“I've been looking for a new book / series to get into and a friend recommended I visiting GNU books. I am a huge fan of used book stores, the way they smell, especially when books are neat and orderly where they need to be, but piled haphazardly when they don't. It's a well stocked store with thousands of books available across the most popular genres (maybe even all of them).Highly recommend if you are looking for a book out of print, hard to find, or just tired of paying $20 for a paperback.”

The store has moved and undergone some changes since last reviewed. They're currently located in the basement of their building which is unfortunately extremely un-wheelchair accessible, it is a narrow, steep concrete stairwell.

However at the bottom of said stairs is a pretty cool store! While they no longer sell single cards (Magic, Pokémon, etc.) they do still sell supplies and sealed products but their bread and butter are comics. They've probably got the largest collection of CGC slabs East of Mississauga, not to mention a respectable collection of vintage comics. There's a good selection of trades and even a few Omnis.

I get the sense the store is actively trying to maintain a consistently smaller rolling inventory as it's quite frequently the case that they've sold out of a recent title I'm looking for. Casual browsing just yields fewer impulse purchases as a consequence, for me.

They do promote pull lists and are happy to order for you!

I will point out, if you play Commander and like the UltraPro MiniSnap cases for your general, this seems to be the only outlet that's been able to get them in! They ordered them for me and I was delighted to have them in the next week.”

“Very small and awkwardly shaped (it’s a parallelogram of sorts) and probably should be bigger since the nearest Indigo is in east Ajax or Scarborough. Though I suppose Coles is typically smaller anyway. They have a decent selection for the size but likely not going to find everything you’re looking for. This is especially true for toys, gifts, things that aren’t just books. Staff are polite and the place is clean and organized, just more cramped for my liking.”
