Haven't used progressive in a few years but their horrible service just popped into my head and I wanted to say they are the worst insurance company around!

My wife purchased our insurance policy through Progressive, specifically selecting it for business use. The policy clearly shows both comp and collision coverage, which is undeniably full coverage. Now, Progressive is suddenly claiming that this is not a commercial policy—despite 'business use' being indicated. This raises the question: what other definition of 'business use' could there be besides commercial use? Their position makes no sense, and they're also denying that it's full coverage. This policy was purchased through their self-service portal, where we trusted the options provided. Now, Progressive is putting us in a very stressful situation by either failing to recognize the coverage we paid for or by misrepresenting what was offered. It’s simple—comp and collision equals full coverage, yet they are denying this and refusing to replace a windshield, even though Florida law mandates this. Their refusal to address the issue, or refund the amount we've invested in this policy, is creating unnecessary confusion and stress for us as customers. Why is Progressive making such a black-and-white issue so difficult?

I recently switched to Progressive Insurance, hoping for a reliable and supportive insurance provider. However, my experience has left me extremely disappointed and frustrated. Due to an unintentional oversight during a confusing online policy transition, I did not include my 15-year-old daughter, who only had a temporary permit at the time, on my policy. This omission was an honest mistake, not a deliberate attempt to lower my premium.
Five days after my daughter received her driver's license, she was involved in a small, no-fault accident in a roundabout. The other driver entered the roundabout illegally, causing the collision, and was cited for not having a driver's license. Despite this, Progressive chose to cancel my policy, citing the omission of my daughter as the reason.
When I contacted customer service, I was met with a lack of understanding and empathy. The customer service lead insinuated that I had lied on my application to reduce my premium, which was both insulting and unfounded. Instead of supporting me and going after the at-fault driver, Progressive chose to penalize me for an honest mistake discovered only after the accident.
I provided all the relevant documents and explained the situation in detail, but Progressive's response was rigid and dismissive. They refused to take anything other than the strict contractual language into consideration, ignoring the extenuating circumstances and the fact that the other driver was clearly at fault.
This experience has shown me that Progressive is more concerned with transactional processes than with protecting and supporting their customers. Their handling of this situation has been unprofessional and unfair, leaving me without coverage during a critical time.
I expected better from Progressive and urge potential customers to think twice before choosing this insurer. Their lack of flexibility and poor customer service in handling disputes is alarming. I am now looking for a new insurer who values their customers and provides the support and understanding needed in times of need.

I changed my insurance to Progressive because of the cost. I am an old man and I hardly ever drive (on average less than 200 miles a month), and when I do drive, it is a 1999 pickup truck with 320,000+ miles on it. I joined the program supposedly designed to monitor by driving. I tried to get the whole thing set up before I went somewhere but I couldn't get it to work. So I said to myself "okay, maybe next time." But they sent me a notice to start recording or they would pull me out of the monitoring program before I went to drive again. Finally, I managed to get it going right. I left it on because I didn't want to have troubles again. However, I didn't go any where for several days, so it had nothing to record. But then I was going somewhere, except that somebody else was driving in their car. So I had to turn it off so it would not record improper information. A couple of days passed, and I was going to drive myself somewhere. And I tried to get the darn thing started, but I couldn't. So, I just got tired of hassling with the whole thing and deleted the app. The whole thing very, very annoying. And after all, the system is no-good. It records where my phone is and how fast it is moving. It doesn't necessarily even record where I am, much less the vehicle, which is the product that is being insured. The only way to have a system that works is to plug something directly into the vehicle, and I do not have any idea how they would do that in such an old truck. Maybe they can in newer vehicles with all the gadgetry those have. Anyway, you get a two for being inexpensive.

Worst experience, highly recommend not to use them. They will take your money right on time, but when it’s coming for them to do their job, they’ll give you the most frustrating and worst experience ever. Jane Benson and her supervisor would never answer any phone calls, voice mails or emails. When I was trying in numerous times to reach Jane, at some point she answered yelling at me telling that I stop calling her so often, that’s she’s trying her best to work this as quick as possible (remember what I mentioned earlier, one week, nobody answered my emails, calls or voice mails). Be careful with them and good luck.

Don’t by homeowners coverage from Progressive!
"The Homesite company they use has a bad underwriting process. They don’t allow you to add personal property coverage easily. The communication is poor and confusing .

I want to thank our Rep Kwame Rogers, he did an amazing job with our claim! He was very patient with my husband, who was frustrated and confused on what to do, this was his first time being involved in an accident and wasn’t sure how we’d get our car fixed. Mr. Rogers handled everything very professionally and always returned my calls. We are so happy to have put our trust in him. He set an appointment for us at a facility who did an AWESOME job fixing our car! It looks like a brand new car now! Thank you so much Mr. Rogers!

No No No No- I had this insurance when I lived in Texas. Their customer service is TERRIBLE! I had been hit, and the car actually ended up being totaled. I called 3 days in a row to report this accident and when I finally got ahold of someone I was rudely told "well it wasn't your fault so why are you calling us?" I was shocked. I had always been told that any accident, even if not your fault, you call your insurance company to report....especially because my car had been totaled and my son and I had been taken to the hospital. I was never asked "are you okay, what can we do to help facilitate a rental car, etc?" I made the decision never to use Progressive car insurance again- and I haven't.

Progressive’s customer backed into my car. He assumed full liability. My car is less than 3 years old. Bought it brand new off the lot. 42grand. My childhood dream. Never been hit before now. Progressive initially wanted to replace my factory parts with cheaper aftermarket parts. I did not agree to that. Luckily the body shop was able to get OEM parts for the same price. Progressive agreed to replace every thing except the front passenger fender. The fender, they want to go the cheapest route . Hammer out the dent and fill it with body filler. I requested that they replace the fender . The fender did not have body filler on it before the wreck. I did not want it on there after the wreck. To me that is not restoring the fender to the previous condition. If the car were older and beat up. I would not be so picky. But this car is my baby. The car I always wanted since I was a kid.I have made countless phone calls trying to find a person who can actually make a decision at this level. Everyone was pleasant. Most of the time when you call you get a voicemail saying they will get back with you the next business day. You cannot talk to anyone right on the spot. I have spent a couple of hours calling and talking to different people at progressive. Pretty aggravating. When I was able to finally talk with the lady that could make a decision after being passed around for a couple of days. She just point blank said they would not replace the fender. It was their decision, not mine. It was their and the body shops decision . Not the victims. Wow , I have no say so, on how they are going to repair my car. How is that? Progressive kinda blamed it on the body shop. Saying if the body shop decided to replace the fender they would agree to it. Little did I know when I choose this body shop. They are one of progressive’s chosen body shops. Not sure who’s best interest they have? Mine or progressive’s. It all about the $$$$. Not the victim. I looked it up. Progressive netted around 2 billion last year after all their expenses were paid.So here we are today Nov/28/2023.Claim #23-5290507I am going to have to pay $600 out off my pocket to have my car completely restored to its previous condition. I really do not understand why I do not have a choice on how my car is repaired since their customer assumed liability. They have their policy, they do not care about your policy’sIt is really pretty sorry! It is all about profit to Progressive. I do not know what else to say. Not sure what route I will take next. But I will not let it end where we are at.

This insurance company is a terrible company and if you have problems with them call the INSURANCE COMMISSIONER or go online and file a report on them. They need to be held accountable for their actions. I have already filed and an investigation has been opened as they added a driver to my policy without both parties permission and stole $526.33 and emptied my bank account. Now they tell me that my bank has the money they took and when they release it I will have it. My bank says that is false that no money has been sent from progressive! Crooks and thieves is what they are and I will file over and over again until they make this right.
