We have adopted three of our pets from here, so when we wanted to add a second dog to the family, we knew we wanted to look here. We ended up adopting a pit bull puppy but we were never once told by the shelter that certain cities in Ohio ban pit bulls or that the city we had just bought a house in was one of those cities. We did not find out until we were looking for pet care services and one of the potential dog caretakers told us. At that point we had no choice but to take her back to the shelter - something we did not want to do. Nevertheless, when we returned her, we were met with rude stares and standoffish demeanors from the workers. Further, we are entitled to a refund of 50% of our adoption fee, which we planned to put towards our next adoption; however, we have been trying for over a month to get them to refund it. Each time we call, we are given the runaround. Most recently we were told that the check would be cut and mailed the next day, but that hasn't happened. They also said we weren't allowed to pick up the check in person. It is beyond frustrating that we adopted a dog we very much wanted, were never told about the breed bans, and have been treated poorly for having to return her. This experience caused us to look elsewhere, as I do not think we could have a positive experience at this shelter after having gone through this ordeal. I hope that the shelter staff can take some time to consider how they treat potential/actual adopters, as it only stands to disservice the amazing dogs that desperately need homes. And please, please, please let potential adopters know about breed bans at the time of adoption!

Just dropped off $400 of new food, cleaning supplies, treats etc.Only to be greeted with a very sour employee who did not even say thank you. NOT the way you accept gifts or interact with benefactors. Please address your front office staff & educate them for the benefit of all the other hard working staff.Happy New Year.

Absolutely terrible. Don't contact to save dogs in need, they won't save them. They asked for photos of the animal, I got one and sent it to prove poor conditions living in a dark garage 24/7 and constantly barking. The dog is covered in feces and it's never taken out, no bedding, no water, little food and can see its whole spine. (this is a puppy btw) They told me my picture is trespassing. The owner obviously lied to them and they took their word. While on the phone instead of communicating with me it was hard for them to hear they hung up on me and are refusing to work further with me. I am so appalled by this behavior and will only be dealing with individual rescues from here on out. They are not what their mission claims.

I took an injured stray cat to them today who is clearly limping. They took her back and 5 minutes later brought her back to me said she isn’t limping and they won’t take her. She’s now back on my patio still limping and sadly I’m unable to bring her inside. I don’t think they even took her out of the cat carrier.

I came here in February after going to the APL not being helped to find a forever cat. The staff was great. I came across several cute cats and I eventually narrowed it down to this one particular cat who was named Fedora. His new name is now Mr. Kitty. Cause he runs the house...lol. Well I got him home and we had to learn each other. He would hid alot only let me see him when he wanted to. But this one magical day in April he sat in my lap. This has been my baby ever since. He is now my ESA cat and I love him Thank you.

I got my cat rigatoni from here a year or two ago and he changed my life. I made him a certified legal emotional support pet for my self. He is just such a freaking loving and loyal boy!! The lady there suggested him to me when i was checking out cats, so i took her suggestion and held him well lets just say it was love at first site. It took him about a year to gain his full trust and was well worth it. Hes always been a sweet boy but ever since February of this year his level of affection grew extremely high!! Before he woukd simply lay on me and kneed me. Now he is full blown following me around the house and requesting attention , playing more with me, and occasionally i let him outside now that my new place has a belcony and stuff, well he litterly comes back inside ON HIS OWN i leave the belcony door open and he jumps up and down to get inside again and stuff well he comes inside on his own litterly every 10 minutes!! Just to check on me! Meow for a quick pet and then back outside he goes!! I let him out twice a week for a few hours and put a collar on him so ppl know hes a house cat not a street cat, i DO not allow him outside at nightime since he decided it was okay to bully a baby racoon! Im like oh hell naw boy u got lucky!! So now hes grounded from nightime activities outside but yeah !! Aside from that hes gotten soooo clingy and loving!!! He is so freaking loyal!! He loves me so much now its hard af not to hug him (he allows it occasionally but not often when he dont want my hugs he meows at me when i go to pick him up lmfao but when he dony meow when i grab him he lets me hug him for an entire 10 seconds!!! Its worth the wait lol and he even sleeps next to me in bed now on most nights, he comes when i call him and hes scared of water but he even comes onto the shower ledge on occasion to check up on me inbetween my showers ! Hes sooo freakin sweet. He will sit down and stare at me when i wanna have a full blown conversation with him about random stuff and actually listens to me with eye contact .. im starting to think he enjoys it though.. he hates when i sing to him lmfaoo im a horrible singer his ears twitch and he turns his head like 'this bish' lmfaoo but when i talk he looks at me and listens. He LOVES soft food and treats. Hes got BEAUTIFUL green eyes just like me!!!! I love him so much its crazy! I have four pets and i told my bf if i became a vampire and could only choose one of my pets to live forever id choose Riggy ! Because hes always there for me no matter what! When im upset hes the first to sense it and comes to lay on me and i dont even have to ask!!! Hes so freaking smart! My other kitten unfortunately knew how to open cuborbs and well he recently taught rigatoni to do it but hes smaller so hes not as strong to open the door back up easily by pushing against it like kovu can lol kovu is alot bigger so hes stronger. Rigatoni is so damn perfect im so glad i met him and this place is the reason i did!! They are the best ever!! Adopt from them and get an older pet they need homes!! Babies always go first get an adult cat or dog trust me the level of love is far different because they are so grateful that u saved them and changed there life. I got rigatoni when he was age 3 I believe and hes the best ever!!!

Terrible first impression. Went up for an adoption event today with my daughter and left very disappointed. We arrived and filled out a form then discussed/clarified what my family was looking for in adoptee. Next we were taken to another room closer to the actually kennel area and was left there waiting... with no update from anyone for 40 minutes.Having waited that long already we lost total confidence in this location and decided to leave. I did consider it may be super busy but on our way out none of the 3 people at the desk bothered even to say bye.

All I can say is wow! They were kind, informative, and thorough. I will be supporting and looking here first for any future family members, they made the process enjoyable and efficient! We are so happy to have added Maggie (Rousey) to our for legged family.

Just took my cat to a vet check up for the first time since adopting in October and our new vet was so surprised at everything that this humane society had done before I adopted my baby! She kept repeating "They really took care of everything, he's in great health!" It was so wonderful to have copies of all the work they had done (even copies of dental x-rays!) and made the check up go so smoothly. All we needed to do was schedule his next round of vaccines for July, we were in and out with a half hour!

I volunteer by doing dishes and laundry. It's not glamorous or fun, but the dogs and cats are on the receiving end of nice clean dishes for their food and blankets to snuggle. Definitely worth the time.

I adopted Franklin in 2017 after my husband and our cat passed away. They were very pleasant and helpful. Franklin is happy and the funniest cat I’ve ever owned. Thank you for all you do and should I need any other animals I’ll be there.
