Dr Ricker and Dr Duell are top notch and took care of our puppy over multiple visits. The staff was very professional and compassionate. Worth every penny, excellent care.

We’ve visited OVS with both of our dogs. We live in Arkansas and make the drive for the excellent specialized care. Our older dog had a TPLO surgery with Dr. Ricker last year. This surgery greatly improved her quality of life, and we appreciated the level of care OVS provided. Our other dog had seen Dr. Hodges for chemotherapy for canine lymphoma. Dr. Hodges, his team, and the front desk workers have made all of our time at OVS as easy as possible. Because of their knowledge and recommendations on treatment, we were able to have 4 extra months with our cancer pup. This time with our dog was priceless to us and wouldn’t have been possible if not for the team at OVS. Thank you!

Dr. Clark saved my best friend and I will forever be so grateful. My border collie rapidly developed myasthenia gravis. I had taken him to six other vets in the OKC area and no one would listen, they just wrote it off as arthritis or hip dysplasia and repeatedly sent us home with pain medications. We spent months carrying him around, debating whether to keep fighting for him or put him down. It was a terrible time. When we took him to OK Vet Specialists he was struggling to breathe at this point and I’d made the decision that this was the last vet we’d try as I couldn’t watch him suffer anymore. Dr. Clark immediately and accurately diagnosed him. They got him started on a medication and he was making a miraculous recovery within 30 minutes of leaving. She listened and cared, and even worked us in during her lunch to get us seen. My dog is now living a normal, high quality life again. I really appreciated how communicative she was, I just can't say enough great things about her.

This was absolutely the worst vet visit I’ve ever had if I could give it a 0 star I would. First I walked in before my dad carried my dog in and she asked if my dog was aggressive, all because she’s a pit bull mix. They then proceeded to tell me after taking my ID that id be signing papers, to agree that I wasn’t under the influence of anything. I was agreeing to letting my dog be treated and other things which I was okay with, but how do you say to someone straight up at 9pm that they are under the influence. We get into the room and I’m trying to talk to the tech about what we knew happened, and she just walked out mid conversation. This is the most unprofessional place I’ve ever been too in my whole life! Once they came in and told us we needed an X-ray the nurse came in and talked prices with us and proceeded to make us pay right then and there. They asked my father for his ID to make sure the card was his… When we went back to the room and the doctor came back in there was no showing us the X-rays to explain and process. Then tell us how they thought amputation could be a good option for a broke leg on a 1 year old puppy. Also explained how surgery with THEM would cost 4k for just pins in two bones? And just explained to us how they just wanted our money. We then talked about having to sedate her to put on a cast till we take her to our vet in the morning, and the doctor was VERY upset with our choice. Made us pay once again for everything before it was done. Before we left they came back with a finalized bill saying they would be refunding about $93 because they didn’t use everything and the lady was also very upset about this. We left and I hope we never have to go back again. I will refuse to bring any animal here where they only want to collect a pay check and not make sure animals are okay and safe, and prefer to stereotype people because of their names and how they’re dressed.

I had to bring in my 3 year old cat last Friday night after she ingested some string. The staff were helpful, kind, and patient from the phone call to the visit itself, took care of the issue, let me borrow a phone charger when my phone died so that I could use Google Maps to get back home, and charged me less than they had estimated over the phone. They got her in and treated immediately; there was a bit of a wait to get discharged, but that was understandable as they had a critical case come in. If we ever have another emergency situation outside of my normal vet's hours, I'll definitely be back to OVS.

We had to put our very old dog down unexpectedly when our regular vet wasn't open. OVS made it a very calm and easy experience. All the staff were kind, gentle, and caring. I also appreciated that there was a special room, just for people in our situation. No pressure to hurry and get out of the room or move on to the next person.

I had taken my dog here about a month ago, and she got all of her services done (blood work, x-ray, etc) thankfully absolutely nothing was wrong with her and I loved the doctor, she was great. But the front desk made a very huge mistake. I was given an invoice with the plan to pay $812; I was prepared to pay that amount AT THAT TIME. I signed a contract/invoice but was given NO receipt. Come to find out, almost a MONTH LATER (21 days to be exact) they call me to tell me that she undercharged me $200.. she repeatedly said that it was her mistake but I still had to pay. I understand that I signed an invoice of $812, but the fact that she was the one who made the mistake is not my problem to fix. I had the money AT THAT TIME and NEVER got a receipt, so I assumed that I was charged the $812, but 21 days later, and having bills to pay, $200 is not so easy to come across. Maybe next time they will take better consideration into who they hire and make sure they are fully competent enough for the tasks that the position requires (especially when very large sums of money are involved) I am not happy, to say the least and will be taking my business elsewhere.

I didn’t bother bringing my dog in because when I called at 5am panicked that something was wrong, every person I spoke to on the phone was rude and unhelpful. Every question I asked was met with obvious annoyance and impatience. I would never feel comfortable having my dog in the care of people with such poor attitudes unless I had literally no other option.

Thankfully, I’ve never needed an emergency veterinary service for my dogs before but this weekend, our fierce Jack Russell Terrier named Al decided it was time to experience the ER.
We literally just moved to the state of Oklahoma two weeks ago, so when Al started experiencing seizure-like symptoms in the middle of the night, we were terrified. We don’t even have a primary vet here yet. Heck, we don’t even know how to go anywhere yet without GPS instructions. We did a quick, frantic Google search which led us to Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists.
We arrived around 4:00am on Saturday morning, and everyone was curious to listen, upfront about wait times and pricing, and most importantly, compassionate.
Our dog had to stay for around 28 total hours with an IV for observation, and they called with regular updates, and encouraged me to call (if I wanted even more updates) and to visit anytime. We did visit our baby, and they were so accommodating by putting us in an exam room. Our other dog even got to come in to see how her brother was doing!
Obviously, needing emergency services is something everyone hopes they don’t have to go through, but in a time of desperate need, I couldn’t have asked for a more positive experience. I’m incredibly grateful for the 24/7 care that Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists provides… that’s not easy.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring for and loving Al this weekend! We’re so glad he’s back home with us now. ??

(Update) This is not a very good animal hospital to go to they require an ID for your animal to be seen even though you have cash I was helping someone move today and I left my wallet all the way across the state and these people would not see my animal simply because I did not have an ID that I could have provided at a later time. He is literally dying. I don't know what to do. Can't believe you have to have an ID to see an animal. I will never come or call this hospital again. They were not empathetic at all. We are at another hospital and I'll check up with his primary tomorrow. You guys are heartless. The secondary hospital on 51st was able to save his life without me having to have my drivers license. This is an over priced corporatized establishment that only cares about money not the animals. If you are wealthy this is the place for you. That determines the level of service you are given. As a business owner I treat all my Cx the same no matter if they are wealthy or not. I will not support snooty businesses. I wish I could remember the rude girl that was working behind the counter that night that looked at me as if I was pond scum because I didn’t bring my drivers license the heartless non sincere look on her face because I wasn’t her usually rich pretty face she usually looks at. Anyway Riff is doing wonderful thanks to the other Vet Hospital. They only charged me 200 for the meds. This overly priced corporation wanted to charged me 2k just to be seen. God world in mysterious ways. There’s probably a reason he didn’t want me bringing it in that low down sorry establishment. Thanks

They really are incompetent. When visiting a professional establishment like this, you expect a certain level of knowledge and care that reflects that expertise. We paid close to $500 for emergency care for our 3-year-old pug, expecting premium services. However, the doctors initially insisted he ingested marijuana and later suggested he might have PDE, a rare and deadly neurological disease. It turned out he had a heat stroke, which we discovered on our own after their ‘premium treatment.’ This review has been a long time coming; the treatment was received over a year ago, and following their advice could have been fatal. Companies charging premium prices should be held accountable, ensuring customers receive the care they paid for or are reimbursed accordingly.

My baby had to have an emergency surgery over the weekend. I can not say enough good things about this place and the care my girl received. From the front staff, to the nurses, to the er doc, to the the surgeon.....literally everyone was so patient, so kind, so compassionate and just over all EXCELLENT! Dr. Riker took the time to update us on her status and was so kind and so informative. He even took the time out of his busy day to come say hi when we came to visit her after surgery. You all made one of the most difficult decisions so easy and treated our baby like your own. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! We went in 100% in the mindset that we may have to make an unimaginable decision to put her down. Not only is she still with us, she is already pottying on her own and attempting to stand! We drove 2 hours to see yall and will forever be customers of this clinic!

Our basset hounds are such special gifts to our family. We never deserved such wonderful dogs. When one of our beautiful hounds fell ill to lymphoma, we were completely distraught. We started making calls to every vet within a three-state radius. When the soonest appointment was three weeks out, we thought we would have to say goodbye within days. But OVS changed everything. We got a call from Madi at OVS to arrange a special visit that same day. And that’s where we met Dr. Hodges and Jen. That’s the day our lives changed and that’s the day Oreo’s journey to wellness started. We got 10 more beautiful months with our precious dog, Oreo. There were lots of ups and downs with Oreo’s health, but OVS was there the whole time for us. I could go on for pages describing the infatigable efforts of everyone at OVS, but invariably I would miss many of the staff who cared so deeply for Oreo. There was the night ER and ICU staff—watching and caring and recording everything about Oreo. Making sure she was well fed, hydrated and comfortable. There are Dr. Hodges’ team of Jen and Anna who would get down on the floor with Oreo and care for her as though Oreo was their own. There were the multiple ER doctors, Dr. Freije, Dr. Hale, Dr. Nestor, Dr. Pratt, Dr. Stanton, Dr. Ball, and Dr. Huckabay who all cared for Oreo.
The countless vet techs and assistants, many of whom I never met but always cared for Oreo. I wish I knew your names so I could thank you as well. Thank you Tony for always being so kind.
Thank you Madi and Ashton and Kenzie. Thank you for taking my call and caring enough to call me back and giving us 10 more months. Thank you for making Oreo’s room every time she visited. Thank you for hugging her and saying goodnight to her before you left for the evening.
Finally, thank you Dr. Hodges. Thank you for all the late nights and long days, the empathy, the follow-up, and thank you for sharing your extraordinary gift in veterinary medicine to help extend Oreo’s life in both health and quality. We were new to Oklahoma when we met you, and you treated us like family. Oreo loved seeing you. No matter her condition, she alway wagged her tail when she saw her friends at OVS.
God bless you all. Thank you for your care. Oreo was the best girl. She deserved the best care, and that’s what she got with OVS.
All that to say, I highly recommend Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists.
