Good work, spotty communication.We had never had the chimney serviced on our 1999-built house, and we were also occasionally hearing birds get in there, so we decided to have some long overdue work done, late in the fall. The 2 techs who came did an efficient cleaning job, and shared photos they'd taken of the inside of the chimney to demonstrate what they'd done. As for the birds, they could see that the chimney's chase cover was damaged, and recommended replacing it for ~$4K (about half of which was for the custom manufacture of the cover). That would involve a first appt for them to set up scaffolding and take measurements, and a second appt a week or so later to install the new cover.We considered the quote for a week or so while thinking about whether to delay the work until after we'd had the house's stucco and trim repaired (another need). Talking on the phone with Ali (or Alex, it varied), we decided to have CG's add on replacement of the trim adjacent to the chimney, in order to avoid a later stucco/trim repair possibly damaging the new cover. With that settled, we paid for the parts, and CGs said to expect the work to begin in first week of January.Later, they called to say they could do the first part in December after all. This was great, except that we were going to be out of town, was that OK? They said sure. This was where the confusion began. A text arrived the following Monday saying they'd be there Tuesday. On Tuesday, an email arrived saying they'd be there Wednesday. Had there been a problem? (We didn't know, since we were out of town.) In a phone call, Ali apologized for not explaining that something had come up on Tuesday, but they'd definitely be there Thursday. On Friday, another text came saying they'd arrive on Saturday. Huh? I asked for clarification, and another text said the first appt had gone well, and the second one was still on track for January. OK, fine.Back from vacation, and good news! The cover was ready to be installed a week early! The guy who came two days ago installed it with no technical problems, but seemed confused when I mentioned the bit about the trim before he started: He hadn't been on the team that had set up the scaffold and taken the measurements. I explained, and he went to work. When he was done later, he showed me pics of the new cover in place; I asked about the trim, and he was still confused. He pulled up the invoice on his phone, said, "Oh, there it is," and excused himself to call HQ for instructions; when he reported back, the proposal was to just forget about the trim and take it off the invoice again. Based on the pics, I guessed it was probably fine, but it seems like work is needed on communication not only between CG leadership and customers, but also among the various teams within the CG outfit.Yesterday another team came to remove the scaffolding, which proceeded without incident, and I paid the balance using the online portal. (This was a nice option: You can use a credit card without the 3% charge that you'd pay if you used a card in person.) Time will tell whether the new cover keeps the critters out, but in any case, it's a new and upgraded cover from what we had. In their closing email, they attached lots of before/during/after pics.

Highly recommended. They did a complete chimney and fireplace replacement for me. During the course of my project, I was able to meet and work with both owners and their project manager is amazing. The only small area of improvement I'd recommend for them is consistency on the customer service side, but my issues were small and did not take away from the overall experience with them.

Great company had no issues with them coming out doing an inspection letting me know what’s wrong and coming back out and fixing the problem. Would recommend. Professional and cleaned up after themselves.

It has been a horrible experience with The Chimney Guys. We got a quote for work that did not include a liner but we asked for an all in quote, we had work done and then got a bill for double the amount. Their billing and quote process is terrible and I have asked them for some clarification and requested a call back. They do not call me back. This has been going on for 3 weeks.

Christian and Justin arrived right on time and were very professional and friendly. The cleaning was very thorough from what I could see (and hear, when they went on the roof to check the chimney from the outside. ?) Everything was left very clean and neat. It was clear they knew their business very well and it was very reassuring to have their assessment that our fireplace and chimney were in good shape. Thanks, Chimney Guys! Very satisfied customer. Wii be in touch after we burn a cord this winter!
