January 2022 by Morgan Shultz
I scheduled an appointment in January to have my taxes done in March. 1 day before my scheduled appointment I got a call from Jackson Hewitt saying they needed to reschedule for the following day because they did not staff that location the day of my appointment. The day of my appointment I showed up 5min before my 6pm time slot. The appointment ahead of me ran over and I had to wait around for 2hours before the preparer even started my return. He never even acknowledged that I was there until 20min after my appointment was supposed to start. The whole time the preparer was saying he “wasn’t sure if he was doing this right.” It took 2hrs to complete my taxes that consisted of 3 W-2’s. After all was said and done the preparer wasn’t confident in what he completed so he gave me the number of his manager to call and have him review what the preparer completed. I received a call back from the manager the following day and he said he’d have someone review my return and get back to me within a few days. He called back a few days later letting me know they finished reviewing the return (the numbers he provided were different than what the preparer from my original appointment had) and I needed to come in and sign/pay for the return. I wasn’t able to get to the office that day to sign so the manager said he’d call back on Monday (it was Saturday) to schedule a time. It has been 6 days and they still have not called me back. I guess they don’t really want my business that badly if they hire people who don’t know what they’re doing and don’t follow through on their agreements. I went online and did my own taxes with H&R Block in 40min for half the cost. Avoid Jackson Hewitt at all costs if you want to save precious time and money.
