We have ordered from this hatchery for years. Love the wide variety of breeds and great customer service. If you have any issues with your order they work to correct it quickly and easily.

Went to the hatchery today with my little girl.Employees not the friendliest, had to move my purchases to open register after being told that register is closed. After paying I said thank you and didn’t even get a thank you back.Just a terrible experience for a first time customer supporting local businesses

Horrible customer service & completely impersonal. I ordered twelve hatching eggs. They came on the last day of arrival COLD. Nothing to keep them warm. Out of the 11 they sent, they forgot to pack one, only 2 hatched. We had them property incubated. When I went to email them about this they did nothing to help or make up for their lack of I would say care in sending fertilized eggs. Thankfully we have the two, but I would very much NOT recommend this company to anyone.

All our chick's came happy and healthy which is awesome! but they never once described a "Homestead helper" as an obvious rooster. I thought it was some sort of feed. Great hatchery but the "online"/ website needs some work/better descriptions. Now i have a rooster and i didn't want one. Made that pretty clear to everyone who works there. Some people don't want roosters. But still got a Roo anyways. Not thrilled about that. But overall great place for chickens. First timer here and now i know. Never again will i click the homestead helper option haha it was my mistake but the description should be better especially for us first timers lol

My review is for the hatching eggs we ordered. Dismal hatch rates. Ordered 36 hatching eggs, and about half of them had fallen out of the foam transportation device, but none were broken. Of the 36, 8 hatched. That's about $14 per chick. I'd say skip the hatching eggs and just order chicks! You're bound to have much better luck. We will skip hatching eggs and just order chicks next time.

Never again. At least 3 chicks died shortly after receiving our order . After that several started showing signs of genetic issues. Many have died. Very disappointed in their breedings.

Thank you Meyer Hatchery for the beautiful healthy babies that came today. You are the Only hatchery I will ever use. The shipping is quick and my flock of 15 were packed so nicely. Thank you for taking the time to make sure the whole process goes smoothly. I highly recommend your hatchery . Thanks for all you do!

I had an excellent experience with Meyer! I ordered 14 hens and 1 rooster on 1/8/24. It was too cold when they were supposed to ship, so they held them until a later date. This was fine with me, I would rather have them arrive safely. I called a few times to make some changes to my order prior to the original ship date, and I added a free meal maker. I also had a bunch of questions, and they were so polite and courteous in answering them for me. They shipped on Monday 2/5 and arrived around noon on 2/6. It was about 34 degrees in my area and they all arrived safe and warm. I have had them for 2 full days and all are rambunctious and healthy! They are so adorable. I was so pleased that all of them survived the trip and are thriving.

I ordered 50 quail eggs and 20 arrived 3 days later than the latest expected delivery date. When I open the box there were only 20 out of the 50 quail eggs. I emailed them and they said there should have been two boxes taped together. We waited for the other box to arrive which it never did, so I emailed them to see if I could get a refund. We emailed back and forth with them questioning me on how the shipment came (almost like they were saying the other box did arrive and I was not telling the truth). Then when they finally did research all of the eggs should have been in one box and 30 eggs were left out of the box by the hatchery. So I told them I would like a full refund of the 50 eggs because I would have to buy a second incubator to have two sets of eggs incubating at the same time. I would also have to have a second place to house the quail once they have hatched until they are fully grown. They said that they would only ship the 30 eggs that weren't shipped the first time. This is their fault they didn't package the right amount of eggs and I have to go out of my way to hatch two sets of eggs as well as by a second incubator to get them hatched out. Their customer service was terrible I spent hours back and forth with them trying to get this figured out with no resolution. How when it is their fault that they didn't ship the correct amount of eggs do they not make the customer whole!!!! Do not buy from this hatchery; we have bought from multiple hatcheries and have had no problems like this.

I have ordered a variety of day old chicks from Meyer many times and every time I have been very happy. The chicks arrived healthy and they consistently grew in to great laying hens for our flock. However, the last time I ordered I did not have such great luck. Many of the the chicks failed to thrive. While it may sound counter intuitive this is the exact reason I am writing this 5-star review. The customer service I received was outstanding. They exceeded my expectations in how they handled the situation and I can assure you I will be a customer for as long as I order hens. Next up for me will be quail hatching eggs from Meyer. This business deserves big props!

I would highly recommend Meyer Hatchery to anyone looking to pickup some chicks! I opted to pickup in store, as I'm about 2 hours away from their location. I picked up 8 Black Australorp Hens, and 1 Black Australorp Rooster. While leaving my house, I realized they had a few Blue Copper Marans available as over hatch. I didn't think to call them, but asked upon pickup if I could add one Blue Copper Maran to my pickup order. They were so helpful, and checked availability for me. To my surprise, they had one available, and added it to my box!Everyone was so friendly and helpful. As a new chicken owner, I had a lot of questions, which they happily answered for me. They even gave me a little guidance on how to get them home warm and safe. We're just over the 48 hour mark here, and all 10 babies are happy, healthy, and bouncing around their brooder. I'm already contemplating ordering a few more Blue Copper Marans later this summer, as Dolly is the sweetest little chick who hops right in my hand when I visit.

I would suggest finding a hatchery local to you if you want eggs. I have been waiting on my eggs since Tuesday and they are still not here. I contacted them regarding this and it was basically “too bad, if they don’t show up by Wednesday then contact us then because they are viable 7-14 days”. I was under the impression that eggs were sent with express shipping, and they are not. I will be finding a local hatchery here from now on. I spent too much money on these eggs just for them to get wrecked in the shipping process.
