiled produce and baked goods. On almost every visit there are a few products on shelves clearly moulding and still being sold, often contaminating the other produce. Spoiled produce that expired in July can still be found on the shelf. Not getting what you pay for

Metro has great choices for reasonable prices. They aren't always the cheapest locations but I love their brands and variety. They keep a high standard of products. I especially like their in house bakery and fresh to go sections. You wouldn't belive it but Metro pizza's and panzerottis are made with an excellent standard for a cheap price. There is no chain that can beat Metro's 16 inch Pizza for $16.00 with 3 toppings included in that price. Then Metro goes and does promotions every once in a while where you and by a 16 inch pizza for $12.00! Look out for these specials because they are worth it!!
Metro is expanding their app. Before you would use the app for seeing their flyer virtually and if you wanted to order online. Now Metro is putting up promotions, coupons and will eventually have their own point system!! You should keep an eye out on Metro deals and more.

Unpleasant experience at this Metro location. This has been my go to grocery store for many years but I have recently had an experience that needs to be shared. The bakery manager Greg was so very rude and unprofessional. It is not ok to talk about your staff in a negative manner at anytime and then share your disapproval of them to your customers. This lack of basic respect and care was apalling. I do hope the bakery team working under you have reached out to HR or their union for support. These employees shouldn't not be subjected to the ignorance of this management team at this location.
