There are vets, and then there are *VETS*. Dr. Pepin is the latter.
Her office was the only one out of DOZENS I called (even my regular vet) that was able to get me in the same day for an urgent appointment for my dog. Throughout the entire visit, she explained everything she was doing/noticing, explained what tests or procedures she recommended, why she recommended them in the order she did, why they were important, what the results would tell us, and how much it would cost. She delivered some difficult news with grace and kindness, while being direct enough to make sure I was prepared for what's likely to follow. She made sure I was well-informed and had a clear understanding of everything, but despite being so thorough in her explanations, she never came across as indifferent or 'clinical'. Quite the opposite, in fact.
She utilized a level of communication that made me feel at ease, and a depth of compassion and warmth that provided invaluable comfort to both my dog and myself during a really scary, emotionally difficult time. It's absolutely evident that her role as a veterinarian is one that's close to her heart. It really MEANS something to her to do what she does, and to do it so well. And it's apparent that the staff she employs hold those same values as deeply as she does.
I truly believe that some people are just... destined to do or be certain things in this world. And from only one appointment at her practice, it's clear to me that Dr. Janine was a vet LONG before she ever even applied to veterinary school. She has always been a veterinarian because that's just who she IS. This is not simply a job for her, it is a CALLING. And the care that she devotes to her clients (both human and animal!) reflects that. In spades.
Though I wish I had met her under less dire or painful circumstances, I'm grateful that I met her at all. And while my regular vet's office is wonderful and provides exemplary care, Dr. Pepin's practice is absolutely, unequivocally the right fit for me and my beloved pets. I'll be switching my bigger babies (Great Danes!) over to your care when they're due for their next round of vaccines. With any luck, it won't need to be any sooner than that. I hope you're not planning to retire any time soon, Dr. Janine! It would be a great loss to the pet parents of this community.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking such great care of my dog, my spirit, and my faith in humanity. You and your staff are a blessing.

I’d like to Thank Dr. Pepin for being our Veterinarian for the past 5+ years. Dr. Pepin and her techs come out to our home and give our animals their check-ups and shots. Compassionate, kind and friendly, she takes her time examining and answering questions we may have. Thank you and your staff for caring about our pets as if they were yours!! Thanks Much??

I have gone to Dr. Pepin at Tender Loving Care for 14 years now. She has taken excellent care of my two little pugs throughout the years and is now caring for my golden retriever. Dr. Pepin has been more than just a vet. She has been a caring, compassionate friend to my whole family, human family members and furry babies. She has walked through a lot of turmoil with me and my family and has gone above and beyond many times to give the most excellent care to my one pug who has endured a lot. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Pepin and her practice.

She saved our Pomeranian from a life threatening illness, and provided care for our Great Pyrenees without issue or hassle!
Great job Dr. and I’ll se you next time when we bring any one of our animals back !

Not only does the staff express true care about our pet but they also are transparent about costs and discuss best courses of action that are most reasonable!!

After going to the same vet for the last 6 years, I became fed up and tired of not getting answers, being rushed out the door at every appointment, outrageous costs, etc. we finally decided to take our dog to a new vet. After spending hours researching and reading reviews we decided to take the leap and make an appt here at TLC and it was the BEST decision we could have made. Our Riley gets timid around other animals and they make sure there is no interaction and crossing of paths which was really nice. Dr. Pepin spent over an hour with us thoroughly explaining what could be causing the issue we’re having and how we can conquer it. She took her time with us and explained everything so well and went over pricing with us. We didn’t feel pressured whatsoever. They were so good with our strong, stubborn, full of energy and muscle girl. I couldn’t be happier knowing our dog is finally in good hands.

Went in for routine vaccines came out with a $700 bill. She runs tests without telling you and then you find out when you check out. I’ve never experienced anything like this. Came back today (2 weeks after this visit) for one more shot that was supposed to be only $30 to be told I owed $190 because she wanted to do a test on my dogs ears. She runs tests without asking and then you have to pay. It just feels very icky and slimy to me. We won’t be back.
