Considering opening new account(s)? I would like to make the public aware how my accounts were handled at Citizens Bank. In December I opened a checking and savings account under the understanding I would receive $300 for checking with min $500 direct deposit within first 60 days and an additional $300 for savings with $15K new money on deposit until 3/31. Bonus to be paid 4/30. I met all of these requirements actually did 5 direct deposits) and even delayed closing on a property to leave the money on deposit through promo period. Citizens closed my checking account on 4/30 (10 days before payout) due to a zero balance for 35 days rendering me ineligible for BOTH promos. No notice or communication attempt was made for me to deposit funds to avoid closure. I have given customer care and the branch manager opportunity to rectify and reopen the account (the account was hard closed and they say impossible to reopen). I was shown the fine print in the checking disclosure that says Citizens may close your account if a zero balance is maintained for 7 days and then told "Sorry, there is nothing we can do". Citizens has cost me the opportunity of my $15K invested elsewhere for 90 days. Meanwhile they loaned my cash out tenfold and used a technicality to not hold up their end of the deal. In business today customers do not forget when they are treated this way.

This branch is the best! I needed a certified personal check and drove down from Akron. I called on the way because we were going to be cutting it really close. They stayed open a few minutes late to wait for us! Both of the tellers still there were wonderfully friendly and helpful! I wish I lived closer so this could always be my bank!

I was told I was eligible for a gift card promotion if I refinanced with them and then after closing was told I did not finance enough. The rep told me incorrect info and it was not honored. Terrible customer service.

I want to write this review not for this branch for citizens bank mortgage and more specific the lenders! I was selling a home and the buyer used citizens bank and I want to complain and will do so on every possible online site. The lender at citizens bank forced me to purchase a pin survey ($495) and tree trimming ($1295) in order to sell my house. Keep in mind this was after we were in contract so I found another house in the mean time so if I didn't abide by the lenders demands I would have lost my home I was trying to purchase. The trees were not even on my property and in no way hindering the home. I also live in a subdivision where all the lines are mapped out so why did I have to get a pin survey completed? I demand citizens to refund me my money for the unnecessary outside the home and outside my property "fixes". The lender then was over 2 weeks late in closing the home because of the late filling and miscommunication on their part. Not only will I NEVER use citizens bank for anything I will make sure everyone I talk to will not as well. Facebook, Twitter, BBB which I will be reporting on later will all know what citizens bank did. Forced me to pay $1,790 worth of outside things that had nothing to do with the value of my home!
