A must see whenever we visit Put-in-Bay. We went rather late in the year this year in October, so the warmth inside the Butterfly House was very welcomed! It's very relaxing to walk and try to identify each species from the handout they give you. A great way to get very up close for photography. I can imagine with children, you'd need to really watch and make sure they don't touch the butterflies though, so if bringing your children make sure you supervise them. There is a staff member inside, but as with most anything, the signs explain the rules. Worth the admission (sorry I don't remember what we paid each, but maybe $10?), and you can return throughout the same day if you want. Just an overall relaxing and magical experience.

It was an amazing experience. I absolutely loved it, and I can't wait to go back again. The ladies who ran the shop and the butterfly house were so sweet. Seriously, it was a wonderful experience. The only thing I want to say that may be possibly negative is, if you are heat sensitive, I would suggest going in the afternoon, rather then the morning, because they tend to water the plants in the morning and it is like a steam room in there. It's definitely more enjoyable in the afternoon due to the heat, but regardless, I loved it both times....just probably lost a couple pounds the first time. Lol.

OH MY ... was I so excited to go into the butterfly house. Not so much my husband, but to see all the butterflies flying around and flying so close to you. I even had one land on my head it scared me a little. I think my husband enjoyed it but if you asked him he would lie and say it was OK. I waited for awhile and went around the building to get that blue butterfly forever it seemed. God's beauty is everywhere if you look for it.

I would recommend a visit if you are on the island. The employees were very helpful and sincere. The butterflies were beautiful. The knickknacks are very nice e too.

Was a great experience I will always treasure with my Mom! So many butterflies everywhere! Just landing on you, and it's magical! We had a great time! My only complaint would be the amount of people they let in at once, and lack of supervision when people are trying to catch the butterflies.

Tons of butterflies which make this a fun stop. However the workers are so rude. Constantly yelling at both kids and adults. You can tell they aren't professionals and don't truly know anything about butterflies but that it is just an attraction to make them money.

So many butterflies! This was an option on our Perry's cave pass so we decided to give it a try. I have been in butterfly houses before but this one was definitely one of the best. You walk through the gift shop and the entrance to the butterfly house is in the back. It is a large greenhouse so on the day we went it was 95 degrees inside the building. About 5 to 10 degrees hotter than outside. Because of this we were only able to stay inside for 10 or 15 minutes because it was very hot. Upon entering there is a window that shows the butterfly hatching area. After that a greeter will fill you in on the rules of the butterfly house. After that you are welcome to walk around and explore the garden area. They have lots of plants to cater to butterflies and several water features. If you stand still the butterflies will land on you. Several benches are available to sit and enjoy the area. They also give you a great poster to identify the butterflies in the building. Not all of them are on the list but the greeter was very helpful and provided names for those we did not know. Great experience for any animal or nature lover!

It's a butterfly sanctuary with a small path attached to an equally large gift shop. 600 or so butterflies that could be enjoyed for about $10 per person average. Careful where you walk, don't step on any.Ambiance is ok, lots of mold and moss from the humidity. It feels a bit small and cheap for the price you pay but it's ok, you're there for the creatures, not the "park."If you love the pretty little creatures, you'll enjoy this place - especially when it's cold outside as it's toasty humid inside. Bring a good camera, stay a while, and leave your small impatient kids at home to make it worth your time.

If you travel to Put-in-Bay, this is a must stop. Great variety of high quality souvenirs in their gift shop, and the butterfly house itself is amazing! You will not be disappointed.

This can be a nice and peaceful stop for your day. The butterfly house itself, which is in the back of the building shop, is kept pretty warm, but the scenery is very beautiful and peaceful. Before you go in, you will get to see cocoons and butterflies coming out of the cocoon. The shop itself is enormous and has a huge varity of novelties, collectibles, ornaments, and more.

This is a neat experience. The house is kept around 100 degrees, so be prepared. It's hard to believe they only live 2-3 weeks. They have to order more every week. There are so many different types and are beautiful. They give you a color photo of them. Try to fin them all.

Such a unique experience here. The butterflies are absolutely beautiful and the staffs conservation efforts do not go unnoticed. please respect their rule of not touching the butterflies if you go.
