His doctor instructed my son to enter the hospital immediately for a required surgery. As many pet owners have experienced, sometimes unanticipated demands come up that require us to abruptly board our pets. In our case it would be our dog. Upon getting the dire medical diagnosis, my son promptly called The Barkley Pet Hotel to arrange for an immediate week long stay. He requested time for our dog to enter The Barkley's "Pet Camp," each day, where dogs get to romp and play with other dogs. We believe this to be essential for dogs in order to soften their stress and loneliness from being in a strange place away from the love and security of their homes. My son was told by a Barkley employee that there was an absolute requirement that the dogs have their behavior and temperament assessed before being allowed to safely enter The Barkley's Pet Camp, which seemed fine and prudent. But the Barkley staff member also asserted a three week wait time for this required assessment, so that if we indeed needed to board our dog immediately, she would have to be relegated to spending twenty three and a half hours each day alone in a small concrete room by herself. As a meager consolation, The Barkley offered a service to have an orderly sit with my dog for a few minutes each day for an additional eight dollar fee. This is clearly woefully insufficient to effectively comfort an animal that is otherwise alone all day and missing home. The Barkley refused to allot ten minutes to allow our dog the opportunity to spend some time playing with other dogs to break up an otherwise lonely and monotonous day. This is not what we consider caring for a pets well being, which we would argue is essential for any pet boarding establishment that you would want to bring your pet to. Based on its demonstrated uncaring ethic, The Barkley clearly doesn't qualify. After being summarily dismissed by The Barkley staff member, my son called back a day later to beg for some empathy with his situation, for The Barkley's to please find that mere five or ten minutes to conduct our dog's temperament assessment so that her time boarding with them would be bearable. He called multiple times, each time being sent to voicemail. Ultimately, no one there ever returned his calls. When he finally got through after dialing six times in a row, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the Barkley's refusal to provide for our dog's well being, for purely arbitrary reasons. And instead of offering to revisit their decision, they hung up the phone. Based on our experience there, The Barkley's priorities seem to neither be the pets nor the pet owners, but rather both maximizing revenue and devoting as little time as regrettably required to the pets well being. If The Barkley's can make no ten minute accommodation for a customer in dire need of immediate heart surgery, then you have to question whether they have heart enough themselves to be caring and loving surrogate caregivers to our precious pets, and whether they have any regard for the intense love and emotional attachment pet owners have for their pets. Don't bring your pets to The Barkley's as it plainly does not possess the requisite caring, affectionate culture that your pet deserves and requires for their happiness and well being when they are away from home.

After a series of concerning events, I am so grateful that Jessica reached out to check in with me. She showed genuine care and concern, and that lets me know that she truly does value her clients both (pup and people) as well as maintaining a staff that is kind, considerate respectful and willing to be on target with the information that they take in from vets and with scheduling. It’s great to know that she’s there representing this company and any mistakes that may happen she’s the perfect person to address them as she really does care.Thank you Jessica

I was very upset at the experience that I initially had with this daycare. But Jessica reached out to me, and we had a conversation and her heartfelt apology and willingness to address the issues that were concerning to me with her staff means the world to me. It means that someone is in place to recognize when mistakes have been made and is willing to correct them for future customers. Thank you, Jessica.

The Barkley! I travel to Cleveland quite a bit for work, and when I do - I like to bring my doggies. The Barkley has not only been super accommodating, but they have a high level of attention to your pet(s) temperament needs - and their acclimation to the day care environment. Thank you for all that you do for us!

I am beyond upset and ashamed of the care of my dog here. I have an 80 Lb Aussiedoodle who was dropped off Friday at noon. When drop off (my first or second time taking my dog there) I filled paperwork and booked a $60 suite for my dog. After getting the camera information I checked the cameras every couple hours to realize he was always in the room when i checked. When i came to pick him up I asked if he was played with. Just to be told he was never signed up for “play time” and wasn’t put in with the camp. The person who checked me in did not offer play time. I’m confused how no one would double check or ask and instead kept my 80lb puppy IN A BOX FOR 3 DAYS. I mean this is absolutely astonishing and I’m beyond furious. I will never take my dog back here as apparently no one there has any ques or cares to realize a giant dog in a small room for 3 days isn’t weird to anyone!

Our family LOVES the Barkley. Our lil pup, Sadie, is so excited whenever we drop her off for camp and has an absolute blast playing with her doggo friends. She comes home happy and exhausted. It's comforting to know she's in a safe and loving environment. The grooming at the Barkley is also incredible! We've been thrilled with the availability, price and outcome each time. Finding the Barkley has been a game changer for us, as it gives us a piece of mind while we're away at work. The staff is so kind, attentive and loving. We love you, Barkley team!!
