My husband and I just left after touring. We were expecting it to be interesting but Sarah the tour guide made it spectacular. She is very knowledgeable, personable and made the experience super cool!! Highly recommend. If we could give more stars we would. ?

I was here in 2019 with one grandson now 13 and came back last Thursday with his 8 year old brother. We missed the 2pm tour by 5 minutes so just walked around and 13 year explained to 8 year old the historic importance to 8 year old and even remembered the secret on the porch. Grandson disappointed I could not buy them kids tee shirts. They both enjoyed the steps and the views of the river. We had started the day in walnut hills at the Harnett beaches stove house.

A fascinating introduction to the history of the Underground Railroad and Ripley, Ohio's part in it. Howard, the tour guide, is a great story teller and is alone worth the cost. Combined with a spec-TAC-ular view of the Ohio River, you've got a great visit waiting for you.Do beware of the drive leading up to the house. It's a one lane road with a couple of sharp turns.Otherwise... ?

Experience a part of history first hand along the banks of the Ohio River in historic Ripley Ohio. View the river for miles from the Rankin house and take a tour inside.

This is my 2nd visit to Rankin House. My first was nearly 20 years ago and the improvements they've made are astounding. They have brought the house back closer to its original look. They've also added a visitor center and parking lot which we're not there 20 years ago. It's an incredible part of history and a testament to mankind's quest for freedom and two brotherly love.

The tour guide is passionate about the local history, brilliant and well-spoken. He bought the Rankin family history to vivid life. The house and grounds are lovingly well preserved, the gift shop has a nice selection of books and other gifts... This wasn't just a museum visit for me. It was a pilgrimage and I was not disappointed. On the contrary, the beauty of the passion I found there confirmed mine own and I am forever grateful.

We had a great time. Learned about the story and history of Ripley, OH. The Rankin family and others whom helped the community and slaves to escape to their freedom. Also got to tour their house with the tour guide who was awesome! He was very friendly, knowledgeable and made our experience a great time! It's well worth the $6 per person fee.

If you live in Ohio this is a must. Even for people that aren't history buffs. Everyone should learn about the people that lived here and how they lived in danger everyday helping runaway slaves. The guy that does the tours is absolutely a great story teller and very knowledgeable in every area pertaining to this place.

Just standing there in visioning the people escaping slavery, who crossed the river on the trail to freedom is humbling.
