This place is absolutely beautiful. Loved our stay. Will be back.

An employee used a stick to kill a raccoon in a trash bin, with a family reunion going on. Packed like no big deal. So much for state parks.

THIS PLACE WAS HORRIBLE!! Me and my family went on the 4th of july. We get there and go to the restroom and it’s very gross looks very dirty. Me and my family went to the restaurant and the food wasn’t alright yet the potato chips were soggy and the burger was burnt. Finally we got to our room and the bathroom wasn’t clean there was still someone’s else’s belongings and the floor was wet. The front desk was not helpful at all, they said they would upgrade us then changed their mind and said the toilet needed fixed and said we could wait. We decided just to check out and definitely won’t be coming back.

We visited the park and stayed in a cabin for a couple of days. The nature, place, and wild life around the cabin were amazing. The cabin itself was so run down that it was sad. There was a leak under the kitchen sink, which we reported right away, the solution was to put a towel under the sink. One set of bunk beds was so wobbly, it was very unsafe to use (they fixed it right away though). The kitchen skillets were so damaged, I had to run to the store to buy one if we wanted to cook some edible eggs. I think the skillets were burned bcs the cooktop does not regulate heat correctly. The cabin supposedly accommodates six people but the toiletries are for one person (glad we brought ours). The covered porch furniture was so full of spider webs that we had to clean them to use them. One had a big spider on her web that I felt bad cleaning the chair and of course killing the spider. There were basically more bugs inside the cabin than out. Also, there was a branch hanging from the tree on the pathway from the parking spot to the cabin that I would hit every time; for reference I am only 5’ tall. It is a beautiful place, but the cabins definitely need some TLC.
Nearby activities: Marina, Golf course, mini golf, beach (free), hiking trails.

Let me start off by saying we will be coming back. If you put everything in context, the cons kind of make sense. This place is in the middle of no where so it’s probably hard to get decent cleaning staff. I recommend not going if you feel entitled to a shiny white hotel. This is a lodge in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere in Ohio. Being dusty and dirty adds to the charm… however I did have some issues.
Cons-
-Room is dirty, old stale food in the fridge. Floor was dirty. Blankets were dirty.
-Apparently the wild animals are fed so they were very close to the pool and trails, 3 skunks blocked us from the entrance to get to our room.
-Management seems overworked and unfriendly.
-Food was ok.
-There’s is nothing nearby so bring food or eat at the lodge.
Pros-
-The views and location are almost worth the price alone.
-Beautiful and lots of trails.
-Service was great, especially in lounge and restaurant. Fast and helpful. The staff really seems to care.
-Alcohol and pizza was the highlight, however little to no sauce and pepperoni, still tasted good to me.
-The wild animals are very friendly.
-There’s an updated arcade.
-Indoor and outdoor pool was big.
-Not busy at all for late June.

The scenery at Deer Creek is gorgeous. Our family enjoys the time we spend at the lodge and always make incredible, lasting memories together. The lake is peaceful and provides a great space to sit and reflect on the day. The staff is always kind and helpful for all the needs we have during our stay.

To be fair, they are still under construction. The entrance outside is stunning. The room, while clean and refreshed still had some issues. The coffee maker and supplies were nowhere near a plug, so I had to search for a place to plug it in. The lids provided did not match the size of the cups provided. The bathroom, while clearly updated really needs some sort of hand rail or other grip to get in or out as is standard in most hotels.
Service was very friendly, but the lodge was clearly understaffed, which impacted the quality of service exactly as you would expect.
Food was OK. Given the lack of other options, this was disappointing. This seems to be advertised as a destination. While the location and view foot the bill, the food needs to improve to meet this standard.
The wild life outside the room was entertaining...five groundhogs, three cats and some very vocal frogs...

The rooms feel a little neglected cleanliness wise. Floors need cleaned and cobwebs removed.
The fire pits cost $30 to use which is absolutely ridiculous. We brought our own firewood and stuff for s’mores and were told we had to pay to use them. They sat empty- we saw one family using them.
The pool was nice and refreshing. There was a lifeguard on duty at all times.
Pizza from the lounge was good but took over an hour when quoted “at least 30 minutes”.
The restaurant itself was just ok- we had lunch there.
Michael was very friendly and knowledgeable. Maintenance fixed my refrigerator quickly.
Overall my kids had fun and we had great quality time.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. Recently stayed here for a family reunion, while the view is beautiful (if you’re able to see it) everything else about this facility is horrible. Upon checking into the hotel I waited 5-10 mins while employees chatted and cashed out with no acknowledgement to me waiting. We called 2 months in advance to book our room and were told we would have an amazing view of the lake, when we got to our room we had a view of only trees and a old broken down golf cart. When I called the front desk about getting moved to a different room with a lake view she was extremely nasty stating that a lake view isn’t promised and that they had nothing else to give me. Later on that night when trying to give my kids a bath the tub was extremely nasty with a soap scum ring around the bottom, I called the front desk and was told house keeping wasn’t there anymore and they weren’t able to help me. I had to ask for cleaning supplies to clean the tub myself. The buffet breakfast that is EXTREMELY overpriced is a complete joke, it should actually be complimentary with the prices they charge a night for the rooms. You will wait hours for food after your order it. When I checked out the front desk clerk AMANDA was extremely hateful and nasty. Everyone I spoke with said the same thing. She acts as if you’re bothering her when asking questions.
Overall this was a HORRIBLE hotel, extremely overpriced and outdated. The view is great but I would never stay here again or recommend anyone else to. I can’t believe we paid over $500 to stay here honestly. I had higher expectations.

Tiki bar Beth is rude. Just witnessed the WORST customer service I have ever seen. She kicked a family eating at tables and waiting 15 more mins for pool to open. Tiki bar wasn't open yet. NO SIGNS stating anything. RUDE, HATEFUL AND STRAIGHT UP NASTY to that family for absolutely no good reason. This place has gone down hill so fast. It is so sad. Think twice before coming here, surely there are better places. Customer service STINKS! They don't even post when pool closed for lunch break. So all the guests have to tell each other.

Rented a speed boat many years ago. The beach area is wonderful. Was there two years ago. The whole area is just beautiful!

Love this place. From fishing around the lake, to riding sled's down the hill from the damn!
