I had high hopes for my visit but unfortunately, it turned out to be a complete letdown. We arrived at the store at 5 PM, fully expecting to have some time to browse and see some fur babies. To our dismay, as we approached the entrance, we saw a staff member racing to close the door right in front of us!
It's incredibly frustrating when a business advertises hours until 5:30 PM and then shows such a lack of professionalism by trying to shut down early. We felt unwelcome and rushed, and it's clear that customer service is not a priority at this store.
I understand that everyone wants to go home at the end of the day, but if you can't manage your closing time properly, maybe you shouldn't advertise those hours in the first place. There are plenty of other pet shelters that value their customers and provide a much better experience. I won't be returning to this location anytime soon.
Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere that actually cares about their customers!

I went with high hopes of adopting a certain dog after reading about him for about a month and looking at his picture. I finally went to see him. It said nothing but positive things about him. When I got there, the staff told me that he was not good around males that he had some behavioral issues that they were working on. They wouldn't even let me see him. They wouldn't even bring him in the room. I was heartbroken. Then they brought in dogs. That looked nothing like what I was going for acting like I was being out of line because I wasn't interested in those dogs. I went because I had adopted dogs from them. Twice before in my life and it was a wonderful experience. One dog I had 13 years and the other dog. I had only 2 years because it had cancer. I was heartbroken after that experience and I went back this time. With a certain dog in mind and was crushed when they told me. I couldn't even see him. Why then did they have him advertised on? Their webpage, it's such a nice dog.

From fostering our dog to adopting her the humane society of summit county went above and beyond for our family. Not only did the humane society provide quality of life surgery.. but the girls who work there worked with her and loved her so well that she was already familiar with commands. Thank you so much for filling our hearts with our Marlie aka lil bean

I adopted a 2 year old cat named "T.K." here back in 2004. I was 20 years old and living with my girlfriend who eventually became my wife.
That cat passed away today at the age of 22.
He was my best friend and I never would have met him if not for this shelter.
Go find your best friend.

My daughter and I adopted Rowdy from the Summit County Humane Society. He had been thrown from a moving vehicle and had been turned into the APL. Instead of just euthanising him they put a pin in his hip. My daughter, a chiropractor, knew all the therapy, etc he needed. My daughter died this last year and I don't know what I'd do without him.

We have adopted three of our pets from here, so when we wanted to add a second dog to the family, we knew we wanted to look here. We ended up adopting a pit bull puppy but we were never once told by the shelter that certain cities in Ohio ban pit bulls or that the city we had just bought a house in was one of those cities. We did not find out until we were looking for pet care services and one of the potential dog caretakers told us. At that point we had no choice but to take her back to the shelter - something we did not want to do. Nevertheless, when we returned her, we were met with rude stares and standoffish demeanors from the workers. Further, we are entitled to a refund of 50% of our adoption fee, which we planned to put towards our next adoption; however, we have been trying for over a month to get them to refund it. Each time we call, we are given the runaround. Most recently we were told that the check would be cut and mailed the next day, but that hasn't happened. They also said we weren't allowed to pick up the check in person. It is beyond frustrating that we adopted a dog we very much wanted, were never told about the breed bans, and have been treated poorly for having to return her. This experience caused us to look elsewhere, as I do not think we could have a positive experience at this shelter after having gone through this ordeal. I hope that the shelter staff can take some time to consider how they treat potential/actual adopters, as it only stands to disservice the amazing dogs that desperately need homes. And please, please, please let potential adopters know about breed bans at the time of adoption!

Just dropped off $400 of new food, cleaning supplies, treats etc.Only to be greeted with a very sour employee who did not even say thank you. NOT the way you accept gifts or interact with benefactors. Please address your front office staff & educate them for the benefit of all the other hard working staff.Happy New Year.
