I found Bartels while vacationing a few yrs back I have never left my Laya overnight anywhere and certainly not with strangers, after careful research choosing a resort I felt comfortable enough to leave my baby in their care , I came across Bartels they offered all the amenities I was looking for Laya was only in their care a few days, but I was able to give her comfort in her own suite and best part was being able to look in on her with a camera available in her suite, that was the most comforting. Laya was roughly 10yrs of age at this time, shortly after her stay I made an appointment on the clinic side to have her routine checkup and 4yrs later Dr. Mitzy has been her vet ever since,She is very kind, smart, and always explained every detail of Layas care so I would understand, she was therough with her care plan ,and always gave us both what we needed , answering all my questions and looking out for Layas best interest, she has overseen Layas care from treating Laya for dementia, overseeing her aging and never over looking an issue. I trusted her answers, and diagnosis as over the years she has been spot on, recently, Layas last visit I was told she had eye cancer, spinal cancer, declining kidneys,ETC..It was hard to accept, and alot to take in,over the past few weeks, everything Dr, Mitzy said was going to happen, HAPPENED, she started declining very rapidly,Dr,Mitzy was always there when I called and she did her very best to make sure my Laya was as comfortable as possible.Yesterday September 25th, I ended my Layas suffering, not wanting her to experience more pain than she already was,If it wasn't for Dr, Mitzy caring for Laya over the past few years I know she would not have lived this long, I am Grateful for her,and for giving me a few extra yrs of love and memories with my baby! Good doctors are hard to come by,and I was lucky to find her so late in Layas life but just when we needed her the most she came right on time!! Thank you Dr, Mitzy for all you've done for Laya and I keeping my baby with me just a little longer.!! You are our angel.!! And you'll never know how much I appreciate you and Thank you for being the Best!! ??R.I.H my princess Layagyrl 2011-2024.mommy will love you forever and always!?

Don't waste your time. They have an "Emergency" sign but they don't take walk ins. What kind of doctors turn away sick animals?
Edit: Take down your Emergency sign if you're not an Emergency facility. That could literally be life and death to those who don't know you're an "appointment only hospital".

We boarded Rusty for four days while attending my son’s wedding out of state. We were very happy to receive photos with daily text updates from Felicia, Lizzy and Natalie. It gave us a great peace of mind knowing our dog was being taken care of so well! Thank you for the wonderful treat box! Rusty loves his new toy!

I’ve been going here for years, ever since I moved back up to the Cleveland area, but today was the first time I had brought a new puppy there that I have recently adopted and the staff were just wonderful. They have always been so wonderful and kind, and Dr. Walker is so amazing and compassionate. So just when I didn’t think they couldn’t get better, they are so cute when you bring your new addition there. They give you a little gift bag with some starter items and even take a photo of your pets first vet visit! The staff here truly cares, and I highly recommend this place and Dr. Walker, we’ve been through a lot together with all my animals and she is just the kindest vet you will come across!

Everyone was very helpful and really nice to us. I called and was able to set an emergency appointment ASAP!!! Super friendly with my cat, even though he wasnt excited at the end. I know we have a place to go when needed. Even Bandit, would give it 4 Paws. Thanks you all for the help.

What a wonderful medical group! They are VERY accommodating (my husband and I have tricky schedules, and our pets have a LOT of special needs) and efficient, but that is not what makes them so special. The doctors, vet techs, vet assistants, groomers, and even the people in reception are warm and friendly and CARING, especially Holly, Mel B. (Our kitty Reggie is in LOVE with her!) and Drs. Walker and Mitzi. They all listened to our questions and concerns, and they treated us with kindness and patience. It is clear that they wanted us to understand every part of the appointment, and they made sure to get our informed consent about entry procedure or treatment. And the way they treat our kitties? Amazing. After every appointment, they called us "just to check in with how the patients are doing". You can really tell that they love animals.

Don’t have enough great things to say! I found a stay kitten and wanted him to be seen asap. After calling multiple offices and being told 2 weeks for his first visit, Bartels took my name and number and called me back with a same day apt 15 mins after I called! (Note: it was considered emergency but not overpriced!) The entire staff was beyond friendly and made us both feel comfortable for our first time there. They were welcoming and not pushy on anything which I appreciated. Thank you!!

I took my skinny guinea pigs to their first ever vet visit and was this piggie mama nervous! It is so hard to find a good exotic vet and I felt at ease with the Dr. Walker who also made my piggies at ease too! I will be boarding my two, Harriet and Clementine and it will be my first time away from my babies and I feel more confident and assured in leaving them on their care. Love this place and thankful to have found a caring staff and doctor.Michelle

We adopted a special needs dog three years ago. Dre is blind and has brain damage in all parts of his brain. My husband and I are very particular and have incredibly high standards on who we leave our Dre with. My husband and I took Dre to the Barkley Hotel for two weeks the first year we had him. The place was nice, clean, attentive to Dre's needs, and pricey. We decided to try Bartels and Busack the following year, and Dre loved it as much or more than the Barkley Hotel. Some workers even came in on their day off to visit Dre. We received updates on Dre every other day, including pictures of him outside playing with the workers. If they have any concerns, they notify us right away. Plus, they have a Vet on the premises, which made us feel better due to Dre's medical conditions. My husband and I trust the staff with our Dre. Two weeks ago, we dropped Dre off for his second two-week stay. Again, the staff and facility did not disappoint!

I have taken many of my cats to Bartels over the years and their care is also top notch! I recently brought in my cat for a pre dental appt. Dr Wigal was very thorough and found his thyroid was dangerously high. During the exam, she asked hiw he was eating and I replied he cannot get enough food, as every meal was as though he hadn't eaten for a month. Dr. Wigal noticed he had lost weight and suggested bloodwork to confirm her suspicion of hyperthyroidism. She also heard a slight heart murmur and I decided to have a chest xray, which showed an enlarged heart. This was all a shock! During this time, Dr Wigal went above and beyond to explain what treatment options were available and kept me calm. He is now on a thyroid medication with a follow up scheduled. I also received a phone call from Karen to give the rest of the lab results, which Dr Wigal reviewed, even she was on vacation. Karen has amazing communication skills and compassion. She answered all my questions and did not rush the conversation. I would not bring any of my animals anywhere but to Bartels, they are more thorough and professional than most human medical most human centers!

I went there for years and paid their ridiculous prices because their sign says they do 24-hour emergency care. They don't. When I did have an emergency during hours and I thought my dog was dying, they wanted to charge me a $200 fee to have it reviewed by their board to see if they could get her in. I never went back. You'll also wait 30 minutes to see a doctor every time you go there. Why don't they just adjust their appointment times? Don't know. You'd think they'd provide top tier service with the prices they charge.

They treat my cat really well every time we're there and call to follow up which is nice. They seem to really care
