Maybe the only hardware store that sells Yardworks brand, which is lower priced than other brands. I got a Yardworks mower in 2021 and it's still going strong

Trying to avoid Amazon so I went here to get a screen door. Difficult to get help even with employees walking around everywhere. Price rang up wrong and they wouldn't honor the store sign. I guess Amazon runs this one.

Employees are incompetent blocking entire Wood Barn, making customers back trailers out of Barn with an attitude

Went to Menards to get cedartone decking which the other two big box stores do not stock. The drive is a bit longer, but always enjoyed the change of pace going to Menard's. The problem began when I made a mistake going to the lumber yard. Gate keeper informed me that I had missed the sign saying go in first to make the purchase. In my mind, I wanted to make sure they had enough stock that wasn't warped/split/damaged before paying, but those are the differences. I politely asked the guard to allow me to pull through and turn back around so that I did not have to complete a reverse out of the gateway with a 16' trailer. He said he was "not allowed to do so" and looked very proud of himself. He even smiled like he was the only one who heard the joke. I followed with "So you want me to complete a full turn around with your other customers coming in and out with the trailer." He replied "Yep" with a grin as he was equally proud to respond in the second exchange. I fully admit that I made the initial mistake, but making a bad situation worse by not letting me pull 10' past the gate to swing the truck and trailer around to go back out is dumb. I have little tolerance for folks who enjoy making situations more difficult than they need to be. I assume he was angry about working on Independence Day and who could blame him. I did however only buy the $600 worth of decking at Menard's and then made a second stop at the orange store (where they are always accommodating and friendly). I spent $2763.33 there instead of grabbing majority of the order at Mendards. I won't go back.

Absolute trash lumber. Started a remodel before the pandemic, any 1x preprimed pine lumber was consistent in thickness and fairly straight. Three years later, spending way too much time and money picking through absolute garbage lumber on the racks that anyone with any sense wouldn't try to sell. I don't care how tight things got when the supply chain got pinched, but I shouldn't have to pick through a stack of 1x8 boards that are beat up on the face and not even finished on the back side, and are not even the proper thickness, and then have to pay full price for that trash.
I will say that some of the newer lumber is getting back up to standards, but for the love of some god, get the garbage leftover cupped and warped and twisted trash off the racks and just burn it. There's a reason why we buy preprimed trim, don't charge me full price for "meh, have to make it work" lumber.
