I've been researching a bunch of Nigerian recipes after having Naija Wife Kitchen (please go if you haven't!!) and ended up here to get some goodies! I don't leave many reviews on grocery stores, but I had to with this place! It looks a little tinier than most grocery stores, but I'll bet you they have everything that you need if you're cooking African food up for the night. I didn't get his name, but he's the son of the owners of the store, and he was super helpful! I told him what dishes I wanted to make, and he even searched up the recipes on Youtube and pointed me to the ingredients I needed. Y'all, I 100% didn't know what half of these ingredients, and he very patiently told me what they were and how it's used! Super helpful and kind. I love learning about other cultures, and I especially love learning about their food. He shared that his family was Ghanaian too, so I guess I'm going to go down the rabbit hole of Ghanaian recipes now!!

The customer service here was amazing! Very upbeat! I didn’t get the lady name but she was very friendly and approachable and inviting! I tried other African markets but I’m going to stick with my lady there at Makola! I purchased black soap and hair oil which was an up sale but I’m ok with that. I love to support small businesses especially Black owned businesses.

They keep seeking expired or almost expired goods. This has been a repeated issue with this store. Check every item you buy. Since I didn't know the product was expired until I opened it and noticed the product was weird, I came back to the store the next day, they neither refunded it, took the item or apologized, even though IT WAS EXPIRED. The guy at the counter simply said my mom won't allow me take back the item, or something to that effect. It's ridiculous. A good amount of their product on display is expired or almost expired. Go to the Asian store or another African store like Mama Zee. Again, this has been a repeated experience, that's alongside also not opening on time according to their time online and posted at the door. Shopping here is never preferred and maybe only emergency.

As a Liberian living in OKC, this is the only shop that has all my West African food. They are friendly and very service oriented.

Storefront says open from 10 am. They are never there at 10 or even 1030 when you go, therefore reliability is so low. Also, they sell a lot of expired goods counting on the fact that you won't check the expiration dates. Please check the expiration date. You deserve something that serves you well if you are paying full price. On the other hand, the young man who mans the storefront is pleasant but they need to change their practices.

I've yet to purchase African groceries here, but love the selection of beautiful fabrics, cosmetics, soaps, and even scents sold here. In the Jade Shopping Plaza -- very easy to find. Friendly employees
