My wife and I took the beginner knife making class. If you get the chance I highly recommend you give this a try. Tim, Justin and Jordan are patient and passionate and go above and beyond to help create a beautiful knife. Being "City Billies" We weren't sure if we would fit in but from the moment we walked in the door we felt welcome and everyone in the class were made to feel that they belonged. My wife and I got to work together and hammer on each other's steel. Also in our class got to watch a father hammer on steel with his teenage son. Amazing experience that I believe anyone would enjoy. Left with some amazing knives and maybe even most impressive New Friends. You Gentlemen have found your calling in teaching and are most appreciated.

My goal was to look for a 5th wedding anniversary gift for my husband. Since I know he loves the outdoors, I thought a knife with a wood handle would be perfect. So he and I set out to look for the perfect knife for him. We set out to Amish Country and visited a few stores and shops looking for something handmade not commercially made. After some suggestions from local Amish stores they recommended Sugarcreek Forge. We took a ride over there and found out it was not actually a store it was a forge manufacturing facility. Tim Troyer makes custom knives by order. Unfortunately at that moment he was unable to get us a knife with a wood handle (signifying 5th anniversary) but he did suggest knives made in Uganda that he founded to help people. He told us that about 60 percent of the population 30 and under are unemployed. Tim started Bamba Forge and traveled to teach them the trade of knife making. We decided to go with Uganda knife, he even made a sheath for it. That purchase was by donation. He sends the donation back to Africa. Thanks to their new found skills six families are being supported. We wanted something made by the owner therefore we purchase the second knife as well.Tim is passionate at what he does and you can see that he is people person. He has a strong faith and genuine regard and heart to help people. He took time from his very busy schedule to make us feel comfortable. He spoke about 101 type introduction to knife classes that he can do. It would be a minimum of 5 people per class. He made the 5th wedding anniversary gift a very special one. To make it even more special he was working on a cross, in our discussions found out I liked baby blue colors and gifted me the beautiful cross pictured.

Sugarcreek forge isn't quite up and running yet but I gave them a call and asked if we could stop by. My son collects knives and is trying to make his own knives so he was very excited to get a look at some of the tools used in a forge. Tim and and Jesse
