I switched all my accounts over to Bank of Oklahoma after Bank of America closed down my account because they disagreed with my Christian missionary work.
I have been very pleased with Bank of Oklahoma. They are friendly and helpful and the staff do a great job. BOK has more of a local feel instead of BOA's national corporate feel. The BOK branch on S. Yale has great employees and usually there is a teller available to help me right away. When I send wires, they do a good job helping me.
The only thing that I would suggest they improve is that I often need new $100 bills to take on my international trips. Their machine spits out bills, some new and some used, and it is often hard to get what I need. It would be helpful if the bank could have a way to access new looking bills for when I need to travel internationally.

I recently had an experience with the Bank of Oklahoma that left me quite disappointed. I received a check from a customer who banks with them, and when I went to cash it, I was charged a $6 fee simply because I am not an account holder. This practice feels incredibly predatory and unfair to non-account holders.
Charging such a steep fee to cash a check is not only inconvenient but also seems like a tactic to coerce people into opening accounts with the bank. This is especially frustrating when you consider that the funds are already guaranteed by the issuing bank. It seems unjustifiable to impose additional costs on individuals who may not have a choice in where their checks are drawn from.
I understand that banks need to cover their operational costs, but this policy feels like an unnecessary burden on people who are already just trying to access their own money. I hope the Bank of Oklahoma reconsiders this approach and looks for more equitable ways to serve all customers, regardless of whether they hold an account with them or not.

My father was a long-time BOK customer who passed away in February. As his executor, I went to the bank on April 14 with all required paperwork to try to close his safe deposit boxes but was told by banker Amy Hollingsworth that she needed to check with legal and would get back to me. I called multiple times over the next 3 months, leaving messages with no reply. And of course never heard back from Amy! Since I live 8 hours away, I was finally back in Tulsa on June 20 and again walked into the bank to close boxes and accounts. In the meantime on June 1st and June 13, my dad's account was charged $235 for annual box rental. The bank refused to give me a refund of those fees even though it was clearly their delays that postponed my being able to close the boxes. Plus they told me there was a 2-year waiting list for that size boxes so you know they have double-dipped on collecting an additional annual fee for those boxes. Sounds like incompetence and VERY poor customer services paid off for BOK. Horrible Bank! No one knows what they are doing and no one appears to want to help.
