I did not have a good experience with Nelson Mazda and, in particular, Tanya Fischer and her team. As a result, I give them a 1-star rating based on the following:
Nelson Mazda moved to the CarMax pricing model. After a five-minute braggadocious spill about why Nelson Mazda moved to a no-haggle, “fair” pricing model, I was immediately put off by the
pretentiousness of the salesperson’s speech and her unproven claim that most customers like the model.
Frankly, I wondered whether the no-haggle, fair pricing model takes customer’s opinion into account or whether the model represents a “take it or leave it” pricing, which I soon found out.
Upon asking for a deeper discount, i.e., a Veteran’s discount, the salesperson appeared to have taken offense and re-explained the “take it of leave it” pricing model. She seemed a bit perturbed for having to re-explain it.
Friends, don’t fall for this model. No-haggle is a nice way of saying, “we don’t negotiate our prices.” The power is the hands of the dealership and you are at their mercy. Furthermore, it provides an excuse for the dealership to, in effect, work against your preference or needs. Tanya really didn’t care about my
opinion or my evaluation of the car itself. Her sole focus was to sell the purchase price, not the car.
Tanya’s managers followed up with me via text message, but they conveyed the same pretentious talking points about the no-haggle (aka “take it or leave it”) pricing model and the lack of any offer for a discount opportunity, even if I was willing to pay cash. By the way, most financial experts advise to pay cash, if you have it, and offer between 20% to 15% percent off.
Their response was disheartening and lacked authenticity, especially to not offer a Veteran’s discount, which is just heartless.
Unbeknownst to the dealership, I was 99% prepared to purchase the vehicle I test drove and to drive it off the lot for the purchase price less $1K only. However, their inability to consider a deeper discount and pretentious attitude discouraged any further discussions or dealings. They couldn’t get over the fact that
someone disagreed with their listed purchase price and a request for an additional discount.
Finally, after much contemplation, I decided not to hand over my hard-earned dollars to a dealership that is so proud of their pricing model they wouldn’t even consider a Veteran’s discount. Their no-haggle pricing model is double-speak for “take it or leave it” and fosters no room for additional discounts and
fosters a lack of incentive to consider a reduction in price that best fits the customer’s preference or need. When it comes to dealerships, there “are plenty of fish in the sea” who value my hard-earned dollars and desire the customer’s wish to save as much as he can, when he can. Those dealerships truly
care about working on a purchase price that best fits the customer. Nelson Mazda is not one of those
dealerships.

Helping my son buy his first car, we worked with 5 different salespeople at various dealerships in the area. Tanya Fischer at Nelson Mazda was by far the most helpful, organized, kind, and patient. She went above and beyond to help my son. I'm thankful he got to work with the others and then with her. That way he could understand how exceptional she is. I was also able to teach him about recurring sales, "When you buy your next car, which one of the 5 will you call? Which one worked the hardest? Which one will prosper and help their dealership the most?"
Good job Nelson Mazda, recruiting and providing a dealership environment for quality sales staff like her!
One more positive, walking through their lot to find the car he found online, it looked like almost all were quality cars. His car was inspected by our mechanic after buying it. Not a single issue. Good job Nelson Mazda!

I recently drove to Tulsa to purchase from Nelson Mazda. I was very pleased with the friendly staff and business model of the dealership. It was one of the least stressful car buying experiences I've had and the fact that they were able to give me a trade-in value on my car via email made it all the more easy. I highly recommend this dealership - well worth the 3 hour drive for me.

I just bought my brand new Mazda CX-50 from Nelson Mazda this last weekend, and I had a phenomenal experience. For a little bit of background on Saturday 08/17 my husband and I went around for test drives of different vehicles, due to the insurance company informing us that my current vehicle would more than likely be a total loss. We walked in and were greeted by staff, and saw a very busy, but well organized, clean, and comfortable lobby. We waited less than 10 minutes for our salesperson, Tanya, to sit down with us and start the process. She started by explaining to us how purchasing a vehicle at Nelson Mazda worked, and how it might be different than other dealerships. Then she asked us questions about what we were looking for in a car. (Basically big no's and big yes') THEN we talked about how those needs would fit into our preferred budget and ideal payment.
We were then treated to a private test drive. My husband and I were able to drive the vehicle comfortably and have an honest conversation about the vehicle and pricing during the test drive without worrying about the sales person being present. While we were test driving Tanya was hard at work getting those estimated numbers together about what our payments might look like.
After the test drive we told Tanya that we would have to come back and by the vehicle later because we were waiting on confirmation and a settlement from the insurance.
Once the insurance claim was finalized we scheduled an appointment to come and sign the paperwork.
On 08/23 We came in for our appointment. Tanya already had my new vehicle waiting in the lot. We started financial paperwork to get a final interest rate. While that process was happening, Tanya was able to speak with us about their service department and all the great options and services they offer. We also spoke in depth about different add ons and warranties.
We ended up with a great interest rate thanks to Mazda Financial' s current promotions. And my new car payment is lower than it was on the car that I totaled!
Over all this experience was quick, accommodating, and made us feel like we truly mattered to them. 10/10 experience and we will definitely be back!!

Colton made the car buying experience easy. No pressure, did exactly what we asked and got us a good price on our trade in. They even beat the internet price on our used Q5.

Worst experience I’ve ever had of buying a car. Saw a car online that I liked which was a 2024 Mazda cx 5 S select and went to the dealership to go look at it. When I get there our sales guy (Trystin Johnson) tells me it is the shop being repaired due to hail damage. Then I asked if he had any 2025 Mazda cx 5 and he told me no that they don’t get any 2025 in until December. I then told him I wanted to test drive a 2024 Mazda cx 5 s select and he brought me a 2025 Mazda cx 5 s preferred for me to test drive, this guy knows absolutely NOTHING! Once I was approved for the car after being there for 4 hours he was trying to get me to sign papers to purchase a car that I have not seen or test drove. Then mentioned if I did not pay $500 to reserve the car an hour before they closed, I would be charged $800 for the hail damage to be repaired. Then calls an hour later after closing to tell me that the car is sold. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP!!
UPDATE: The same night I posted the review, the general manager contacted me the same night and called me the next day wanting to resolve the issue. I met with him at the dealership and he took care of the issue as soon as I walked through the doors. He helped me get the car I wanted. Thank you to our sales person (Aaron) who did an awesome job helping me find my perfect car. I can’t thank Tom enough for his help today. Thank you Tom for being an awesome general manager and caring about customer satisfaction!

My husband and I went to purchase a car last night and had Javon as our sales associate. He was outstanding! If I could give 10 stars I would. He was not pushy, was so kind and respectful. He explained everything in detail. It was the most stress-free car buying experience I have ever had. Will definitely recommend Nelson Mazda for all car buying needs! Thank you!!! Very Impressed!!!! We also loved the environment and appreciated the Christian music.

I had a great experience with Colby Cullum today! He helped me today to purchase a used vehicle. He answered all questions related to the vehicle and was very personal and friendly. He made me feel secure in the value of the vehicle and that it would be well suited for my situation and budget.

My husband and I went into Nelson Mazda on Saturday 03/16 to look at a Nissan armada. We had Barbara King assisting us. Upon arrival we thankfully didn’t get hounded. We were able to walk around and look. We test drove and the process was easy and simple. We walked out with our new car, our finance rate was lower going through them vs who we originally had, and in total we are absolutely happy with our family vehicle!! Barbara was pleasant to work with!
I am adding to my initial review. 07/12/24
Weve had the vehicle for a total of 116 days.
When we first agreed to buying the vehicle we noticed the air bag light was flashing. We told Barbara who then had a technician look at it before we went through with the purchase. They told us it just needed to be reset, and that it was good to go. Awesome! That was on 03/16/24
We went home happy! Shortly after the light came back on again. Took it in. Our vehicle was in their shop from 04/24-05/15 (21 days) which was insane. We finally got the car back. But 2 days later noticed the AC was not blowing on the right hand side of the middle and third row. (They replaced my side curtain airbag which was the same place the ac wasn’t working). The airbag light once again came on.
Had to take it in AGAIN, but they were so busy that they couldn’t get it seen until 06/28/24
They told me the ac pipe came unplugged but got it fixed. They are also still trying to figure out why the airbag light is coming on and FINALLY told me on Tuesday that they would have an engineer take a look. It’s been in their hands since the 28th and today is the 12th. 14 days and still nothing.
116 days since purchase.
35 days in their shop trying to fix the same issue.
30% of my time being without my car! I understand they are busy.. but this just seems ridiculous..
3 stars until further notice.

I purchased my car from Nelson Mazda back on 06/21. The day i purchased it my salesperson told me that they would replace the entertainment system and it would be good as new. I didn’t get to pick my car up until 06/26 only to notice that the entertainment system they chose was NOTHING like the original. The worst quality picture and sound. I went back up a few days later and of course since i purchased it on 06/21 it was past my 3 days. They looked at the entertainment system and told me the grainy quality looked “perfectly fine” to them. It is now 08/07 and the entertainment system that they apparently replaced brand new won’t turn on at all. I have restarted my car, left it over night so it would maybe come on and nothing. I then took it back up to mazda today and the service guy was super nice but they told me that they didn’t have any diagnostics appointments until the 23rd.
Update:
A few minutes later I received a call and they told me to come up there as soon as possible to get it looked at. Everything is looking good and they got it fixed.

It was an ok experience. Not great though. Th e greeting system is pretty bad. They have no idea who you are even if you call them before entering. Ended up purchasing a car from them. They left the gas tank less than half full and hadn’t changed the oil. Pretty unusual for a car dealer. Kind of feels like a mega church upon entering the place. They offer you free root beer. Salesman Jonathan was nice however.
