This is a smaller campground area that has nice views of the lake. The water was up when we went so there wasn’t any beaches, but we were still able to find places to swim. If you have a kayak, this would be a really great place to put in the water as well. The bathrooms here are not well kept but we’re doable.

Go check this park out plety of deer to see and some coyotes at night .But they are upgrading the park . Looks like new sites for ? trailers and camper's are going in and they are clearing the trails out for you to ride horses and hike . Beautiful ⛱️ area clean swimming place. Shower's are ok on both areas of the park . You all are doing a great job A.C.O.E . And the ranger's are so awesome ! Can't wait to see how it all turns out.??

If you're going here to fish and you take my advice it'll help you tremendously. I'm to old to still be alive and I've fished this section of the river since I was a kid & daddy would let us go horseback and camp overnight with dried out hickory saplings that he made us fishing poles out of. You're going to catch fish maybe up to 4lbs here, mainly channel cat & a few dink blues & yeah rarely some local will land a 20lb fish who's roaming looking for territory but these coves on both side of the park are the primary place that the turtles raise their young for miles & miles around, the catfish know it & just don't hang here much at all, guess it's food reasons, I don't know I'm not a biologist I'm just telling you what I've experienced fish in this section of this river over 50 years. If you go up River to Washington Irving South or further into the lake you'll start finding the big blues and flatheads. I've caught fish at Washington Irving South with mouths big enough to swallow a cantaloupe. There's much more structure and bait fish up around Washington Irving South. I'm too old to fish anymore or I wouldn't tell anybody this information cuz I don't want to fight the crowds. You can go ahead and go to Walnut Creek and when you leave you're going to know I was right, or you can listen and go on up to Washington Irving South and pull out fish you never thought you'd catch in your life. Bring sunfish or perch whatever you want to call them you don't need shad up there and those rocks you can thank me later.

If you like spiders and disassembled bathrooms this is the place for you! On the plus side it's not crowded at all no trash cans anywhere either. Oh and they charge you for this.

The scenery is very beautiful, and the neighbors are friendly, but if camping in tents this may not be the best place. There is one building made for restrooms have both a male and female side, being a female myself I’ve only been in the women’s. The bathroom is to say the least, filthy. The tiles on the floor have stains all over them, the stalls for the bathrooms have feces on the walls, and yellow stains on them. The showers hardly work and only have steaming hot water, the walls are also turning yellow, and the boards on the bottom are coming off and have a mild mildew smell. All things considered though I had a fantastic time apart from my hygiene.
