My card was charged more than the cost of my appointment. I was told in-person that my card would be refunded the additional amount. It didn't happen. I called, was on hold for 30 minutes, and was eventually told I'd get a call back from a supervisor. I didn't. I had to check my bank statements and call back a few days later. After waiting again, someone told me they'd refund my card the excess amount charged-- hopefully true. I think sometimes you lose good customer service at the large chains. When moving to a whole new state I, of course, did some research to find the best salon I believed would be a great fit for me and a place I would be able to bring my skills. Penzone is the only place I considered! And I am so happy to finally be a part of such amazing Family Owned business with such passion for community, an emphasis on education, and a never-ending desire to make others feel beautiful, from the outside in. Not sure I got what I came in for, but got a cut with enthusiasm and my hair looks healthier. I am getting used to my haircut, and it was styled nicely at the time. I have difficult hair to manage. I asked to keep my hair longish, but my stylist showed me ultra short pixie cuts, probably because my hair is severely damaged. She acted excited about it. I went with a different style.I was seated a little late while my stylist sat at the bar folding foils. She said she was not called by the desk, but I had checked in twice, both at the console and front desk. She didn't recognize me, which was the same issue I had because her head was down and I couldn't see her. All other clients at my time slot were called and greeted before me.She said she was on Botox and asked me if I was taking it too. I said no, but it would be great if I could afford it.She showed me numerous photos of her family. LolWe are roughly the same age, and I'm a little older. I thought she looked beautiful!She remembered a little bit about me and my damaged hair. She compared me to a cancer patient, it was not the first time I heard that. I let her know I had been misdiagnosed with a fungal infection, and had sensitive skin due to eczema.Medicine for that and other health issues made my hair damaged. She gagged and made a face which she could not hide. I was embarrassed.Shortly thereafter, what looked like an unclean brush with hair on it was used to blowout my hair, but I have the same brush at home and thought nothing of it.She had a smile on her face, she convinced me she was a friendly, trustworthy person. However I felt uneasy about divulging too many personal details. I guess I was upset about the state of my hair and didn't feel like having someone be overly friendly. I usually am an extrovert when out, but have been through a lot and didn't know how to take her. I'll get used to the cut. She did a good job with difficult hair.

I made an appointment at the Gahanna location about 2 months ago for an anniversary couples massage. I got a text the night before that massage would need to be cancel because the “artist” has medical concerns. Offered a singular massage. Nothing else was offered no “let us make it right”, “ we have this date”“Sorry this was anniversary, let us make it up to you”. I do appreciate the text the evening before.?. How about 50% of a couples massage or maybe something besides “sorry”

I called because i was running exactly 15 minutes behind and wanted to be sure that i wouldn’t be wasting my time driving to this location in case it was at all later than 15 minutes (with parking and walking in). I was assured that the stylist said that i could still come in so o rushed her and walked in 16 minutes late and couldn’t log in to the self check in.I went to the desk for help and the associate at the desk chatted about her hair routine with a girl standing in front of me for a while and then the girl turned around and apologized and the associate Finally acknowledged me and when i said the ipad wasn’t letting me check in she said it was because i was late.I wouldn’t mind this if i didn’t go out of my way and wait on hold forever to be sure i wasn’t wasting time driving up here.Definitely would not recommend this location. Poor communication and customer service

I booked with Penzone Salon and Spa for bridal hair and makeup for myself and bridal party. I want to preface this review by stating that the stylists did an incredible job. Audra and Arabella did all of our makeup beautifully. Mae and Melia did a great job with all of our hair.My real issue began when I went for my trial for bridal hair and makeup. I paid a large deposit and my service said “bridal hair with trial” so you can imagine that I was shocked when I was told it would be another $200+ on trial day. It ended up going towards my total, which was fine, but no one in the salon could explain it to me. Then, I attempt to get my invoice updated so I could get a clear image of what I would owe on wedding day, and the bridal coordinator could not seem to get the math correct or explain why something was one way or another. Then, a week before my wedding, I’m told they can only send one hair stylist. In my experience with bridal parties, I’ve never seen any stylist do 6 updos and do them well (considering we paid on demand fees which is nearly double a salon cost). After much debate, I was finally given a second hair stylist and thank goodness because the original stylist showed up late and therefore would never have finished our hair on time had she been the only one.Lastly, and this unfortunately came as no surprise, I was over charged by $540 on wedding day. This has since been corrected by the salon, so I hope I will receive my refund quickly. I would also like to note that nothing has been done to try to make this hectic experience right for me by the salon. At this point, I would have expected free lashes or something small for all of the trouble I have been through.Overall, the services we received were top notch, but the communication between the single bridal coordinator and the salons is greatly lacking. I cannot say I would recommend booking with Penzone Salon for bridal events.

I had a gift card from late last year, so I finally scheduled an appointment and was looking forward to a relaxing afternoon. The services were fine; but when I went to pay, I was told that my gift card had been used (except for about $15). I told the girl who was helping me that I had never used my gift card, so she looked up the service dates - turns out that I was out of town both of the dates it was used! She said there was nothing she could do and I would have to pay with a credit card. After asking her a few more questions, she found that there were 2 accounts with the same name (just different middle initials) and that the gift card had been added to the other persons' account - but she still said there was nothing she could do. I asked to talk to a manager a couple of times and she said they were all in a meeting in the back office; after my 3rd time asking to talk to a manager, she went back to get someone but came back and said none of them could come out. What??? So I guess customer service doesn't matter to these people!?! I ended up having to pay, then went back and had to spend 45 minutes with a supervisor to "unwind" the whole mess. With the cost of their services, I expected better customer service than this - I think I'm done with Penzone after this experience!

Wren did my hair & Vera did my makeup for an outdoor wedding (sunny & high 80s), both of them were so nice & did a fantastic job! Everything lasted all night & looked exactly how I’d imagined. Very nice experience in the salon & would definitely be back.

The most unpleasant salon experience I’ve ever had. I arrived at 4:30 PM. They said they couldn’t get me until 5:45. I asked them how long the service will take They said one hour. I sat in the waiting area for an hour and a half. The stylus did not call me back until 6 PM. I told her I had to be somewhere by 7 PM. So instead of apologizing for calling me back 15 minutes late, they then had two people drying my hair, manhandling my head. The girl that washed my hair said she was going to shampoo it twice but she did not. My scalp still felt greasy like it wasn’t rinsed properly. The stylist blow dried my hair and was pulling my head so hard I finally had to say something. She actually accused me of yelling at her, which clearly was not true. She was just upset that I said anything about her pulling my hair too hard. It’s incredibly bad customer service when you are running late, but then rush the next customer like they don’t matter. Terrible I will not be coming back!

Brought my sister here for her first time for her Birthday. She had Nadia and she was not very pleasant. I don’t know if she hates her job or was just having a bad day, but she was mad my sister had gel on her toes and acted like it inconvenienced her to remove it and barely said two words the entire time. My girl was very friendly and did a great job. It was unfortunate that the birthday girl got the one that didn’t want to make this a good experience :(

I used Penzone for their bridal services on demand for my daughter’s wedding. The bridal coordination in the back-office needs help. Returning emails and phone calls is challenging for them. Their lack of organization was apparent when I asked for a spreadsheet of expenses vs. what I had paid. Their sheet had columns for expenses but did not show all that I had paid thus far. I asked for accounting clarification and was assured all my payments would be included. Well, the day of the wedding they overcharged my credit card. It took nearly two months of emailing and calling to finally get it refunded. Do yourself a favor and don’t use Penzone bridal. Their lack of organization is not worth the headache.Service: Bridal services

Zeta absolutely fantastic doing my nails, best I’ve ever had for nails! Bryn does an amazing facial and put me to sleep god love her! Julie helped so much with my tense muscles and one of the best massages I’ve ever had! Fernanda did a great job as an newbie cutting my hair! Which is always scary but I’ve never been one to freak out about my hair cause it can always be fixed and grows back! Anyone starting out needs understanding people! She did in fact do a great job and will do great in her career! They were all amazing! Really enjoyed my experience. Emma who set it all up did a great job getting my whole day set up and attending to anything I needed! Sue was exceptional also! Will come back! Can’t wait! Thank you all!Services: Pedicure

I was weary of this salon due to the bad reviews and I feel like sometimes we let bad reviews overshadow a business. I took the chance and made an appointment with Vera (eyebrow wax) who was so nice and with Kandice for my hair highlight and cut; she was super friendly, welcoming and kind. She did an amazing job with my hair! I’m booking my next appointments here for sure. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good salon. I just moved here from Cleveland and am so happy I found the salon I’ll be getting my hair appointments at for now on!Services: Waxing

Cassidy totally transformed my hair from something a horse would nibble on... into beautiful bouncy healthy curls! She is amazing! She has also done a fabulous job with my kids cuts and styles! 10 out of 10 would recommend!Services: Haircut
