Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. I’m sure the vet is great but the customer service team is horrible. I confirmed an appointment 4 times (2 via text, 1 email (two days before appt), and 1 via phone call). Get a call the day before and they cancelled my appointment due to no verbal confirmation within 24 hours of appointment. The woman who I spoke with was also extremely rude. When the vet’s wonder why they don’t have business, I suggest her try to schedule an appointment and will quickly see why

I'm not sure how people posted great things about Dr. Friedman, but I had a horrible experience when I trusted her to examine my almost 9 year old dog yesterday. I took him in to get a perception refill for his allergy medication that he has been on for 7 YEARS. She "required" unnecessary tests in order to refill it, which was completely news to me. I have never had to have my dog REQUIRE $240 bloodwork in order to refill his medication?! I normally see Dr. Kovacic, who is amazing and only required to at least EXAMINE my dog every year (which is completely understandable), not torture him for bloodwork and ear cleaning every year before prescribing it. I'm in healthcare and understand the concept of advocating and patient rights, Dr. Friedman should have respected what I was telling her about my dog. I have had him since he was a baby, so I know his skin issues are all allergies. I've paid lots of money for him to have testing, and it always came down to the simple "your dog just has bad allergies." She completely disregarded anything I said, saw him for less than an hour, and "required" unnecessary testing that left me with a bill for $477 just so I can get medication that my dog has been taking for 7 years. The best part is that once she tortured my dog for bloodwork, stuck him 3 times with a needle, I left there with a prescription minutes later BEFORE bloodwork results.. please tell me how that makes any sense?! And when I questioned her on it, she gave me vague answers about how prescribing the medication wasn't determined on results, she just wanted to see his liver counts "because he's a senior dog" and there may be some vets that dont require it. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE NOT REQUIREMENTS. I told her if this is a new requirement that I'll have to put my dog through every year in order to get him allergy medication from VCA York, then ill have to find a new vet. She shrugged her shoulders and said "ok". Super unprofessional, completely disregarded anything I told her, put my dog through unnecessary torture, and made him get very aggressive for absolutely no reason. Literally did more harm to him than good, and my dog already hated coming to the vet. This was his worst visit yet, I have never seen him get so aggressive. Her solution was that "next time he comes, he should take fear free medication to calm him down which may or may not work but worth a shot," which he has NEVER in years had to take for a visit. The tech, on the other hand, was great and actually advocated for my dog by telling Dr. Friedman that we should not continue to mess with him because it wasn't safe anymore since he was getting aggressive. When leaving, I told the secretary I never want to see Dr. Friedman again. I absolutely do not trust any of my pets with her, especially if she has no regard to what pet owners have to say. I will see Dr. Kovacic again and confirm this "requirement" that randomly sprung up this year. If this is true and VCA York "requires" unnecessary testing and torture in order to refill an allergy medication, then I will not be back.

I wish I found Dr. Friedman years ago as my vet! Dr. was more than wonderful with my senior cat. You can tell she cares about the pet and the pet parent. I finally understood my cat's condition after so many appointments with other vets. Only feedback is it would be good to have WIFI that works in the lobby. :)

My family has been taking our pets her for years. A year or so I brought one of my cats in for his chin being swollen. I couldn't get him in anywhere close to home and was panicking. Drove the 45minutes from our current home to take him to be seen. They were so kind to my Old buddy. They gave him so much love and told him how good he was doing. They helped his swollen chin and he was back to normal within a few days. Niko my Husband and I appreciate York Rd Animal Hospital.

Brought Marley for her first appointment at VCA and will continue to come back! I have two children under two with me with a Rottweiler who isn’t yet leash trained and was greeted outside by my car to help me inside. I wish I caught the lady’s name at the front desk because she truly was amazing with Marley and my kids. She even brought my daughter out in the front so I can focus with the Doctor, brought coloring inside the room for the kids, and helped me walking Marley outside after my appointment while helping my kids inside my car. It feels like a family there and I love it. Vet techs and the Doctor were also very kind and help me understand what was going on and answered all my questions, wrote down different brand foods to try, and always gave me options for the care of Marley! If you’re looking for a vet that cares about your animal I highly recommend VCA!

I was really impressed with how good of a job they do here. They really value their customers there, honest and give great advice! They also seem very reasonably priced or maybe even on the Cheaper side!

They were truly amazing! I didn’t know what to expect but I definitely didn’t expect what I received. Smiles, warm friendly staff! And on top of that my cats first exam was free. The place was big and it was clean. My cat was calm and relaxed the whole time. It got even better I received a text message Monday asking about Xavier and it was no pressure for money at any point. But even more importantly Xavier was not stressed out or traumatized. VCA you are amazing and definitely exceeded my expectations!!! And that my friend is not easy to do.

Back in March 2023 my wonderful husband surprised me with my dream puppy, a Rottweiler! We named her Lola. I heard amazing things about VCA York which is why we decided to come here. My expectations were blown out of the water. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel like family when you walk in. Everyone at VCA York is incredible but I would like to really give credit to the one particular employee, Omaira. Omaira treats my Lola as if she was her own. Lola runs right up to Omaira and wont leave her side until she sees Dr. Adams (Her other favorite treat lady. Haha!) Omaira has gone above and beyond doing all she can to help accommodate my schedule with appointments for Lola, calls me, texts me and keeps me in the loop with every detail. As a first time dog mom I am worried about every thing Lola does or gets into. Omaira has given me the best advice she can, validates me and my feelings all while dealing with a crazy Rottie trying to give her all the love! I would recommend VCA over and over. A very BIG thank you to Omaira, Dr. Adam's, Kristine and the rest of the staff here. Thank you for making me feel like I'm part of the family and treating my sweet Lola as if she was your own. I am grateful!

The entire staff was great even after I had to reschedule my little guy’s first appointment. He can be a shy cat in new situations but they made him feel right at home!

I’ve been with VCA for over 5 years from Colorado ✈️ to Ohio. The Vca York Royalton I feel like see us as another number but the staff is amazing and I hate they have to work under the conditions they do. I am in the process of changing facilities due to a recent event where I was going to be charged over $1000 because I was told my pup Mochi nose was broken and they needed to do a full scull x-Ray and put her under anesthesia. They were patient in letting me figure things out because she was seen at the ER for Northview clinic in North Ridgeville & they told me it would be better if she was seen by her doctor the following Monday. & to my surprise they tried to charge me more than the ER the ER only was charging me &345 for the X-ray. I ended up having to take her back to the ER at Northview to be told it was fractured and ended up paying only $250. In other words this incident put me in the process where I will currently be pulling both my dogs Boa & Mochi out from VCA and now I’m going to Northview clinic in North Ridgeville because they treat you with care, patience and not as a dollar sign. They are affordable as well. Nicole Kovacic & Dr. Wong was very patient and I appreciate it and shout out to the front desk staff Omaira( may not be the correct spelling) and Bridget.

Our previous vet retired, and within a year we found out that our best boy ever, Max, was diagnosed with cancer at the ER vet. After spending thousands of dollars at the ER we gave the new primary care vet that took over our old vet, a chance. I was disappointed, asked for repeat testing, etc. and was told there was no point. She didn't even do an exam on my dog. I was referred by a co-worker to Dr. Kovacic, and was unable to attend our first appt, but my husband was super happy with the care. He said Dr. Kovacic looked Max from every angle, loved up to him, was honest with him as far as prognosis and plan. I just had another follow up and got to meet Dr. Kovacic, and she is one of the best not only vets, but physician's I've met. She answered all my questions, again was honest with prognosis. She called me herself with his labs and explained everything to me. Calling for his refills is super simple, and they even called in his meds to to a retail pharmacy so it would be cheaper for us. I can't say enough about Dr. Kovacic and her team. I highly recommend her!EDIT: Our sweet boy took a turn for the worst on 6/11, and we were up all night with him, watching him sleep, waiting for the VCA to open Monday 6/12. Dr. Kovacic was in surgery all day but they squeezed us in between her cases due to the nature of our situation. We knew going that we would probably be coming home without Max, and preferred the VCA over the ER for him to cross the rainbow bridge. Dr. Kovacic determined by exam he was indeed extremely ill, and there was nothing more we could do. She gave us time, comfort, empathy, and never would you think that we were "squeezed in." Dr. K and staff made our worst day, a little easier on us. We picked up his remains yesterday and were blown away while we opened everything in the parking lot. A beautiful wooden, engraved box held his remains. Hair clippings in durable, cards with the nicest quotes. And an extremely well made ceramic paw print impression. Another vet was going to charge $500 for cremation, and we would have gotten our best friend back in a tin can with paw prints and a card. We highly recommend the VCA to everyone now. I can't thank them enough for everything they did for us in the last 6 months of our sweet boy's life. THANK YOU!!!!

Brought one of my dogs in for a checkup the other day. (Included in a wellness plan they offer) The staff there is so friendly, even when my dog was a little uneasy about being checked by "strangers." They were reasonable and understanding about the situation, and let her get more comfortable with them before the exam. Great work, and thanks to everyone there!
