I'm deaf and rented a car through Hotwire (they are useless). English was not the first language of Thrify's counter person. He refused or wouldn't take off their insurance upsell. This was during Thanksgiving week. Many, many people were there. I had to give up and get ripped off for their insurance I didn't need. Use Thrifty and you, too, will be ripped off. Shame on Thrifty.

Not open when my plane landed. Stranded at the airport and they had my arrival flight information. What kind of service is this?

Not 1 star, Zero stars...Never rent a car or bicycle from this place, scammed my wife and I out of 500 dollars, paid for everything online before picking the rental up, the night before we leave we stop to get the rental but they tell me I need a credit card with 500 dollars limit before we can leave the lot, and the card has to be in my name. Trying to build credit don't have that kinda limit yet. Try to cancel the rental and because I don't have a credit card it counts as me canceling last minute so everything I paid for online they kept as last minute cancelation fees. Crooked company and rude, Buyer Beware!!!

This review is for the Thrifty Car Rental company customer service line not the airport in specific. Just happened to be where I got the car from. I was over charged on a rental. Mistakes happen!! But the problem is, i called over 10 times, stayed on the phone for at least an hour for the completed rental option And absolutely no one even picked up my call. There is absolutely no customer service for billing issues! Terrible. Non existent service. Horrible!!! Worst lack of customer support I have ever seen!

I will never rent from Hertz/Thrifty again!!! Never!!! Reserved through Priceline, the agent I checked in with was amazingly nice. The car was mediocre at best, no frills at all, not even remote start.. it’s literally -6 degrees outside. I asked for a car with remote start was told none of their vehicles come with it. I returned the car ONE HOUR late and was charged an additional $114!!!! When I spoke to the manager her response was “you get charged for an hour after the first 29 minutes and then charged an additional hour after every 29 minutes…” WHAT?!? How can she tell me they charge an hour every thirty minutes with a straight face?!?!She then CONFIRMS I should have just kept the car another day but she won’t give me back the keys because the contract is already closed, she offers to waive ONE hour, $27, but tells me I’m still going to pay for an entire day for the insurance and airport fees. Terrible terrible terrible!!! Did I mention that we had a winter storm and the side streets are still really bad which is why I was late in the first place?? Rental car was ONE hour late and cost me an extra $85.. $318 for 2 days and 1 hour!!! That’s a WEEKLY rate! Never again.

I will never rent from Thrify ever again!! I rented with them from July 23- July 24 from O'Hara, I missed my flight going back to Dayton so I drove back, I returned the car to Dayton International Airport, however it was after hours. I then get a charge on my card for $185 which I figured was wrong because it was only a few hours late and a different location I figured there would be some sort of fees but to take my deposit plus charge me an additional $185 was excessive. I called and spoke with a really rude gentleman who stated I still had the car. I told him the car was returned a week ago hut he continued to accuse me of having it, he then transferred me to a cell phone. I called back and spoke with a lady who stated she would request the contract be closed out and told me that I would be refunded in which I was. I them get a letter a month later stating that I needed to return the vehicle. I called again and was told that the contract was closed and that I should not receive and further charges. Today I get a charge for over $1500. I called andwas told that the contract was not closed until 9 days later how do u not check your vehicles in?? Im confused. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM THEY ARE A JOKE!! THEY ARE BAD BUSINESS AND I WILL BE SEEKING AN ATTORNEY IF THEY DO NOT REFUND ME MY MONEY!!

The rental process itself was pretty quick and the car itself was nice but when the agent was told my husband didnt have a credit card in his name he stated he would switch it over to me and have my husband as an additional driver that there wouldn't be any cost difference (originally it was just my husband as the driver alone). We also declined any additional insurance due to our personal insurance covered our rental and I had purchased the additional collision information when I booked through Travelocity. I reviewed the receipt this morning and there is a charge for my husband being an additional driver $54.00 plus a charge for DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW/LDW)$135.96. I understand the charge for my husband even though we were told there wasnt an additional charge but not for the insurance. I received this reply 9/9/21 "Dear Madam/SirThank you for contacting Customer Care, we are dedicated to supporting all our customers and will respond with a resolution once we have completed our review.Kind regards Customer Care Team. We are now at June 2022 and no resolution can't even get anyone to speak to me. Will not use again.

I am 21 and I’m well aware that there are differences or restrictions on me renting a car. I made sure to read all the terms and conditions pertaining to me being 21. It is listed both in their website terms and conditions as well as the terms when you are booking a rental that you are to provide a valid US driver’s license and a valid major Credit or debit card. I go to pick up my rental car and they person at the desk informs me that I can use ONLY A CREDIT CARD since I’m under 21. No where when booking a car does it tell you that. My credit card has a lower daily limit that what was required. She told me there was no possibility at all of me using a debit card.

Booked at Thrifty Car Rental in Lot F at O'Hare International Airport. The name of the rude employee is Ambro.TLDR: DO NOT BOOK HERE. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RUDE EMPLOYEES. CLASSIC RENTAL CAR BAIT AND SWITCHAmbro at thrifty was terrible. From the beginning, thrifty had a forty minute line. Ambro tried to force us to upgrade to a more expensive car. The car we were promised was not there at our pick up time, and Ambro gave us a time frame of anywhere between half an hour and two hours for when our car would be ready. Our only other option was to upgrade for an extra hundred bucks. When we asked if the company could provide compensation for an upgrade we didn't want, Ambro became indignant, refusing to rent the car to us after we had already paid and were promised the services of Thrifty. I have never faced such resounding insolence from any employee of any establishment. Terrible customer service and unfulfilled legal obligations seems to be synonymous with the Thrifty name. Planned obsolescence is about as unethical as it gets and Thrifty seems to be an expert. Granted, this only illustrates my side of the story, but I assure you, renting here is more trouble than it's worth with such abysmal service and grey-area legal practices.

Jean was so incredibly helpful and compassionate. 9hrs away from home with a smashed up car. She got us in and out and we shared some laughter too! Need more people like her for sureCar is nice but not the cleanest and Covid is still happening but I’m sure they are short staffed like every other business right now.

When I arrived with a reservation there were two cars left. I got one and the person in line behind me got the last car. I went to get the car and load my bags. The car was in great shape, with one exception. It had a very strong scent of Marijuana. I tried everything to get rid if it. Nothing seemed to work and my clothes ended up smelling. It had the sticker on staying it was cleaned .

Never rent from these people! They will get you out of your money. Trust me! If you don’t us a credit card they hold 200 dollars. Then they charge 10 a gallon for gas you didn’t put back in! The car we got was trash and smelled like weed! The car did not drive smooth at all to be so new! Was barely clean! For them to try to tack on extra is ridiculous! I promise you I’ll never go back to them! They should be shut tf down!
