I couldn’t be happier with the restoration job BENHASE did on my 1959 MGA. Nick was open and honest about what should be done. Aaron did a great job on the paint and Rick was very thorough on the mechanicals. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a first class restoration.

I have mixed feelings about the project they did for me, which was a 1967 Mustang GT Fastback restomod - from obtaining a donor car for me to (sortof) finished car. I'm from the Cincy area but live in the Kansas City area now, so this was a long distance project.
Positive: They (sortof) delivered my dream car. The paint job is exquisite. Their paint guy, Aaron, is a true master. Their main Mustang mechanic, Michael, knows Mustangs and does excellent work without wasting a minute of billed hours. I visited the car and shop last year to check on progress and he was shoulder deep in my car's engine bay. Others might have stopped work to bask in praises, but he left that to the owner's son and Mitch. I'd give Mitch's title but I don't know it. All I know is that he was my main point of contact and always made me feel he was looking out for my interests. After countless hours on the phone and a few visits in person, I consider him a friend and he has an open invitation to spend a day or two here in KC on his way to visit his son in Texas.
Negative: 29 months from the time they received the donor car until completion. Part of that is due to COVID and staff shortages, but there were months when my car sat in the back room with a car cover. Then there's cost. I signed a contract that I knew was basically a time and materials job, so I have no legal complaints. But the final cost was $55k over the top end of the initial range estimate and would have been more if I hadn't negotiated a cap because they did unauthorized work. Even the cap was non-binding, since when the work exceeded the cap I was told (by the owner's son) that I had to pay an extra $20k before the owner would order remaining parts and unfreeze work on the car. We negotiated that down to $10k but it was clear that my car would not be finished without more dollars. Rock, meet hard place. And when the car was shipped out to Kansas, I found several things that cause the 'sortof's above. The trunk was bare (you could see the gas tank) and it cost me $1500 to get it finished. I had been told the sound system would include JL Audio speakers and subwoofers. The car as delivered had $59 (on Amazon) Pioneer rear speakers and holes where 10' subs would have been installed and without any amp to power them. $3600 later, I had the sound system I expected - but which was not contractually obligated. I also spent $700 to get a transmission leak fixed because a seal was missing between the shifter and the transmission. A part of the floor pan was missing undercoating which, in my opinion, should have been caught in final inspection before shipping the car. Bottom line, I recommend carefully crafting a contract instead of signing their boiler plate - perhaps with the assistance of an attorney. Note that none of my above complaints/criticisms rise to the level of suggesting they violated the contract I signed. This shop can do excellent work, but I recommend making sure any contract protects your interests (as well as theirs) and include constraints on both cost and delivery time.

It was a nightmare!!!! I took my car to them in May of 2022. I'm embarrassed to say, I paid them over 45k to do work. I finally got my car back on August 30th 2023. Throughout that year and 4 months, i received my car on two different occasions with multiple issues that caused me to take it back to them. If i knew how to post pictures and video to show the end result I would. I am still having issues with my car after all the money and time. I refuse to go back. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE??Services: Transmission

I dropped my car off to Benhase Restorations. After a sit down with the owner, do to certain issues with my car. The Owner and his Son, really do understand customer service. The guys at Benhase, settled all my issues and continue to provide a open line of communication during the process of Completing my Dads 1960 T-Bird. I recommend Benhase, to any future Customers.

READ BEFORE CONTACTING BENHASE!! Contacted Benhase about some work on a project. The salesperson, Mitch was a no-call, no-show for two appointments. This, after telling me on the phone what a “fun project this sounds like.” I called the office after being stood up the second time, and was told I would be contacted by Rick, the owner. I never received that call. The next contact from the company came in the form of a text from Mitch telling me that someone was supposed to contact me and cancel our appointment. He added that they aren’t taking any more new business. I feel like my little $10,000 project was just too small for them and they didn’t want to waste their time with it. So be it. I don’t beg anyone to take my money.

Horrible communication. You get an estimate from Benhase and assume you will pay more at the end of the day up to 100% over estimate. They hide behind the "time and materials shop" quote. It doesn't matter if their guy is sick and spending their time in the bathroom, you get billed the time they are (suppose) to be on your car. My restoration was agreed upon I would be part of process and yet things were not communicated to me and according to them it was my fault. I was quoted "apprentice hours and was billed for full rate. When asked to speak to someone it took 3 months to actually speak to anyone and I had to demand to speak to owner. All the while waiting to speak to someone, I was harassed to make a payment. When I was given the opportunity to present my issues to the owner, he gave me a minimal discount, but not what was presented in my estimate contract. I was promised a cache of photos of the restoration of my vehicle. I was promised access to photos on a weekly basis of what the vehicle looked like before they started and what was actually done. I received none of that. One of the reasons I chose here was to document the work being done. I had 5 project managers due to retirement and COVID, but not once did any of the replacements ask for a meeting to discuss what my restoration was to be. Not one replacement manager asked to understand what was on the estimate and what my expectations were for the estimate. I had to move right at the conclusion of the restoration of which, I wanted it to be done so I could stop the hemorrhaging of money. Arranging transport and receiving my vehicle in FL. To date, it doesn't start without giving it gas which it should not because it has a new fuel injection system. It overheats, which begs to question if the new electric fan was installed properly since it doesn't turn on. They replaced the glove box insert with a new one, but the light isn't seen because they didn't bother to knock out the hole or even bother to check to see what was stock. I don't even know where the parts came from or if they were made as replacements for my vehicle. Bottom line, they are over priced, they do not know every make so be sure to ask specifically for references to your make and model. Do not trust and go as far away as possible from these people if it is a Pontiac you want restored. Be sure if you get references, to ask specific questions like "How much different was out of pocket than estimate?" Just don't go here. When I was nearing completion, they were talking about asking for more than 25% down to start. Don't walk away-run. Go anywhere else.

Place is a joke! After calling and being told that an estimate would be done in 2 weeks we brought our car in and paid a deposit to "put is in line" Our car sat there for over 2 months and we never heard a word form anyone. I called to find out what was going on and was constantly told how busy they were, how they are short staffed and he (Steve) will get to it when he can. If it take over 2 months to get an estimate then how dear god, I can only imagine how long it would take to get the work done. When we finally do get our estimate they over estimate by listing things that din't even need to me done! It really came across as if they didn't know what the heck they are talking about. After all this we tell them we want to pick up the car. Oh sure they say, just call and schedule a time with the desk. Well we call the desk and she says just stop by during opening hours. Haha, that was a joke. We stopped in 3 times, and each time we were told the car wasn't accessible. (blocked in by other cars). The kicker is they charged us for a 5 hour evaluation! Really?! One that we had to call about to even have done. Also, it was never mentioned that our deposit was to pay for said evaluation. This place is so unorganized. We should have known when we dropped the car off that it was going to be trouble. They acted like there weren't even expecting us the day we dropped it of even though we had called and set this time up! They wasted 4 months of our time and caused a lot of hassle and headache and still had enough nerve to charge us. DO NOT TAKE YOU VEHICLE TO THIS PLACE!

We took our 1930 packard there that was not running and they performed what they said they were going to do at the price they said it would be. We left the car there with them with the hopes to get it back in a few weeks, after about 5 weeks I called and explained to them that we were going to have a family photo and would really like to get the car back, they obliged and got it completed and we were able to get the photo of the family with the beloved car. Kudos to them for getting it ready for us. I would recommend them, there wait times are probably to be expected with the amount of business they recieve. Can’t wait to get them our other packard for some major repairs that need done. I Have no doubt they can do it.
