FACTS: Our 20 year old college son needed his oil changed so he goes to jiffy lube at 1025 24th Ave NW, Norman. He paid $160 for an oil change coupled with replacing 2 filters for his car. Brian (sales manager) insists that my son's front brakes are "red/gone" and the back ones were "yellow/near gone". My son calls me at my firm before authorizing new brakes. I tell him I just replaced all the brakes at Firestone in Norman just 5 months prior and that was 6,000 miles ago. I texted my son a picture of the receipt of new brakes to show Brian. I told him to record the next portion of the conversation on his phone. He did. He explained to Brian that the brakes were basically FRICKING NEW. Our son left and immediately went to the Firestone on 36th Ave., Norman where he originally had the NEW brakes put on 5 months ago to have them rechecked. The manager at Firestone checked his brakes installed 5 months prior, they were all "green" (basically perfect condition) and definitely did not need to be replaced.... I called the next day and politely asked to speak to the store mgr. whom name is Randy. I told Randy the experience, and he stated he would discuss the issue/facts with Brian. Missing was Randy's apology of any type. Big mistake Randy. BOTTOM LINE? In my very strong opinion Brian OVERTLY LIED to my 20 year son about needing new brakes and may well have gotten away with it had I not just purchased brakes 5 months prior. Unfortunately I could never believe anyone at that location again and we will never ever be back. Now it is certainly possible that Brian did not actually mean to deceive my son right? Hahaha. Maybe he is just incompetent and needs to be retrained, but can the owner of this location knowingly afford to employ a liar or incompetent employee? I would hate to think this is norm- standard operating procedure/business practice. Hmmmmmm, Hmmmmmmm Irrespective I just wonder how many other customers.........got seriously screwed. Not me or my son. Nice try. Free publicity can be very expensive and the cost of lost revenue can never be calculated. Again in my opinion there was a serious attempt to screw my son's wallet over. I am quick to forgive, UNLESS a business is overtly dishonest -and then I love to give the business free publicity into perpetuity. POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS BEWARE. Use your phone to record conversations there. Suggestions? I'll leave that to the folks that vote with their wallets. Anyone who employs Jiffy Lube should have their head examined. Cheers.
