Dr. Hechko is a caring vet who explains treatment thoroughly. It is very apparent that he loves the animals.

We use most of the services this vet offers and have felt that the care our dog receives each time she visits is good. This office feels as though they are trying to make themselves into a high end office but the little touches are not there. For example, every time we call in the person on the other end of the phone refers to our female dog as "he". I have corrected them numerous times but it must be incorrect in their system for so many staff members to get it wrong. They have also given us problems numerous times over whether we have flea protection for our dog before she stays in the kennel, all because we don't always purchase it from them and so they don't update their system, despite us telling them. Little issues like that are annoying when they happen every single time you interact. The doctors are good and I feel as though everyone we come in contact with truly loves animals. I know others say that this practice overcharges, but here's the thing. Yes, this practice tells me every little service they could do to help my dog achieve optimal health. I don't have to act on their every suggestion. I feel as though the vets are trapped- if they didn't offer everything someone would complain about that. Yes, we can get our prescription food slightly cheaper elsewhere, so we do, but again, our choice. The vet, kennel and grooming services have always provided good care for our always has an ear infection, allergic to everything, very needy dog!

We stopped using them a while after Dr. Hechko turned a nice, but small veterinary hospital into a mega super store. Clearly somebody has to pay for that and it's better his poor clients than him do it. He did have some good vets working there at times but he is a real piece of work. First, we tend to rescue and adopt lost cats that cross our path after being unable to find their previous homes. Not a single cat went there that didn't have 'flea dirt'. You're guilt pressured to purchase a 3-month supply of flea treatment, not just for that one but for every animal in the house. He was attempting to extort almost $300 for a nonexistent problem as there were no fleas present ever. Our dog was accused of being overweight (She wasn't) by a vet that looked like a poster child for anorexia or undernourishment whom I would be surprised if she weighed 80# herself. The issue here is we were being told to feed the dog 1 cup of food per day (65# Chow/Lab mix adult.) When questioned if I knew how much a cup was and I indicated I did, she demanded the vet tech show me exactly how much a cup is. The last straw for us was when we pointed out a growth on our dog's mouth/gum. Hechko indicated it was nothing and we needn't worry about it. All without performing any testing whatsoever. A few years later, as this growth continued to get larger we revisited it with a different vet there, Dr. Roach who indicated it was a malignant tumor. We opted for the surgery to remove and paid for the biopsy with the understanding that it was either aggressive or extremely aggressive. The thing here is a quick internet search shows this is a particularly common occurrence in dogs with dark gums/tongues...like Chows! How does a vet who demands perfection and loyalty from his customers not continuously update his own skills and perfect his craft. I guess it would interfere with his empire building. He told us we should stop taking her to the daycare 2 minutes from our house and take her 30 minutes away to the daycare he just purchased. The worst part of this is the fact that he and his Dentist wife patronize a business I also use, and they are absolutely the most obnoxious people you can imagine. Demanding, derogatory and generally abusive to employees as if they're beneath them. Unable to keep their appointments on time yet expecting everyone will drop what they're doing to accommodate them immediately. Funny thing is after they run roughshod over people who went out of their way to be polite, courteous and accommodating, they leave poor reviews. FYI, these reviews affect the paycheck of the person receiving the review for months. Find a good, professional vet and avoid the potential misery this man can create for you and your animal. He stopped being a vet and became a magnate after building the new facility and it appears to be for the accolades he desires, not for his patients.

We have been going to this vet for years. They will provide fair care for your animal. During your visit, you will be drained of as much money as possible. The staff seems well trained on getting you to spend money. I think they all work on commission! Be careful of their policies and fine print that will cost you. I recommend avoiding this place if you can.

Dr. Hechko and his entire staff at North Royalton Animal Hospital have been a blessing to our numerous animals in the 15 years that they have been under their care. Their kindness compassion and knowledge have exceeded any experience I have ever had at any other veterinarian hospital. During the current coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Hechko established a protocol to ensure the safety of his staff, clients and their pets. It has been impressive to see the dedication of Dr. Hechko, all of his doctors, the Vet Techs and office staff as they were willing to voluntarily come to work to help our animals. Our dog Sydney became seriously ill during this time and wouldn't have been able to recover without Dr. Hechko and his staff being willing to be there for him. Thank you Dr. Hechko and all of your staff for the wonderful care especially during this time. You are the best!

We use the daycare, grooming and vet. The daycare and grooming are good. But the vet is Way overpriced! I would never start another dog here. So many more affordable options out there. Nickel and dime you for everything. Don't try to get in same day either. Those visits cost much more. I tried to call and remedy but no one seemed to care.

My dog is alive today because of the quick action of several of the staff! We had an emergency with our dog and called in to let them know, the girl that answered the phone said bring her in and the doctor will look at her between appointments. As soon as I arrived they saw what was going on and grabbed my dog and ran in the back to see if her stomach had flipped, which it do so the doctor cleared his morning schedule and took her in right then! She has been fine ever since. Without the whole place coming together to help I am sure my dog would not have made it. We now have 4 dogs and all of them go to North Royalton Animal Hospital.

My wife and I brought our dog Max to the North Royalton Animal Hospital as an emergency patient. We were between veterinarians at the time. They took Max as the first patient of day even though we weren't established there yet. What we found were the veterinarians and staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Our dog had surgery and treatment there and is doing great. Dr Hetchko is a fantastic caring doctor who takes time to go over information with the family and listens intently to concerns. His staff is very friendly, helpful, caring and knowledgeable. We were so pleased the care Max received that we are going to be taking our other dog Charlie and cat there.

This place is so overpriced. I brought my dog in for a wellness check. They said he needed eye surgery, X-rays of his teeth, and a culture of the ears. They quoted me for the surgery for his eye and neuter between 800 and $1,200. Plus they said in addition to the pre-surgery bloodwork, then he would have to have a flu shot. What the heck?. This wellness check cost me close to $200. Needless to say, I took him to Medina Spay and Neuter Clinic and had him neutered for $100. I will be looking for another vet to have his eye surgery done. I don't feel like their first priority is the animals. If I went along with all their recommendations, I would not be able to afford having a dog. I think many of the recommendations are completely unnecessary. I also boarded my cat there earlier this year and when I went to pick her up, they had her in her carrier on top of the counter. She moved and ultimately fell off the counter. They just laughed picked her up and handed her to me. Really unacceptable. If that goes on, what else goes on that we don't know about. Just really disgusted.
