Our mortgage was sold to Fifth Third and has been nothing but problems since. They ruined my perfect credit with their incompetence and keep fighting me on removing the error - details below. My payments have always been automatic so I've never missed one. Last year, my payment amount increased by $10 because of an escrow change and the first month when it changed was short by that much. Keep in mind that is only 0.6% of the payment amount. Instead of applying my additional $10 payment, they mailed me a check for $1500, said "we didn't know how to apply this payment," and reported to the credit bureaus that I paid nothing, which is an absolute lie. I went into this branch when I received the check and handed it to them, so they applied it to my loan as they should have originally and assured me that my credit would be cleared. However, now it's a year later and I just found that my credit score is still 40 points lower because they never removed the missed payment from my report. I called to tell them this and now they outright refuse to make the correction. This is costing me opportunities and interest based on my damaged credit score. At this point I believe this is not a simple mistake, but an example of predatory banking practices.

Absolutely the best personal service - all reps take their time to explain and solve problems! We had questions about phishing concerns - they took care of everything immediately… thank you!

Walked in last week to setup auto pay, teller didn’t understand auto-loan until she figured out it had to do with cars. During this confusion. a banker or possibly manager stepped out took my form - no conversation, no asking to see ID and said he’d take care of it. All week I have been wondering if he actually did anything so I called Fifth Third customer support and of course, nothing was done. Probably filed it in the too hard basket. Now supposing it actually does take more than 5 days to process, then he should at least have had a conversation, treated me like a customer and told me. I only called Customer Support because the service i got left me feeling very suspicious.

I would like to relate my most recent visit with 5th/3rd. On 12/8/2020 I made an ATM deposit at 5th/3rd from my primary account. On the morning of 12/9/20, I received a text with my balance reflexing a partial part of my deposit, which is normal. About 5 hours later, I get an email with my daily balance and it does NOT reflect the partial deposit they made earlier. Thank God I had NOT used my debit card, as they reversed my money. Upon seeing this, I called my local branch, spoke with Sherry, she blamed my other bank, claiming that they put a flag on my account, which I knew simply was not true, I have banked with them for years, both our business and personal accounts. I called my other bank, no they indeed did NOT flag my account, the funds had cleared the day before in full. Now, 5th/3rd is "holding" my funds for 10 days! Unacceptable, I need my money. It is Christmas time. You are using my money for 10 days. Further, please don't put the blame on the other banking institution that has served my husband and I very well for many years. I will be taking my money out once they finally release my money to me that they are holding for 10 days! Think twice before opening an account with 5th/3rd.

Let me start by saying I never write negative reviews for things. I prefer to give businesses second chances if I have a bad experience. That being said, over the past 6 years that I have been a Fifth Third customer, I have encountered far too many issues to remain silent. A few things I have experienced: 1. My savings account was just shut down a week ago with no notice to me, written or otherwise. I didn't even know until I logged on to transfer funds, and the account was just gone from my mobile banking portal. 2. This is not specific to me, but when my debit card was compromised, it took more than two weeks to SHIP me a new one. Why waste time and postage, plus risk the card being stolen in the mail when most other banks can print you a new card immediately in a branch. Not to mention, the two weeks I was without the use of my debit card. I do commend Fifth Third, they caught fraudulent activity before any charges were made on the card, but shut my card off before even checking with me. 3. At the Powell branch, there is a teller with the last name of Rasberry who has not only given me issues EVERY time I have visited the branch, but also seems to have it out for every other person in my family, all of whom bank at Fifth Third as well. I'm surprised she's still employed there since Fifth Third prides itself on having superior customer service, and the only tone she's ever used towards me and my family is a derogatory and disdainful one. I would like to mention that the issues she always causes are always related to a minor technicality that has never been an issue with any other teller or any other branch, only with her. The other tellers at this branch have always been very understanding and kind, but for whatever reason she has a vendetta against my family and always rolls her eyes when she sees us walk into the branch. 4. My original savings account was a GoalSetter Savings. I was not able to access the funds without approval and presence of a custodial parent account, which was never an issue until I got older. This account was set up when I was 16. I'm now 22, and after dealing with this for 5 years, a manager at the branch finally helped me switch to a relationship savings account, something no other teller had thought of doing before, even when I asked how I could get around having a parent come to the bank with me every time I needed to access my savings. (This relationship account is the one that was just closed with no notice). Why no one ever thought to help me do this before, I'll never know, but it was ridiculous that as an adult I wasn't able to access my own money without one of my parents. I'm sure there are plenty of other things that have happened as well, but the closing of my savings account is the last straw. I think I'll be switching to a different bank from now on.
