Antitrust Violation?
My wife and I went to Microcenter to purchase a keyboard and a scanner for our Tax Firm. When my wife and I were walking away with the scanner in our cart, the sales rep seemed unusually nervous about whether all the appropriate cables were included, despite the scanner being presumably brand new. We found this behavior odd but didn't think much of it at the time.
Upon bringing the scanner home to use for our project, I noticed subtle hints that it may have been used. Someone had clearly taken great care to make it appear new, whether it was Microcenter or a previous customer who returned it deceptively. Despite the careful disguise, the scanner did not work, confirming my suspicion that it was indeed used.
After extensive research, I discovered evidence suggesting Microcenter has possibly engaged in this behavior for at least seven years. Other customers have reported similar experiences of receiving refurbished items sold as new. This is deeply troubling and raises serious concerns about their business practices.
When I called the store manager to address the issue, he looked up the scanner's serial number and confirmed that it had been purchased on 05/14/2024 and returned on 05/18/2024. How did it end up back on the shelf? This was a clear failure on Microcenter's part. If the information was accessible in their system, there is no excuse for selling it as new.
After all this, they offered a discount on the product or an alternative. This response was inadequate, as it failed to address the root of the problem: selling a used item as new. This experience has shaken my trust in Microcenter. If they can easily verify a product's history, such issues should never occur.
Microcenter needs to take immediate steps to ensure that this does not happen to other customers. Selling used items as new is deceptive and unacceptable. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make the necessary changes to restore consumer trust.

What a great first time experience for me at Microcenter! It's my first time looking to get a Gaming PC and the store seemed overwhelming, but wow the technicians made it so comfortable. A big Thank You to Spencer for helping me end up with a quality custom PC and Thank You to Matthew for helping me with Keyboard options and mice. The staff were all amazing, even the cashiers. I will definitely be back for any needs and wish I could return their generosity.

This is the place for all your IT needs! If you are a geek like me, you can spend hours in here...like a Costco for nerds!

Good selection usually, but employee service very hit-or-miss. Some sales reps are very pushy and will tell you anything to make a sale. This week, I placed an online order and came in only once I got confirmation that my order was ready for pickup, but they told me at the service desk that they didn't have the item. They said someone accidentally marked it was ready for pickup to "close it out." So I drove all the way there for no merchandise, and they said that sometimes when there is only one item in stock on the site they may not have it. Isn't that the whole point of the email to confirm that the item is physically there for pickup? Very frustrating.

Currently giving a 2 star rating. I spent plenty with them (an entire pc setup) by the piece, had them build it for an additional $200, just to bring it home and it struggle to power on and won't connect to internet whatsoever.

Nasty rude people at their repair shop. I took my stuff elsewhere. The shop side is fine.

Super friendly staff that made the mistake of talking to me about star wars. I LOVE coming here despite the 45 minute drive.

Micro Center is my local go-to shop to buy electronic equipment. There are always knowledgeable employees available who can help me make a selection if needed. They have a great selection of products, competitive prices, and a clean store.

Always a pleasure to go to Micro Center. Just wish the sales associates weren’t like sharks watching and waiting for commission sales. Sometimes I just wanna browse without being interrupted 3 times…. But overall still always a good experience

It's great how this place is making car dealers look good when it comes to their sales practice. I decided I wanted to buy a computer but wanted to think and look around. Once I finally decided to buy it, if someone had already helped you, no other associates were willing to help you because, well, someone else already called dibs. I'm seriously debating on just returning the computer because I really don't want to come back here anymore because it all about making sure an associate puts a stupid sticker on every item whether they helped you or not.

Very knowledgable and no pressure. Staff was extremely helpful explaining capabilities of different equipment and how to use it to set up a three computer connection.

Every time I come here, I’m reminded why I love this place, today I came in to get some headphones (microcenter price matching) and Matthew went WAY above and beyond helping me out, he made sure the price match was legit, got it signed off, and helped me locate them (there was one pair hidden way back in their storage room). So thank you Matthew, great customer service!

Was desperate for a laptop charger since I had misplaced mine and needed my laptop for work. Tim F. Was able to track one down for me by my model number in a timely fashion. The cashier was friendly as well. I didn't get their name though. Be able to grab a Ghost energy drink while I was panicking really helped too

I just walked out of this micro center location and the cashier was extremely rude. When I asked for an SD card he brushed me off for a different customer ahead of me with the shopping cart.
I wouldn't even bother wasting my time with these cheap knockoffs, he says to me pointing to the SD cards by his register. I wouldn't put on my $1000 iphone ( I'm guessing it was the cheapest phone there). If you have any more questions go to aisle 3 he says. I looked over and there were nothing but printers there. Service so terrible I walked out with nothing and I'll never go back!
