Customer since moving back in 2015. Never any complaints. This year, I was told that apparently a software glitch locked my taxes that I filed on Jan 5 (which I filed that early because I desperately needed to get our money as fast as possible) and I had to wait until late March to get my return when I usually get it mid February. I was scared and anxious the whole time that the glitch would never get fixed, because they said my file was inaccessable to anyone, and they were working on it, while I called and was always told I had to wait - I always called, no one would ever call me back, or reach out to me or reassure me. I have always put my trust in these professionals, and paid way more than people said I should for this reason - so nothing would go wrong. I was told somewhere in the middle of this mess that I would have the filing cost waived/reimbursed due to this huge issue that was THEIRS and should not have happened - had I not been TOLD that, I never would have expected it. But I did. Once the money finally came through, they did take the filing fee. I called and spoke to the manager, saying I was told I wouldn't have to pay the fee and was counting on that now, and he told me not only would they reimburse me, he'd send me a business card saying I'd get 50% off my filing fees for next year. Neither happened. Over a month later, I had sent a letter requesting they contact me and do what they promised, and they won't respond. Again, I could have really used that money, it was a lot, and I wouldn't have expected it if I was not promised it because I was severely inconvenienced waiting for my taxes, juggling bills left and right while everyone else was getting their refunds. I was even prepared after everything to give them another chance, because I thought the manager was kind and reassuring and was going to handle this well, but in the end it feels like they just wanted rid of me, so I'm moving on and very disappointed.

I was charged way more than I expected and I think that wasn't justified. They didn't inform me beforehand about how much I'll have to pay for filing my taxes and had no option but to pay after filing.

I have been doing my taxes at H&R Block for years. I have never been asked to stop my tax return by a Tax Analyst who decides she wants to take care of a drop off for another client. I was told that my appointment ran longer than it should have. I am not kidding! I was asked to come back an hour later to finish my tax return. I did, but I am not happy at all!Why wouldn’t you reschedule the next appointment for the other customer or hand the client off to another H&R Block Tax Analyst? Instead of stopping my appointment to accommodate another client? I was embarrassed! I felt like she did not care about the way she handled my appointment or me.I want to point out that I called and spoke with Mrs. Cox, who is a Senior Tax Analyst for H&R Block in Painesville, OH 2 weeks in advance. I wanted to make sure she would block off enough time to work on my taxes. A lot of good that did me! I guess my time is not worth anything to H&R Block or Mrs. Cox. Maybe next time she could ask me to leave and send me on a Starbucks run. NOT!!!I downloaded all my tax records to Documents on the H&R Block site the day before. The Tax Analyst told me she could not find the Documents I downloaded when I went to the appointment online. I had to call my fiancée and she took a snapshot from H&R Block Documents on our iPad showing every document was downloaded and sitting in H&R Documents. Then all of the sudden Mrs. Cox found what she needed to do my returns.I feel like Mrs. Cox owes me an apology. I feel like this should be looked into and escalated through the proper channels so this does not happen to someone else. Also, Mrs. Cox needs to realize that my time is important just like everyone else! Please make sure you're not asked to leave an appointment so the next client can be taken care of when your taxes are not finished. Especially, when you have all the records you need to finish your tax returns. I feel like I should be reimbursed some of the money I paid to get my taxes done, especially after being asked to leave and come back an hour later. Unless, there is a special incentive to come back next year. Otherwise you have lost a customer who has been with H & R Block for over 20 years. Most importantly I want to make sure that I am heard, seen and not dismissed.
