Fka Foodland. This is Oak Hill's only grocery store. The prices are too high on most items. You MUST check the expiration dates on all items because it is not a lack of rotation or attention, I asked the owner about an expired item once just to gauge the reaction and he proceeded to assure me the product was still good and those dates are merely suggestions. Which, I do agree, a lot of items are shelf stable...but not everything and not for as long as it takes for a can of peas to begin weeping on the shelf, which is one of many horrors I have witnessed here. The worst offenders have been the baby formula and food area, because whether one day or one year, if expired, I dont think it is morally right to play games with babies health, & the produce area which has a thick layer of mold underneath every section with newer items simply placed atop. (Update to say the produce area has been redone and it has more items and so far has looked much cleaner and nice. I hope they choose to keep up with the maintenance and care it requires.)
The meat selection is on the smaller side and I have seen many an expired product still available for purchase but they are marked with the dates so at least they allow you to choose your fate.
The freezer ices over everything inside so you will likely taste only freezer for a good portion of products here. Some of the freezers work better than others though.
The dairy often has expired milk selections so always dig as far back as you can and make sure you will drink it quickly. They only have a couple yogurt items. Eggs are often sold out, probably just because it is a small space for them. (Another update to say they have given the dairy area a makeover too! A lot more options for yogurt and creamers, dips and eggs. It is much better to the eye and great for parents as the yogurt options are typical prices.)
The chip aisle baffles me because they will hang signs with sale prices but absolutely none of the items here have any price listed so you really have no idea what you're in for until you check out.
The soda pop is clearly marked and in line with the bigger store prices and always seems fresh. And if you get the 24 case it actually is better priced than in town! It's one of the few grocery stores that sell Ski these days.
They do not participate in the coupons advertised with their loyalty card. I'm not actually sure they even have the loyalty cards to offer since they do not participate but I know they hang the sale prices with the coupons listed which I feel like is a bit of false advertising. At the very least it can be confusing to anyone not very familiar with the store and their unique ways.
All in all, sometimes it is more convenient than driving to town if you only need 1 or 2 things to tide you over until your next shopping trip in Jackson. But I would never be able to recommend shopping here in earnest unless a very big change were to come and put some real care back into our little village's only grocery destination.
The women in the deli and cashiers up front have always been sweet and that's the very best part of this store.

nice workers but do not use the claw machine absolutely rigged. This will ruin a child’s experience if this is the only claw machine they can use. Super sad for the kids in this area.

Meat with maggots and produce always fuzzy and always at least half rotten on bottom. Mean girls and bullies work the day shift as mangers playing god. U can get banned for taking rotten food back. Night shift girls and managers are awesome and polite and caring. I have pics
