I can’t really put into strong enough words how much disdain I have for this clinic. Whether it is the awful customer service, or the complete disregard for pet owner’s feeling, i’m not quite sure which disgusts me more. I have been turned away from this vet more times than i can count for being ‘at capacity’ only for them to offer absolutely no alternative solutions. I lost a kitten a year ago, which they initially turned away for not being serious enough. I was just turned away again when trying to bring my current kitten in. I’ll let you decide whether or not to give these ‘people’ your business.

Took my puppy in there after a fall. He was worse when they gave him back to me and he died a few hours after getting home. Charged me and did absolutely nothing. Do not recommend.

We took our 3 year old boy Finn here back in August. He was anemic and dehydrated, it went downhill rather quickly. After checking him over in the back, they brought him to the exam room and asked me about blood work, for and stuff. But that time Finn was agonally breathing and actively dying. I went to pick him up and the doctor told me to be careful not to get bit. I was overally emotional and basically said I didn't care if he bit me. This is when she tells me if he bites me, they would have to cut off his head to check for rabies. Not something any pet parent would wanna hear. I made th decision to help him cross the bridge and end his suffering. I didn't even get to hold him until after he passed. I will never take another of my animals here.

I can't thank the staff and Dr's enough. Truly an amazing experience. They helped ease my mind and completely made us feel comfortable. Very attentive and prompt. Would highly recommend

Im only giving 1 star because i can not give any lower. I have used this emergency vet multiple times. Sundays visit will stay with me, i will drive further to get care elsewhere. Took my 6 year old blue heeler, he was vomiting, having trouble walking. After the wait, we were taken to a room, before anyone looked at my dog they were having me sign the estimate ($500). They took my dog to get xrays. When the vet came in she told us his xrays are not normal and he had a stomach full of cancer.......to give us extra time with him, they gave him fluids, anti nausea meds and steroids and sent us on our way. I requested his xrays sent to his regular vet. After getting home had a seizure. I was certain he had to be put down.
His regular vet had an actual radiologist read the xrays and there was no cancer. He had a blockage. My poor buddy has suffered longer. He had surgery this morning and is doing well.
We even talked about how he shreds towels and clothes....

Beware!! They will not take care of their responsibilities.. our dog almost died because they refused to see him. Only place in Toledo that’s open for emergency services for pets and truly they don’t care!!!

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE!!! First off, I live in MI. Last Thursday my dog had an encounter outside with an animal (did not see it, I was carrying our 12# dog down the deck steps ). BUT her eyes were swollen shut, she was frothing at the mouth, drooling, barely walking and smelling like gasoline. Immediately I flushed her eyes, blotted them w/clean towels and called this practice. Described everything, told them I was coming from MI and they reiterated they were open until 8 am. I drove to Maumee to pull in and see signs that tell you to park and call in. I did that expecting to enter the bldg a few minutes later. What I was told is that it would be a 2 hr wait!!! When I voiced my disbelief, I was told wait times have been as much as 8 hrs. Like this is acceptable!?!? And this is an emergency vet???? Mind you, not once did the girl on the other end of the phone mention that if this was from a skunk we would not be allowed in the bldg!!! We waited 1.5 hrs. Rec'd a call telling me they'd meet me at the door. We go to the door, when the tech comes out, props the door w/a rock, when I looked questioning of her actions, she THEN explains that she needed to "smell" my dog!! WHAT!!?? She smells and says, yes it is a skunk, you can't come inside. AGAIN, WHAT?? She says the vet would come outside to the parking lot to do an exam. Me: And you think I am paying $250-300 for a parking lot exam?? Then she said she had to check with the vet IF she could give me the 'recipe'! Me: what do you think I have been doing the last 1.5 hrs...you mean the 'recipe' that VCA vet office freely posts to help patients?
1) why didn't the 1st person I spoke with when I called tell me about NOT being allowed in the bldg AND about the wait times??
2) the check-in person also could have given me a heads up when I was describing my dog's concerns that we would NOT be allowed in IF a skunk??
3) RUDE STAFF, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNCARING
I WOULD NOT WANT TO SEE A LIFE OR DEATH PATIENT GO THERE!!!
By the way, RECIPE:
1 quart 3% peroxide, baking soda, and 2 tsp dishsoap. DO NOT WET DOG. Pour baking soda over dog, squirt with peroxide, mix and rub in. Put 1 C peroxide and dishsoap in bowl and add to past-like mixture to make sudsy. Scrub, scrub, scrub, then rinse. Once smell is gone, wash with dog's normal shampoo.

We had an emergency with our dog, she was in real pain. We called this place and no one answered. We left a message and no one called us back. So we went there, it took us 46 minutes to get there. They said they were full to capacity and therefore couldn't see our dog. Thats fine, I get that. What I don't get is why they didnt call us back to let us know. That is very unprofessional and I will NEVER go to that place again!

My Sister is visiting with her 12 yo black lab. He had a large cyst on his chin that broke open and was bleeding all over. Took him to this place. We waited in the car and he was soaking through towels. They do not let you wait inside. They did remove the cyst and put in stitches. I thought $1028 was a bit pricy but it had to be done. My Sister is still visiting and the stitches need to be removed. We called and it will cost $66 to have a tech remove them!!!
Why would that not be included in the surgery? Seriously?

There was a lady at the front desk that was super rude to me. Honestly she should be fired and honestly I will never go back there again. I don’t like to be treated like that and I was super rude back to her. The owner probably does not even read these.

Do not go here for an emergency. Rude staff, ridiculously priced, the over all feeling that it's a paycheck not a passion.

NOT AN EMERGENCY SERVICE, IF YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL EMERGENCY FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE
to elaborate i'm here with my elderly cat who has recently acted funny in the past couple days, so now that we feel the need to take her to the EV, we have drove our cat who hasn't been outside our house since her adoption thirteen years ago 30 minutes out of the way in a cramped carrier only to be turned down at the door and sent back to your car to "schedule an appointment" luckily in our case, she isn't actively bleeding out, or actively dying as we are waiting here, but if that is the case do not come here. you will not be given EMERGENCY treatment. i'm disgusted by the false advertising

The staff here is wonderful, and I am extremely grateful that there is an emergency service for pets in our area. It’s a bit of a drive from my town, but they truly care about animals and their people. My cat didn’t have the outcome I had hoped for, but they did everything they could for him. He had an emergency a few years prior (on New Year’s Eve) and would have died that time if the Veterinary Emergency Center hadn’t been available to save him. I appreciate these people very much!
