November 2023 by Kiyan Ward Brooks
I love adding to my grocery list meats that expired 2 or 3 months ago, causing me and my household to get sick. It’s November. Why is GE’s meat being sold dated back from July-September? Is this okay? Is this what corporate allows or do you guys just not care? I’m just absolutely annoyed and disgusted and had food poisoning as well so will not be shopping here for meats anymore.

If you like restrooms that smell like stale urine, this is your place!! I try to avoid Giant Eagle stores because of their excessively overpriced items but once in awhile I will stop in and wonder why I even bothered. Aldi and Walmart can save you a lot of money and ALDI actually has clean restrooms.

Last night I did a grocery pick up order and I wasn’t happy with it at all. My romaine lettuce was brown and slimy I had to throw most of it in the trash and the shrimp I ordered was the not what was pictured on the pickup website. Literally gave me 5 shrimp when what was pictured was a bag of frozen 16/20 shrimp. Last time I’ll shop this way. Might as well do it myself.

Switched to this location for groceries from the Giant Eagle on Snow in Brook Park. Night and day difference.Clean and stocked to the best of their abilities - When distribution is to blame, it’s hard to be mad at the store when things are out of stock.Staff at the meat counter are polite and help out with the latest deals, and we always have our favorite cashiers we look for. There are some real gems working here, I can only hope that the company knows how important the good workers are to the customers experience.

I have to leave a 5 star for this store! I was sooo stressed about finding someone to do a great white shark cake. Everywhere I went, it was “baby shark” which was not what I was looking for. I was able to come into the store while the cake decorators were available and they truly made my daughters dream come true with the cake!!! I believe it was Tiffany who was the artist of the cake. The shark was hand made by them and i couldn’t be happier or more thankful!! Thank you to this location and their team!

Giant Eagle is over priced. Although they have a decent variety of produce, they don't have nearly as much as Kroger. I had a bad experience today at the check out counter. The cashier was very nice and pleasant, however, the girl named Hanna was extremely rude to me and to her coworker. She threatened the cashier and told her that she will get written up for not charging 5cents for bags. I took out .10 cents and said it's doesn't need all this. Here is the .10 just stop threatening the cashier. But Hanna just kept saying go the cashier that they have been charging for bags for a long time now and she will make she gets written up. So I asked to speak to a manager. Manager came and I filled him in on what had transpired. He was nice and professional. He told me he will take care of it. I left there feeling so bad for the older lady cashier on how she was spoken down to. I hope Hanna is made to apologize to the cashier at the very least.

The Giant Eagle in Southland is great. The aisles are clearly marked and wide. The restrooms are very clean. Everything was fresh in produce and bakery. The meat cases were full. I am going to make this my go-to store!

Buckle up friends this is a dozy! A bit of background, my wife was a cashier in HS and College and organizes groceries in a way that makes it easy for 99% of cashiers. The cashier she encountered today falls into the 1% exception. I’m not sure where Giant Eagle found this gem, perhaps a prison release program or psychiatric ward. Anyway, this nincompoop started bagging in the most illogical manner possible. Warm items with frozen, bread with cans, ect. When my wife decides to re-arrange so all the cold groceries would be in insulated bags; the cashier, Meagan, responded like a true “Karen” “Do you want to bag?” her words dripping with venomous anger. My wife responded calmly that she was putting all the cold items in said insulated bags, but she would bag to help. Meagan took this personally and decided to viciously and unceremoniously shove all the groceries down to the bagging area, smashing them. All the while spewing nonsense about other customers not caring how items are bagged. The whole incident was observed by another employee, who looked horrified by the cashier’s behavior. Clearly intimidated by the mentally unstable cashier, she decided to keep her mouth shut and keep a safe distance. At some point the Karen of all cashiers condescendingly asked if my wife wanted to use her perks after blowing through the perk’s screen, clearly showing how little regard for customers she had. When asked how much savings, the cashier said flippantly “like 5 bucks”. Not one for bullying behavior, my wife had her pull it up on the screen so she could see. The perks were used and my wife left. That folks is the treatment you can expect at the South Land location.

Bakery is staffed by people who don’t know what they’re doing, a manager even admitted that to me on the phone. They confirmed 2x my order was ready for pick up and when we came to pick it up suddenly I set it for a different pick up date? Customer service said no one could take my call about my experience, no manager there they left for the day, but somehow still transferred me to a manager. Terrible service.

I have shopped at Giant Eagle in Middleburg for over 20 years. They have been going downhill the last two years years. Their meat is okay and especially if you can get there for the bogo specials. Breads and donuts are good although all their bakery is way overpriced. Milk and dairy is usually pretty good and you can usually find what you need. Having eggs in the furthest corner of the store is a hike for the elderly or people just running in for milk, eggs and bread. The lunch meat counter closes too early and the potato, macaroni and other salads are way overpriced. The frozen foods selection is good. The produce is terrible and has gotten worse each time I go there. The fruit, potatoes and tomatoes don’t last more than a day at home. I will not be buying any produce there anymore. The cashier’s are always friendly.

I mean, it's Giant Eagle. It's a decent location, but their gift card selection is paltry compared to Market District. It's an average sized store. Selection is decent, the employees are always friendly and helpful. I go here for onesie twosie things when I run out, but when I'm doing shopping for the next few weeks, I go to Market District in Strongsville.
