We've lived here for 2 years now and just renewed for a 3rd year. We absolutely love the location and scenery. I love feeling like I live away from everything, but really it's only a 5 minute drive away.
The staff has always been very nice. They seem very transparent and tell you everything up front. We applied and it seems like a somewhat stringent process. But I'm ok with that to make sure we get good neighbors (which we have). š
When we moved in, apartments were going fast. We didn't even get to see the apartment before the day we signed the lease. Marisa promised I'd be happy with it, and she was right. Large rooms, decent carpet, big windows, clean place. The common areas (stairwell, small foyer) are kept clean weekly as well as good maintenance of the parking areas and lawns around the buildings.
Our neighbors have always been really nice on the rare occasion we see them. I was worried about noise but there must be good insulation or something because we rarely even hear them.
When we have maintenance requests, they are taken care of pretty quickly and well done. The washer and dryer aren't the greatest, but maintenance has been timely when called. My biggest complaint would be that the dryer seems to be old/weak as I usually have to run it twice to get a dry load (if it's a small load) or more if it's a larger load of clothes. I would love it if they'd get a newer model that just runs until it's dry. I live on the 3rd floor and the trips up and down the steps are a hassle. On the plus side, I love the convenience of a digital pay system for the washer and dryer. So there's that.
The only other comment I have is about the temp of the water. There are cold blasts at times in the shower, but that happens when you own a house too. Not much anyone can do about that.
The employees seem to really want to help out when they can, but do what they can to be considerate of everyone living there, not just 1 person.
This is only my 2nd renting experience, but I'm really very happy here and feel like I got lucky.

Pros:
-Better value than any other apartment in the area. YSU students, you are being scammed living on campus. I pay hundreds less than I did living on campus. And I have way more space and less roommates than I did on campus. You canāt beat the proximity to campus at this price. Save yourself some money and live less than 10 minutes away for a fraction of the cost
-Maintenance requests are responded to in a timely manner.
-Cheapest pet rent in the area! I only pay $10/month for my cat
-responsive and helpful staff
-quiet and courteous neighbors
-parking is close and convenient. You also get a carport
-huge closet in the master bedroom
-huge living room. Like āI actually donāt know what to do with all this spaceā huge
Cons:
-there were some things in my apartment that just werenāt clean upon my move-in. My cabinets felt like they were covered in a layer of grease. Under my range hood was the same way. I got them clean myself no problem, but itās definitely worth noting.
-the hot water situation. I think our building just has one hot water heater, so itās not uncommon to be taking a shower and then get a blast of cold/hot water for 10-15 seconds. It will subside, but itās definitely annoying.
-the washer and dryer need updated. The washer is very small and the dryer will never dry your clothes in one go. Annoying when you have to pay for a second load
-I wish there was more lighting outside. It gets very dark at night
Overall, the pros definitely outweigh the cons and I have loved living here. Youāll have issues at any apartment, so Iām glad I have a staff that is attentive to mine. I just renewed my lease and I am happy to live here another year

We were searching for the perfect place to call home and this place caught my eye , walking into the apartment the cleanliness was outstanding before move-in date. They had the floors professionally cleaned ! And they were so understanding and very kind through the whole process due to the fact, this is my first time getting an apartment, the ladies in the leasing office are amazing people to work with, they got me prioritized to move in and made sure I was comfortable in our new home as wellā¦ walking in on my move-in date they surprised me a housewarming gift. The apartment is very spacious and roomy . Everything is kept up with my favorite part about the apartment is that the main room has a walk-in closet!! Also, they have a Parking bays !! Honestly the whole apartments my favorite part lol !! But Thank you so for making this move as easy and as comfortable as possible !!
I highly recommend these apartments ! ā¤ļø

I have lived here in Monticello apartments for three years and enjoy it very much. Whenever I have a need or request, they are quick to respond and be helpful in every way. It's a nice community with rarely any problems.

I feel I was wrongly discriminated against by Monticello Apartments and Townhomes. This property has terrible customer service. I am originally from Youngstown but have been living out of state for some time. I am currently relocating back to the area. I came across this property and decided to apply. I was told I had an eviction on my rental history in which I was denied. When I asked for clarity I was denied assistance. I provided proof that I was never evicted and I was still told there is nothing that can be done. My first interaction was with the assistant property manager Marissa Macciocca. I made a visit to the office to speak with someone in person. Marissa did not speak or greet me. I still proceeded to plead my case with proof in hand. Marissa rudely said I canāt help you. I asked for the corporate number to escalate my claim. In a short time I received an email stating why I was denied. The report stated I had one month of failure to pay rent from 2021. I provided my previous ledger to show I paid in a timely manner and was still mistreated. I asked to speak with the property manager and was told she was busy and needed an appointment. I asked how to proceed and was told the property manager was busy all day. I saw that her door was open and Marissa rudely said fine go speak to her. She then brushed passed me and yelled for me to sit down. Marissa then shuts the door and begins to talk badly about me to the property manager. PJ who is the property manager stormed out her office and told me
aggressively to leave. I asked why I was being told to leave and PJ threatened to call the authorities. While I was leaving I asked for her last name and she refused to provide the information and shut the door and told me not to come back. I have excellent credit, a salary to support the monthly rent, and great rental history and not understanding why I was treated so poorly. I am happy the true colors of this property were shown so I can aware others that maybe interested. I was once excited to become a tenant and now I am devastated after my interaction. I would hate to believe I was discriminated against because of my race but I do not see any other reason for the misconduct. I would rate them zero stars however in order to post my review they have to be rated.

This has been the easiest process to move. Although there was a bump in the process on my part, Sarah in the office was more than willing to help and find me and my partner an apartment later down the road that fit our needs. We look forward to moving into our new home!

Me and my roommate have been living here for about a week now, and honestly I love it so much here. the worker, Sarah has been an absolute joy to work with and they've been so patient with me since this is my first renting experience, they walked me through a lot of it and if I made some sort of mistake, they went out of their way to call me and actually talk to me about it.
The two bedroom apartments are very large and each wall basically has an outlet! There's only two on a wall, but that's a quick fix if you buy one of the cords with more on them, I've personally not had a problem with it.
The only complaint I can think of having is the roads specifically around our apartments are rough, there is a BIG hole in the entrance to the parking lot-- it's fairly easy for me to get around since I have a smaller car, but I can imagine with a bigger car it may cause some issues.
Rather than that, honestly the apartments themselves are fantastic and the leasing office people are very sweet.

2/13/24 A few of the tenants in our unit have experienced flooding from their first floor toilet and clogging at the end garage. The flooding has happen to me on numerous occasions destroying my hallway carpet. My toilet would just over flow badly without even flushing. Maintenance told me it was due to baby wipes being FLUSHED down the toilet. I called resident mgr and Marisa came to review how damage the carpet had become, because of the floods. After Marisa left my home she call and said I was approved for the repair work and my entire hallway was repaired in less than 48 hours and I am truly pleased beyond measure. This issue has been going on for quite some time I worked with them and they truly stuck by me, and treated my resident as I treat it, my home. I am sure that now all of our neighbors are aware of the problem we all will respect and look out for each other. Thank you in advance to all my neighbors that will stay in compliance with what only can be FLUSHED in our toilet. Thank you maintenance and all office staff for working at the issue to resolve it in the most cost effective manner. I am please and most grateful. I wish I knew how to attach a photo because my hallway is beautiful.

Weāve just recently moved in and everything went smoothly. Sarah from the office was so very helpful and kind. Helped us every step of the way and had excellent communication skills. From answering every question professionally and helpfully to listening to every concern and working with us through it. We thank you Sarah for your care and patience. Clean apartment when we moved in, except a few minor things but all in all an amazing place to look into! With the cheaper end of rent to most utilities included and a very spacious apartment!

As a current resident, I cannot wait to end this lease. There are pros and cons of living here though.Pros- Maintenance does get done in a very timely manner, but as a newer resident all my maintenance needed was due to the previous tenant, so their inspections were not done properly.- Pj, I believe she is one of the on site managers is extremely kind and she addressed my concerns.- The rent is probably the cheapest around the area that is relatively safe. The cons definitely over power the pros though.Cons- Hot water is always an issue, yes I understand when everyone uses the hot water it may not be hot, but in my building if one person is using the hot water, you will not get any hot water at all. You cannot take a shower without getting random cold water, and you would be lucky if you got a steady water temp, because at times it can go the opposite, where the water will randomly burn you. I guess you don't have to pay for the water, but it would be nice to be able to shower in peace.- Packages constantly get stolen from all of the buildings and the staff simply do not care and refuse to put up any sorts of cameras in the buildings, but whats even more sad is the corporate office will not pick up the phone either. They think putting up papers saying the staff will walk around at random times to "patrol" the buildings. What a sorry excuse.- My buildings hallways are never vacuumed or shampooed, and I have been here for over six months. I have seen the same garbage on the floors for the last months. It is disgusting.- They make you sign your apartment damage form before you even look in your unit, and they will try to screw you over on it. When they do your walk through, they will only point out the obvious large issues. You need to MAKE SURE, while they are in the unit to look at EVERYTHING. I am talking about the tiny pin holes in the walls, to every little burn hole in the carpet, because not only will they charge you for ALL of those damages you did not create, but if it is more than your security deposit they'll make you pay them to fix the issues you have always had in your unit. ALWAYS take pictures too with time stamps of the unit. When I moved into my unit the refrigerator was dirty and the leasing lady just looked at me like??? They took my friends deposit and then said she owed them $10 for new paint. They will send ANY amount to collections if not paid within 30 days. You also have to send a check to their corporate office and can't just pay it on site, so make sure you do that. I have not yet moved out, but I just can't wait for them to screw me over on that.- The wall to wall carpet they love to promote is all old and disgusting. When moved in mine had burn marks all over and holes. It is also so deteriorated that every time I vacuum all the dust from the concrete comes up. My one room carpet also is harder than vinyl flooring.- Per your lease you MUST get your carpets shampooed once you move out by a professional, so when you move in make sure they are properly cleaned, because mine were disgusting.- None of the windows in my unit open properly or close properly either, so it's a good thing they pay for heat.- All of the staff besides Pj, have always been passive agressive towards me, and I have never came in there with a poor attuitide, because per their indeed the leasing agents only make $12/hr. So I understand they are working their wage, but even the new employee has been rude to me because I have asked about requests.- You must pay to wash and dry your clothes which is to be expected in most apartment buildings, but my washer and dryer soap compartments look like there is mold in them, and they have never been cleaned at all. It is sicking.
