This site is very cool! There is a small museum interpreting Fort Towson (first syllable rhymes with “cow”) and the wreck of the steamboat Heroine, which occurred nearby as the ship brought supplies to the fort. There is also a trail outside leading to various ruins from the fort, as well as to the reconstructed sutler’s store. The whole experience took about 45 minutes, and was well worth the visit.

Small museum but very well done. Grounds are nice but no reconstructions except a couple small buildings. You are able to walk the Grounds and see ruins of the fort but not like Fort Supply or El Reno.

Great small museum cover the history of the area and the grounds are beautiful. The fort is just ruins. They have reconstructed the sutler store. Definitely worth a stop.

They demand customers to wear mask or have the vaccine. That's stupid.

Fort Towson is one of the most significant and interesting historical sites in the state of Oklahoma. The ruins of various parts of the old fort are interesting and give a sense of the size and scope of operations there.
