I shop this store multiple times a week. Most of the employees are friendly and talkative, however....there are two employees that are just downright miserable and arrogant. They NEVER greet me when I go up to pay and NEVER say thank you when transaction is done. In fact, there's been multiple times with both these employees that not a single word has been exchanged between us during the checkout process because I match people's energy that they give these days. What kind of business doesn't teach their employees to treat the customer with respect? Manager needs to step in and have a talk with employees on how to act towards their customers.

Had a second bad experience at this store today. The first incident I had was about 8 months ago I went in and was browsing saw two matching vintage jars with lids they were marked at 2.50 per jar. I took them up to check out along with other items and the cashier kept looking at the jars saying they had to be marked wrong I was confused because they were clearly marked at 2.50. Cashier called the manager up and they talked amongst themselves and pulled the jars up looking at resale value online (not acknowledging I’m standing there as there discussing price) they said they would sell them to me at marked price but “I shouldn’t expect that price next time” like ok??? I literally walked into your store saw something I liked that were marked with a price tag and purchased them kinda like how every store works. Then today I go into store because a week before to the day I had went in browsing and saw a vintage trinket shelf that I liked that needed some TLC but I ended up not getting it because it needed a new paint job and some work done on it. I went in today looked and saw it was still there and said ok I will get it since it hadn’t sold. I go up to register and within 30 seconds the girl at register said we can’t sell this to you because SOMEONE must have switched the price tag because we wouldn’t have sold this item for the amount it’s currently marked at, it was almost like they were accusing me of switching the tag??? I know the economy is bad but not bad enough that I’m going to try to screw goodwill out of less than 5 dollars for a beat up shelf that needs work. Honestly was shocked and kinda mad like who are you trying to say switched the tags?. I left and thought about it and called to talk to a manager because this is the second time at this store this has happened to me. I called and it sounded like the same cashier I just had. I asked for a manager and the girl explained that store policy was if they thought the tag had been switched that they had to take the item off the floor re price it and put it back on the floor. She explained she thought that the item was priced wrong and it should cost more and she said once again that “someone” switched the price tag. Honestly was mad. Goodwill you get donations from the community and other than labor and cost of running store you get everything for FREE. I’ve never had any issues at any other goodwill before but in less than a year have had two bad experiences here. This is the goodwill I always donate to and always buy from for years even when it was at the old building. I will no longer donate to this store or will purchase from this store again NO ONE wants to go to a store and be kinda accused of being a thief. And maybe people just want to go into a store see a item they like and not have to fight with cashier about the price even though it’s clearly marked with the stores price tag.

They couldn't provide me with a bag for my purchase. What store doesn't have a bag for items that they sell?

Prices are unbelievably high!! I mean, they get items for free, for crying out loud, and price items known to come from the dollar store for twice as much...ridiculous!! Additionally, they do not offer color sales on the weekends, which ofc is when most people can shop. Even the clothing, which is in abundance, is priced higher than most stores will sell new items, especially if on sale or clearance. Sigh. They ask you to round up at the register and do not even bag or box your items; I mean come on already!

One of the best goodwills I've ever been to!! Staff was super friendly and helped me with all my questions and even helped me look in a box that was taped to make sure everything was there. Very clean location and everything was well organized.
I'd come back here, and recommending everyone to shop Salem Goodwill

I’d rate 0 stars if I could. First off, people that work there need to realize that it’s the Community that donates their stuff, for them to sell in their store, and make money. The Community supplies them with the means to have a job and earn an income. The dock worker, unsure his name, but he’s an ignorant person who doesn’t need to be working with the Public. He has such a bad attitude towards people that drop off. This has happened more than once, being once too many. I spotted an end table for my small fish tank on the dock that I was interested in. My Wife wanted to go in and browse anyways. Once inside, I asked the Cashier about the stand. She couldn’t answer me, but recommended that I ask the Manager, which I guess two of was working the floor. One walks over and I ask her about it. She wasn’t very nice either, acted snooty and like I interrupted her coffee break, again, she was right by the Cashier area. We didn’t purchase anything, and walked out. If I’ll be treated that way, I’ll drop my stuff off at the Way Station in Columbiana or another Goodwill location. People will eventually stop shopping there, so they can close the building for all I care. Nasty people

The ladies at Goodwill Salem always leave the store looking great and organized! Pricing is not as high as other stores locally which makes for some good treasures to be found!

Underrated location. Always good finds. As clean as most. Items have small labels and no covering barcodes.
