Checkmate has just about everything you could ask for in a hobby shop. Its fully stocked with TCG and table top goods without being cramped. The furniture fixtures like wooden shelves help make a cozy atmosphere. Employees were welcoming, knowledgeable, and ready to engage in a conversation about what we were looking for. They have a spacious area for free play and organize local events that feel encouraging to join. Checkmate is about an hour drive for us but we'll gladly make it again soon.

Very impressed with the selection and online single card order process. I place my order for about 6 cards and within the hour I was called and told I could pick said order up. I picked up a booster pack while there and the employee blessed the pack for opening luck haha. Great customer service and by far the best online order process especially compared to other stores around here.

I was thoroughly impressed with the experience. As soon as I walked in, Nate, the man behind the counter, was extremely helpful and caring. I mentioned that I was interested in getting into Pokémon, and within seconds, he offered to play a quick game with me to teach me the basics. Nate spent a good 20 minutes explaining and guiding me through the game, demonstrating different play methods and helping me pick out the best card sets to start with. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience enjoyable and educational.
The store itself was well-stocked and organized, which made browsing easy and pleasant. I’ve already played two games since my visit and am looking forward to going back. Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend Checkmate for anyone interested in games!

A great place to go to buy and play games! I found this shop when i was looking for a place to play an old game i had loved in my childhood, called Heroclix. I was extremely happy that I had a place to go to nearby, and I still am to this day. Everyone that works there is always helpful, friendly and welcoming, especially the owner! I have, and will continue to, recommend Checkmate to people I know.

Checkmate has been a constant in my life every Monday night for the past couple years. I started going in order to play heroclix with some friends. Over the years it developed into a safe space where I could escape my troubles once a week to spend much needed quality time with some old friends while also making new ones. It helped me get through some of the hardest parts of my life. I’ll always be grateful for the times I get to spend at Checkmate. ??

Terrible customer service. DO NOT COME HERE FOR HEROCLIX! Turned away four players that were officially signed up for an event and turned them away, having them drive four hours back home. Suppliers, revoke their access to WizKids for violating conduct.

Lousy customer service. Only concerned about themselves. Signed up for an official event they had posted per regulations. Only to drive 2 hours for the event to be told that I couldn't play because I didn't call the store and prepay. Even though there was nothing posted on the event site. Or there website about having to do either.

Worst game store ever. Drove 3 hours to compete in tournament that I was officially signed up for just to be turned away with zero remorse. Also they all suck at Chess.

Great place, it was full of very friendly staff and even friendly customers as they host game night's and such, and they were packed. I even met the owner, who was a very friendly and down-to-earth 10/10 will be going back
