The only issues I've had is on their delivery side. We are remodeling our home, I ordered a couple months ago, flooring, OSB, ext (building materials) I was told it would be brought where I wanted it when I placed my order, paid $150 for delivery. Had no issues.
Ordered last week, more building materials, I'm currently 8 month's pregnant. I thought delivery would be best so it could be brought inside. I dont mind paying almost $200 more since it's being brought inside.
Well, the delivery person calls me when he is on his way and asks me where i want the delivery and I tell him right inside the front door on the floor. He tells me "awesome" then gets here. Then states I didn't "pay for him to bring it inside" ??? I said I paid $150, it wasn't an issue last time.. and there isn't even an option for paying more for that. Nope, he won't do it. It's pouring rain. Ridiculous. Why would you tell me on the phone you can bring it inside then get here and say you can't bring it inside no matter what?... bull crap.
Call Menards and they tell me it's an outsourced company so they don't carry stuff inside anymore. Then make the delivery fee LESS. Why am I still paying $150 freaking dollars for you to drop my $400 order in the rain.. Ridiculous.

I often have mixed feelings about shopping at Menards. The constant piped-in jingle used to be a bit much, but thankfully, they've toned it down recently. The prices are not that different when you factor in that the mail-in rebate is basically a joke. They don't even provide a discount for Military/Veterans like most other home stores.
Currently, I'm building a deck and chose some specific decking from Menards because I liked the look, even though it was a bit pricier. I instructed my contractor to order it, and Menards promised delivery this morning. However, they arrived two hours late, leaving the construction crew idle.
To make matters worse, the driver didn't have the proper equipment to move the material, so they just dumped it in my front yard, right by the road. Now, the contractor's team has to haul it almost 150 feet to the back yard where the deck is being built.
Additionally, this poorly executed delivery cost more than double what another local supplier is charging me, for a larger quantity of material. They also have the means to drive it back to the construction site.
While Menards does carry some unique items that other home improvement stores don't, I find it's usually not worth the hassle.

Tell you what, I love getting sent to the back of the store to get a lumber ticket for 4 pieces of wood. Seriously their system is irritating.Set a standard that a customer has to have the item number or sku or whatever in order to do a lumber order. Also the order must be less than 5 pieces or 10 pieces. I was just irritated that I had literally all the information they needed and they had the capability of making a ticket but they sent me to the back of the store. Of course I get back there and there’s 3 store attendants there and two are answering dumb questions from the wife and the other is diligently working on store tasks. Which I have no problem with that because those customers are out of your control and well, you can’t blame someone for doing their job at work and staying busy, hell I commend the guy for that. Again walking to the back of the store is irritating and time consuming when I’m trying to make a quick trip in and out. I did my part by having all the information ready for you, why can’t customer service do their job by putting the ticket together and charging me for the materials so I can get out of there quickly.

Love it here! Most of the time it has what I need ! Wood area is amazing with the selection. I hate how ya gotta go outside for it. Tools, supplies and garden stuff are amazing!

Very friendly staff on the sales floor but not the cashiers. They seem like they don't want to be there. The paint department and hardware people are so nice and will help as much as they can. I always get asked if I need assistance and the store is organized and well stocked.
