Came for the Independence Day fireworks. I went to 6 firework shows this year, and this was by far the best one! The drive out there (which took me about an hour and a half) was very nice, and everyone was greeted with a beautiful double rainbow just before the sun set. I didn't go inside the museum (it was closed), but the grounds outside were immaculate! Even with so many people gathered for the firework show, you can still feel a sense of peace and serenity here.

A Mi'kmaw Indian was here, visiting my relatives of Indian Country, on Turtle Island, while rejecting the racist, dehumanizing Christian doctrine of discovery.

HALITO!!!It was an honor to have discovered my Choctaw ancestry and be able to visit Choctaw Nation in the summer of 2023. This is a few pics I took. Upon entering the grounds you will find a tribute to my 7th generation great grand father Chief Pushmataha. He played a very important role when he reigned as Chief. He is buried in Washington D.C. alongside the President's of the United States. His grand daughter Aihnichih "Nikki" Ohoyo married my 5th generation grandfather General James Garland. His son Joseph Gent Garland and grandson William Greenwood Garland went on and served as Judges on the Choctaw tribal council. It was such an honor to walk through the halls and sit in the courtroom where they all served in. Also pictured is my 5th generation great Uncle Chief Samuel Garland. His photos can be found on the 2nd floor of the museum. I drove 12 hours to experience this and will consider this the BEST trip of my life! This trip humbled me and now I am Choctaw Proud!

This is a very clean museum. It is small but definitely a significant piece of Choctaws modern history. The gift shop is great, and the staff is very nice.Check it out if you're in the area. It's definitely worth it if you are going for labor day.

Stop by here to check out the new Choctaw History trail and War Memorial trail that is located on the Museum grounds. This walking trail has several marker that tell the history of the Choctaw Nation and Marker of the Choctaw that fought for this country. So even if the museum is closed you can still stop by and take a look around. Well worth the time.

Although we visited on a rainy Sunday and knew it was closed on Sundays, we had a wonderful experience. Beautiful grounds, large village recreation and interesting statues/information.
