No problems with the gas station itself. the service however. Tara proved to be extremely rude when we were there. while meeting up in the store, she (short, overweight, brown haired lady in her 20s maybe) refused to sell cigarettes to a 50 year old woman. this was not per any laws except one she had made up in her own mind.my mother was already in the gas station, had gotten a fountain drink, so I had come in as well to grab a root beer (we drove separately, came in separately, but since i knew my mother stopped there, i thought i would as well). When we got up to the register, my mother went to buy my drink as well out of courtesy. She had also asked Tara, the cashier, if she could have a pack of cigarettes (she smokes Marlboro light 100s, I'm 20 years old, and do not plan to ever smoke). Tara then tells my mother and tells her that she needs to see her ID and mine as well. So, clearly, I'm confused as to why she needed to see mine. So, we had then told her that if it was because she was paying for my drink as well, we would pay separately. Tara then claimed that she still needs to see my ID, and then straight up refused to sell my mother cigarettes. Her words exactly "because you're with *her*." Super confused, we both asked why that had mattered. Tara then claims that she cant sell us cigarettes because its "second hand." So, I had asked Tara if all speedways did that, refusing to sell cigarettes to a mother because her daughter is with her. She then tried to say yes, although i know that isn't true. I then asked her if it was JUST her who decided to refuse to sell them. She then said yes it was. This whole situation was extremely irritating, and the tone she used with us from the beginning was incredibly disrespectful. We had then asked if she would carry out the same policy for a mother with a five year old daughter. She refused to comment on it and told us she wouldn't argue with us. She was obviously irritated beyond belief for a younger woman working at a gas station where one of the primary selling points is cigarettes. After us trying to get some sort of answer as to why she can't sell my mother cigarettes, my mother asks for her name. In a very very nasty voice, she exclaimed (and i do mean exclaimed, LOUDLY) that her NAME WAS TARA. "Do you want MY MANAGERS NUMBER TOO? Because I don't care, I'm not selling them to you." This was after i had already calmly asked her to calm down for us. After this, she then says "are you gonna *pay for those or what*? (she had meant our two drinks). So my mother had paid for them, and we walked out the store still confused as to why she was so hostile. This entire time, an older male worker was there and said nothing. He just walked away. That entire time, she had treated us poorly. We were nice, but it's like she had flipped a switch completely. Never had we ever had to experience anything like that, and I sell cigarettes where I work too? It would have been fine if she hadn't been so rude to us. It's odd how that speedway lets their workers act out like that.
