This one is for all the first time moms planning to give birth here- DON’T DO IT. Especially if you plan on breastfeeding your child. This hospital clearly doesn’t respect breastfeeding moms and does everything they can to push formula. The so called “lactation specialist” that’s supposed to come around and help does absolutely nothing and helps with nothing. All she did was ask what I was doing so far and said “yeah that’s good keep doing that” and when I showed her my baby wasn’t latching she just said oh keep trying but couldn’t offer any other solutions. This hospital absolutely RUINED my breastfeeding experience. Went as far as threatening me saying that if the baby doesn’t start eating soon then I’m not going home. Because of the hospital pushing formula my milk supply tanked, I couldn’t pump but one bottle a day for my child. She didn’t even care to eat off me anymore and would only take bottles after the 2nd month. By the 3rd month I had to stop cause it was no point stressing myself to only be able to give her one bottle of breast milk a day. My dr was disgusted when I told her how they treat first time breastfeeding moms in this place. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Please DO NOT have your baby here if you plan to breastfeed!

I only put one star even though you don't deserve any stars. I have a extremely close family member there. At times no came back to ask them about dinner. Dirty dishes left in their room. My relative had their compression boots laying on the floor. One of her cannula on the floor. There was a dirty mask hanging on their IV bag pole. The hospitals bathrooms were dirty. Poor poor service.

If I could give Toledo Hospital ZERO stars, I would. My son called to let me know that his baby was going to be born today, and that he would like me there. This is his first child, my first & probably only grandchild. I get there to be told that I couldn't be there as I was not on the visitor list. My son was told there could only be 2 other people (him & 1 other person) in the room with his fiance. But at the front desk, I was told that it had to be the same 2 people her entire stay in the hospital, and I was not on the list. Now I can understand the only 2 people part of their rule, but for it to be the same 2 people during the entire stay. There was a nurse saying that the rule has been in place for 3 years because of Covid. Now, I have another reason to hate hospitals, and especially Toledo Hospital.

Went to visit relative in ICU...drove from Buffalo...the staff were kind from the valet, the receptionist & the nursing staff. This facility made our 4 1/2 hour trip more tolerable upon arrival.

I was not very happy that I spent the night after I had surgery, then the next day told me that I could go home with blizzard conditions, I wanted to stay any night but was more less told me that it is going to be the same conditions as today. So Husband and I left, We live an hour away going toward Cleveland, We left least to say that 46 car pile up on the Turnpike was about was about 15 miles up from where they was making everyone get off the Turnpike. This was my worst fear, I am just glad we made it home safe. The pic below is what it was like driving home, we maybe 25 on the Turnpike all the way home.

This is a very nice well-kept hospital. They helped guide us where we needed to go and rooms were nice.

Wait time is always long in the ER but I had the absolute sweetest nurse. Abigail in the ER is fantastic <3 and the radiology team was great. I appreciate the work y’all are doing!

On 10/25/22 My elderly mother had fallen at home and injured her knee, I decided to take her to the Toledo Hospital ER on the recommendation of her primary physician. With the help of a neighbor I got her into my car, the hospital is only 5 min. away, when I arrived at the ER (2:00 PM) I went to the first reception desk and asked the woman working the desk for a wheelchair and assistance getting my mother out of the car…she said “ The wheelchairs are over there but I can’t send someone out to help you- we can’t have our people hurting themselves” I didn’t say a thing, I just thought to myself “don’t hospital personnel transfer people all the time?” I pushed the wheelchair out to the car and two nurses did come out to help me get her into the wheelchair and inside. To be fair I have not been in an ER in 15+ years, but my expectations were extremely different from the reality of the visit. We had to sit in the primary waiting room for 2 hours, my mother than was moved to the ER area and was placed on a stretcher in the hall around 4 PM, around 4:30 PM a young lady asked if the nurse practitioner had seen my mom yet to which we answered no, about 20 minutes later the nurse practitioner came to the back hall where they placed my mother spoke to her and sent her for x-rays, we remained in the hall till about 6:30 PM, my mother was moved to a ER room at this time. The same nurse practitioner came to the ER room and informed my mother that they didn’t see anything in the x-rays and after 5 hrs. of being in the ER the discharge orders were to take Tylenol and follow up with an orthopedic doctor. The entire time we were there I assumed that we would be seeing a orthopedic doctor. Maybe my expectations are way off but this was a lot to put my 80-year-old mother through, just to be told to take some Tylenol and go home after 5 hrs. When I asked for some help to get her in the car when we are leaving they told me it may take a while because of shift change. The nurse that was coming on duty was very nice and did go out with us to help get my mom into the car. (We finally left around 7:30 PM) Outside of the very first person we encountered when we arrived at the ER everybody was very nice and courteous to my mother but the overall experience was extremely hard to go through. *Note: I did call the hospital and left a message with the ER manager about the woman that was rude to me when I arrived and as of 10/27 I’ve had no call back.

The staff from the pediatric ER as well as the Children’s hospital is very efficient and well rounded. Only encountered one ER doctor who was very rude and had no bedside manner. However the rest of the folks were good natured and professional. It’s very enlightening to know your child is well cared for and seen as a human not just a number. Only a few downsides to the facility is1. Not a lot of great parking choices. (However it appears they are fixing one of the garages)2. Not very convenient Dinning choices for off hours.3. Their vending machines and food options are all diet and sugar free. I understand they are a medical facility however folks should be able to choose their own dietary needs not have it chosen for them. All in all a very clean and caring facility.

Like every reasonably healthy adult, I thought I was bulletproof. Until, I busted the proverbial “gut” and wound up taking the ambulance ride to Toledo Hospital. Yep, gastric hemorrhaging woke me up. So, I got to see the ER closeup and personal, then on to the intensive care unit of gastroenterology and a wonderful twelfth floor view of the park. After two blood transfusions, one in ER and one in intensive care, come the morning, I was ready to go. Back to my old insubordinate, obstinate, self again; I proceeded to argue my case for release to the doctors that came to check my condition and explain the situation. Well, these guys and gals must have been paying attention in med school. After using enough medical acumen to convince me of how close I had come to death, I relented. Unfortunately, my situation had occurred on a Friday, so, after three nights of enduring a tiny bed and trying to sleep with leads to monitors all over my chest; I had the procedure performed to repair the damage. Cut to chase, the nurses charged with my care in every department, were kind, compassionate, and skillful. I cannot thank them enough. The hospital as a facility is as good as a hospital can be. The breakfast, after three days of no solid food was disappointing, but that would be my only complaint. I would utilize this facility again, if I had to. I hope not, but I wouldn’t hesitate.

I wish I can give zero to this hospital. I just gave birth there. Postpartum care ( after labor) is horrible simply you have to speak up to get the minimum expected. My baby lost 10% of his weight first day in the nursery. I had to ask for all my medication even stool softener. They simply do their stupid checklist and prefer to kick you out of the hospital ASAP. I was sent home in less than 30 hrs. They ignored my leg swelling, my baby weight loss, and my back pain. They simply don’t want me there. I don’t mind paying more money but to receive good treatment, especially during this critical time.

This is a review for the billing practices of Promedica. It is not a review for the medical service. The medical service was good and friendly. (I had a nightmares medical experience when I was hospitalized at a different ProMedica facility another time, but that's another story.) For this particular visit, Iwas in and out faster than I thought was possible for a last minute urgent procedure.ProMedica's billing practices are extremely unethical, should be illegal, and quite likely are in fact illegal. I went in to the hospital for an urgent ultrasound scan on the advice of my doctor. (Fortunately, everything was okay, health-wise. But I had a scare due to a history of blood clots and a cramp.) Prior to going in for the scan, I went through the billing desk. There was a sign on the desk requesting for me to pay prior to service. I asked the billing person for the amount that would be owed. I further asked her if there would be any additional charges of any type. She said, no, there will be no additional charges of any sort unless they discover that I need additional services based on the results of my scan.I paid my bill in full at the hospital, prior to receiving service.A while later, a bill arrived in the mail, claiming that I owed an additional $60. I called ProMedica and explained that no, I had a verbal agreement with them and the amount was paid in full. After spending an hour or so of my time on the phone on multiple phone calls, I finally got through to a supervisor who reviewed the case, called me back, and agreed to waive about half of the charge "because it was different from the estimate." I explained that NO that was not an ESTIMATE, it was a VERBAL AGREEMENT. At no time did the billing person use the term estimate or say anything to indicate that this was anything other than a verbal agreement. Furthermore, the bill that I received was misleading. It indicated a due date of about 30 days. But the supervisor explained to me that I would receive a bill every month until I paid, and it would not be considered delinquent until the due date of the 4th bill. So you should just put that due date on the first bill. That is the actual due date. Don't pressure people into paying right away when they might want to rightfully protest the charge. In the end, after also losing a dispute with my insurance company, I paid the $30. That amount of money doesn't really matter much to me, especially not out of my tax advantaged HSA. It wasn't worth my time and energy to take ProMedica to small claims court. But what matters is the lack of fairness. ProMedica are crooks. (The leadership, not the lower-level employees). They are stealing money from honest people. For me, this time, it was no big deal. For somebody less wealthy, and especially with a larger bill and no insurance, it could be the choice between paying a scam medical "bill" and affording to eat or pay their rent.Thinking about the state of our healthcare system makes me feel sick.Shame on you, ProMedica! This is not a reasonable way for any company to act, and especially not a nonprofit. But also, it's a symptom of a larger problem. Shame on the US government and the government of Ohio for allowing this.

Absolutely horrible hospital. My grandmother was here in surgery ICU and they completely failed her and caused her death. Lack of communication, too many hands in the pot and nobody knows what's going on, no follow-through, and disregarding standard procedures. It took us almost 6 months to get an answer to a question on what antibiotic she was on and when it was started. They let her die. Don't ever bring your family members here, and if they do have to or you stay by their side the entire time. I watched one nurse mocking my four grandmother who had a breathing mask on her face because she couldn't understand what she was saying. It took everything in me to not take her out.
