From United Way of Licking County

United Way of Licking County started in May of 1933 as the Community Chest of Licking County. When established the organization raised $43,570 for the Boy Scouts, Child Health Camps (now Camp O’Bannon), Girl Scouts, Newark City Hospital, Salvation Army, and the YMCA. Since then, we changed from the United Fund to United Appeal, until 1973, when we became the United Way of Licking County. United Way of Licking County has completed multiple community assessments to continue identifying community needs and priorities. The number of programs we fund has increased to 45 programs via 24 agencies, including five of our original partner agencies we’ve been supporting since 1933.
