I have been shipping with UPS for 15.5 years for my business. I have never had an issue arise until today when I stopped in to Store 3485 located at 3982 Powell Rd, Powell Ohio.I ship at least one piece of equipment back monthly to the manufacturer for calibration. The manufacturer has always told us to place $1,000.00 worth of insurance on the shipment, which I have always done (again for 15.5 years!).Today, when I requested this be done, the employee working the counter had someone else come over to explain how "the insurance works". I did not think a thing about it as I have had numerous other locations explain that UPS places a value of $100.00 on all shipments. Any insurance placed is in addition to this and yada yada yada. I have heard the rundown numerous times. This time was different though.....A woman who identified herself as Amanda told me that the insurance only applies if UPS at the store level packs the package. If The UPS Store does not pack the shipment, then insurance can not be placed on the shipment. She then told me that she would be happy to repackage my shipment (at a fee of course). I asked her why this was and tried to explain that I have been doing this same process for over 15.5 years and have never had a problem.Amanda started to get short with me stating that whomever had done it in the past was not correct and she was. (I have utilized different UPS Store locations across Columbus depending where my travels take me that given day.) She then stated she has been at The UPS Store for 17 years and owns 3 different locations. Amanda then continued on stating that if UPS loses a package they only cover $100.00 no matter what the insurance is on the shipment. (So... what's the point of the insurance then?)I must have had a bewildered look on my face because Amanda then commented on "how my face looked". I tried to ask a few more questions, but she would just cut me off or start talking over top of me.At this point, I told her that I did not think that it was professional to keep talking over top of a customer when they are trying to speak. She then put her hands in the air and walked away leaving the original employee standing at the counter with me. Poor guy was left in an awkward situation that was created by his boss (assuming owner of the location based on her statements) and then simply asked if I still wanted to ship the package out.Very strange encounter. I called UPS Corporate and they stated this was not a company wide policy and seemed taken back by what had occurred. I was then told to try a different location, to which I did. Guess what... not a single problem there. I asked the store manager of the next location about the insurance aspect and was told the same thing that I have always been told in the past. He further clarified that they do NOT have to package the shipment in order to do so either.I fully realize this review will do nothing to change the environment at this Powell location. Just be warned, there is attitude and attempts to charge extra at this location both of which are entirely unnecessary to ship through UPS.Looking at reviews of others, it seems this has been ongoing for years at the Powell location. My advice: Pick another UPS Store!

My experience at this UPS store has been consistently disappointing due to the rude behavior of the woman employee, who I suspect is the owner. Despite repeated visits, she has shown a complete lack of interest in assisting me with locating my packages, making every visit a hassle. Just because of her alone, I will not be returning to this store in the future. I would rather let my packages shipped back to the sender.

Anything you ask them is an inconvenience, rude and arrogant employees.

Update: Still the best customer service I've received at any UPS Store and will still utilize this location. Unfortunately, not the best packing. The trophy arrived broken. I know the way the loaders, unloaders, and drivers treat the package is a factor as well. Only docking by 1 star.Best UPS Store I’ve ever been to! Customer service is above and beyond. We’re shipping a FFL trophy out (big, awkward, fragile) and they took care of it and packed it like it was their own. Thank you guys!

I usually only come here with returns or pre-labeled easy items, but this store is always well staffed and fast.

I'm a little surprised to see all the negative issues. I use this location for Amazon returns frequently. I've noticed they are always well staffed and I rarely have to wait at all. It's always a scan/thank you situation. I always make sure I know how to handle the return from my responsibility, maybe others are lacking in that effort.

They want $3 to print a label. I ship a lot of stuff with ups, never been to a store that charged $3 (minimum) to print a label.

Always pleasant and helpful! There is a young man there that is always so sweet and provides great customer service. I had a ton of Amazon returns once had he didn’t bat an eye. Highly recommend!

After reading some concerning reviews, I hesitated to bring in my multitude of Amazon returns. I was pleasantly greeted by the young woman who helped me. She quickly scanned all my items and provided receipt. I started getting text about returned items approved from Amazon before I was even out of the parking lot.

Management is rude and they nickel and dime charges. Some staff is fine but I’ll drive 5 min down the road from now on. Probably should be one star but employee was nice.

The tall caucasian man who is bald and late 30s or early 40s (I believe it’s the owners son) is very uncomfortable to speak with. Made my wife uncomfortable by spending time looking at our home address and then making judgment comments about where we live and being too young to live in “that neighborhood”. When I’ve been in this store I’ve heard him make strange comments to others and can be rude and talks down to people. The rest of the staff, including him, also don’t know how to use certain UPS corporate account cards no matter how many times you show and tell them. We’ve stopped going to this location and the one about a mile and a half south on sawmill is a much better experience.

I went in to ship a package without all the materials I needed, and the staff bent over backwards to help me get it done. Best customer service ever.

I have been here twice and had bad experience both times. The young girl at the front is very rude and not helpful at all. I asked for a receipt and looks like she is annoyed.
