On my first visit to Northern Cycle on a quiet Saturday afternoon, I got a sense the people who work here are kind and enthusiastic about all kinds of cycling from casual to competitive... We experienced patient, non-judgemental help. I plan to come again and hope to build a relationship with such a nice bike shop. I need a new go to bike shop too, as my one of my favourite bike stores just closed its doors and moved North.
Northen Cycle has an impressive selection of bikes and assesories, I saw everything from casual bikes to high end moutain bikes. The store has an emphansis on mountain and trail but many road and communting bikes to choose from too. I read a comment that they did not carry many assessories. I thought differently, as I saw lots of assessories and parts to choose from. No bike store has everything but Northern Cycle has a decent if not large selection of pedals, saddle bags, saddles, clothing, etc.
The experience was so good my spouse bought a bike. We were lucky that it was a quiet day but it allowed her to choose freely and select the one she wanted. Thank you.

This place is a godsend if you're cycling far along the waterfront trail and need an emergency repair. They not only replaced my busted inner tube, but did a quick checkup of my bike before sending me off back on the road.

As a female rider, I wasn't sure what to expect in a sport that is mostly dominated by men!
My experience has been nothing but the best, thanks to all the staff at Northern Cycle! From the moment I walked into the store, Melissa the sales lady gave me all the information that I needed and let me test ride the bike and I purchased it the same day. I even purchased the additional battery for longer rides.
Unfortunately after 5,000 kms, I had a flat tire and Colin and Josh replaced the inner tube the very next morning, so I could ride again. What a JOY! I can highly recommend Northern Cycle for the stellar service they provide, the knowledge and professionalism of all the staff who make it an enjoyable experience to deal with them!

I came in with 2 old tires, one of which had just popped. We had hoped to going biking on Toronto island the next day, they were kind enough to squeeze in a quick repair for both tires.

Simply put... this is my "Go To" cycling shop in the Durham Region. I purchased my 1st major bike, after coming back to the sport, in the mid 90's and I've never gone anywhere else since. The great products, knowledge and friendliness of the team is why I keep going back.

Amazing place! Had my wife's 30 year old bike tuned up and it was only $120 (Thats with a lot of new parts). Had my bike fixed which had serious issues for only $30. Amazing people and amazing service! Very honest people

Went to inquire about my 30+ year old bike and whether or not it was worth it to do tune up or purchase a new one whole. Collin took care of us and explained everything we needed to know to make our decision. He was really helpful and you can tell he truly cared and wanted to ensure that we were happy with our decision and that it was the safest/most cost effective decision. With over 30 years experience he is trustworthy and just wants do provide good service with the knowledge he know! You don't see that very often anymore, so its nice to see experts really caring and sharing their knowledge to tend to customer needs.

Cycling across Canada, I had sudden front wheel issues. Northern Cycle is conveniently located right off the Water Front Trail. I stopped by, stressed out, and they helped me tremendously. Took the front wheel apart, and fixed it, free of charge. I am so grateful to the repair shop for their quick response on a busy day for them. I recommend them for anything you need! They have a great shop as well... Thank you Northern Cycle!!!

Price gouging on service; they charge separate fees to adjust front and rear derailleurd - I've never even heard of anyone doing that!

I ordered a red Trek Marlin 5 Gen 2 from Joshjust todayHe’s very helpful and accommodating , answered all my questions about the bikeHe was the one who informed me about getting the brakes equipped with Shimano instead of other brandsIt will take a week to get itI will update you on how things will go after I receive it if I am retaining my 5 star review or not?

My recent trip to Northern Cycle in Ajax on July 26, 2023, left me with a somewhat mixed experience. I was greeted by a friendly staff member who assisted me in my search for a bike rack and storage trunkbag, the overall impression of the store and its offerings fell short of my expectations.
On the positive side, the staff's friendliness and willingness to assist were commendable. They were patient with my queries and offered valuable insights into the products I was interested in. Their customer service added a pleasant touch to my shopping experience. I appreciated their efforts to guide me through the available options for the bike rack and trunkbag, although I didn't find what I was looking for.
The store's limitations were evident. The size of the shop was quite small, which resulted in the store feeling crowded and with a severely restricted product range. I found myself unable to explore a variety of choices and models for the items I sought.
When I inquired about getting a quote for bike tune-ups, I was taken back by the pricing. The quotes received were not as competitive as those offered by another local bike store. This raised some concerns about Northern Cycle's pricing strategy and made me question the overall value I would receive from their services.
Northern Cycle in Ajax has its positives, primarily centered around the friendly staff. However, the store's limited selection and pricing on certain services might make potential buyers think twice before committing to a purchase. While I appreciate the assistance provided during our visit, I would advise others to explore alternative options in the area to ensure they find the best possible products and solutions they are looking for.
